*shrugs* He's okay.

Didn't think much of him engaging in a fist fight with a lady in a cocktail dress, though. Didn't seem good ship protocol.

As opposed to wearing a cocktail dress while on duty in the first place?

The fan-made models of FemShep in that leather jacket for BroSheps look so much more awesome than that hideous dress.
And I'm saying that as a dude.

I'm still mad that they give ManShep that jacket and FemShep that stupid Allers knockoff dress.

It could be worse. They could have given ManShep a ton of romance options and only given FemShep a couple.....
Oh wait. Image IPB

What disliking James Vega says about me is that I would rather have literally any other squadmate from ME2, yes including Jacob, on my ME3 squad instead of this boring, bland, generic, steroidfreak space marine.

Even Jacob?

Someone didn't read thoroughly.

Well im running around with the Hoodie which is pretty good in my opinion. In fact I find the formal officer uniform and the hoodie are the only clothing that look good.
The dress is just horrible. You look almost like Diane Allers with it. *shudders*

The officer uniform and the hoodie are the only ones I can stand.
What is with the duty shirts? Is this a 1980's revival? Are top heavy shoulder pads back in fashion?

I'm still mad they didn't give ManShep a cocktail dress as an option.

The problem with vega is that he's well not needed. Hear me out.

My Shepard is and always will be a Soldier, and Vega is a Soldier. I like my Squad to be versatile and 2 soldiers isn't needed. Second, it seemed that he was just thrown in there, just thrown in my journey, like he just was on the Normandy with Ash when I was getting picked up. He could have stayed and fought with Anderson, but instead he's just hoped on the Normandy with me. Third, I was really hoping for a Krogan. Not to say I don't like Vega's character, but I just miss having that raw Krogan Squad member with me.

Have nothing against Vega. Just didn't use him.

Didn't use any of the new squadmates actually, except for maybe Javik. Garrus, Tali, Liara and Kaidan are my buddies, of course I'll use them.

Speaking of batarians, I would love a batarian squadmate. Misses Grunt and Jack too.

Vega was a great character. He seems bland in the beginning, but the more you bring him with you, the more you start to like him. Cool dude, if you ask me.

Perhaps there would have been less complaints if Vega had been the DLC character and Javik was shipped with the original game instead. This would have made his character optional and would not have upset the people who felt he was 'forced' into their game since this seems to be a major complaint regarding Vega.

Javik was more important to the story than James so I think he should have taken precedent as a default in game character.

I did like Vega though. Especially his conversations with Cortez.

James is by far my favorite Human squadmate in all three games, and the only one i'd genuinely hate to see die.

If i had to pick a representative of mankind to replace Shepard, that would be him.

Yes he might be a little loose on discipline, and i'm still not sure what he is building at his workbench down in the shipbay.

But he is funny, friendly, open-minded, not stupid at all, and still tough as hell. An exemplary human if i ever saw one.

Ugh Vega.

Traynor is the right person to be the avatar of new players. The reason is she is new to military service, too!

Vega is just there like you're supposed to know him from the beginning. Traynor has a proper introduction. She even shows you (because you're new to ME3) the different sections of the ship.

Traynor has a proper role, too. A job to do. She participates, intercepts communications, offers insights, and has her moment to shine when she traces Kai Leng. Throughout the game she becomes accostumed to life onboard: like you, dear player. She says after a couple of missions that it's one thing to hear about Shepard, something else to see her in action; although this is mainly an "oooh you're romanceable!" line, it also works as the thoughts of new players who finally get to play as Shepard.

All this as opposed to Vega, who after nearly killing you on Mars spends the whole game doing chin-ups and then goes "y'know what, I'ma sign up for N7 lol". Sure whatever dude.

I remember when I first heard about Vega, back before the game came out. I can't remember my exact reaction, of course, but I know it was not positive. Some eye-rolling probably occurred. But I wound up being pleasantly surprised by him. He's probably my second favorite human squadmate out of all of them (Ashley will always be my #1 ). I enjoyed his personality and the way he reacted to things. It did annoy me how he just walked in without any explanation as to who he was and why he was on such friendly terms with Shepard, but that's a fault of the writing, not the character.

It's funny how in one game, N7 went from elite of the elite to "We'll take anyone. No really." with Vega and Kai Leng.

There's a galactic war going on. Vega was a good soldier. Kai Leng was an excellent soldier, before he went crazy.

Vega can't even operate a terminal without kicking it.
Call me crazy but I just assumed the N7 special forces had more to them than hitting things.

Kai Leng was an excellent soldier, before he went crazy.

Even a crazy person should be able to display some level of this supposed ability.
Kai Leng does not.

Beefarms Mclargehuge may be a likable character to some but I think saying we can't crack jokes about his obviously ridiculous design is a bit silly though.

EDITED because, in retrospect, I really didn't like his character.

Ughh James Vega...

How the hell did he got to be a Lt? He may be a good soldier but he is no command material, he is not the kind of guy you want to see leading others.

And the spanglish aghhhh it was PAINFUL. I really hate the stereotypical latino to always use spanglish and be all "Hey Lola... hey loco". Does anyone remember how George Lucas got accused of racism due to Jar Jar Binks? DITTO with Vega.

Vega sucks at the tech stuff, but he's still a damn good soldier who does what needs to be done when needed.

Kai Leng manged to completely wipe out all security footage of himself during the coup. He kicked Shepard's ass on Thessia and got what he came there for. He may have seemed like a **** compared to what we saw in the books (Seriosuly, he was a BADASS in those), but he still did some pretty crazy stuff.

I don't hate him, but he never really grew on me. Heck, I liked Jacob better than him!
