The Future of Dragon Age

I loved the original but not Dragon Age II. While playing this series it brought to mind all the other Bioware projects I've enjoyed in the past.
Baldur's Gate
Neverwinter Nights
So why doesn't Bioware develope an RPG game certered around the Forgotten Realms lore? It seems that the games from the past centered around this lore have been very successful to put it mildly.
I'm a full-time gamer and what I look for in a RPG is a game that allows the player to build and continue to build in later expansions. I thought DAO was heading in that direction, but after playing with DA2 I saw that was not the case.
I really think that Bioware shoudl go back to the Forgotten Realms lore that has been so successful in the past.
This game lore would be an excellent setting for an MMO and I'm quite surprised that Bioware has not done this already.
Since Bioware is already commited to an MMO (SWTOR), I would think a stand alone game would be in the works.
Something that revisits the preious areas like Candlekeep.
A game that continues with expansions that connects everything together.
If your going to contine the DA line, I'd like to see the game getting back to Character building with the ability to continue that character in future games under the same title. Not just plugging the character in starting from ground zero. But plugging the character in continuing that characters progress.
I'm sure these comments have already been addressed. But I've not seen any mention of Forgotten Realms, which is where Bioware has shined in the past.
The environment is ripe for the picking. How awesome as a gamer would it be to return to the areas of
Pool of Radiance
Eye of the Beholder
Baldur's Gate
Neverwinter Nights
with current gaming technology (maybe not so much NWNs)
Cheers
P.S.
Legacy and server merge saved SWTOR

No one played DA2 and thought, "This game sucks, but we awesome if it had some drow in it". The lore is great. The problem is mechanics and presentation.
(Not to mention, I don't think Bioware has the D&D or FR licenses anymore)

Maybe they should consider renewing the lisence for FR. It seems to have be much more successful than the direction they have been heading with the DA projects.
I at least hope that if there is a DA3 that they head more in the direction of tying your character to the entire franchise, a continuation of that characters journey within that franchise.
But I see where you are coming from

I believe that not having one will allow for more diverse stories.
But, I can understand peoples desire to stick with the same character.

I agree with what you are saying about the lore. But the character you created in DAO has no fit in DA2. Everything that character did and collected is wiped.
That's not actually true. If you import the character, the decisions you made carry over to the new world. It's just that the two games have very little in the way of overlapping characters or locations.
Now, you also said, "collected". Are you talking about his inventory and whatnot? Of course that's wiped. It's a new character, and it's a new game. It would be silly to think that you would carry over every item in your possession, considering the power of end-game gear in most RPGs, regardless of setting.

Again... FR vs DA has nothing to do with that at all. They could write a DA series that has the same central protagonist, and they could write a FR series that has a sequence of different protagonists. The setting here is irrelevant. It's the writing, design, and implementation that are in question.

Atari have it I think .
They don't anymore. Since last year in fact. Hasbro took it back with the help of lawers and 20 months in courts. Although it was an out-of-court settlement in the end.

Bioware can save the Dragon Age franchise if they include a squadmate/LI called Paddy the Exploding Tofu in the next game. Who is a pack of Tofu which can explode, has a mexican mustache, he sounds the same as Patrick Stuart, he has a parrot called Dave.
THIS.
btw, does anyone remember the crazy mexican imp from Mask of The Betrayer?
