Yeah, I know what you mean about the false advertising thing. I used to wear a lot of makeup, and people always got a false impression of what I actually looked like. When they did see me without makeup...



Now I don't wear makeup (except for eyeliner and lipstick occasionally) and yeah, people can see my dry skin and acne scars, but I'm okay with that, because at least now it doesn't seem like I'm lying to them Not to mention, waking up at 5 am to have time to make yourself breakfast, straighten your hair, and do your makeup is a real pain

I'm popping back into this thread. ^ I agree with what yall are saying. We girls can look scary without makeup especially when you catch us on a bad day. I think this all ties into the crappy expectations of beauty society places on girls. It's hot for a guy to be un-kept and ruggid but when a girl is messy it's just gross. Honestly Every girl looks awful when she doesn't try. If I stopped plucking my eyebrows and brushing my hair I would look like a hobo. When a guy doesn't brush his hair or shave he still looks good. Maybe it's just ok for guys to be gross? lol Never tell a girl she looks scary without makeup though or you'll break her heart. I don't care- I'm too cocky to care.

Yes, but it is a little more fundamental then that don’t you think? Most of the socially acceptable appearances in the world are decided by men and have been, going back 2 million years; all as a result of upper body strength. It has taken all of that time to just be accepted as equals, OH that is not true either, is it? To just be accepted as the bearers of children and cooks and house cleaners. Thank you so much! It is ingrained in our societies, so comments that appear to be benign on the surface are almost always just another way of putting women in their place. I would guess most players are from the 1/3 of the world that have some social evolution and probably don’t have a clue as to how women are treated in the rest of the world. Little boys get their intellectual capabilities from their mothers, come into the world and are immediately immersed to a world of up body strength and the ability to put women down. Law has been written by men for men for all of our existence.

Then you have all those genetic instructions thrown in about perpetuation the species and mating. And they really skew things given our social evolution.

That guys get to look in disarray is understandable as they write the rules.

If girls are obsessed with their appearance it is most likely because of our place in society. Either that or trying to hid the marks that men have put on us.

Having my heart broken by some prig that gained his standing because he was born with a penis is not something that concerned me to very much.

I am sure no one in this thread would consider hitting a woman. But the numbers of assaults on women come from some place don’t they? I just wonder how many women will be hit today for looking like a ****, or simply showing their face in public.

That I am attractive is a benefit I get as no more that a genetic transfer. Do I use it to my advantage, you better believe I do and I do it consciously. But most of our inherence is far more subtle than that. Do men know that they put women down? Only they can honestly answer that.

I know man it's crazy. I've never mistreated a women in my life(EVER!).  Just because we are guys doesn't mean we are complete jerks. That makes no sense. Gender has nothing to do with it. I've met some women in my time that were completely evil. So please if someone has to got on some man-hating rant do it somewhere else. I come here to unwind and chat with people. Sorry, I am not begging anything. I am making a comment on a thread. And yes of course I use supposition. I am pretty sure that many people that will disagree with me.
What I am not looking for is confrontation or threats. You are more than welcome to disagree with my presuppositions about makeup.

So....your basically saying that all men are the devil ....but you don't want to start a confrontation?  Wow....that makes complete and total sense. I agree that guys can be jerks sometimes, but please don't group all men into that category. Saying that we are is so ignorant.

I'm another admitted blonde-eyelash person. I seriously look like a crazy person without some mascara - anything else I don't mind going without, but seriously. SERIOUSLY. It's not like I don't have eyelashes - they're just transparent. So I don't think that's cheating. 

And like someone else said on the first page, it's just another way lifeforms preen their feathers to catch their mate's attention. And used the right way, it can be used for self-expression. Like Gwen Stefani- if you watch her in No Doubt's Underneath it All video, she looks completely different when you look at her in 00:16, 02:20, and 3:40 - but she still looks gorgeous the entire time, and she still looks like Gwen. That's what makeup is supposed to do. It's why your bride can look perfect walking down the aisle all dolled up and still look perfect when she's all rumpled in the morning - just different kinds of perfect. Few guys would argue with the power of red lipstick, but it's not for all the time.

So makeup is your friend - it's just not supposed to be your master.

I prefer women with as little makeup as possible. But man...some women, a very few need to just slap it on with a trowel or a mason's knife. Jokes aside, most women look better to me with less makeup than average. I guess I'm just not a fan of certain idealized standards of beauty.
