I don't know how it is on PS3 or PC, but on XBL, there are some truly terrible people on there. During matches, it is not uncommon to have someone get on the mic and literally start cursing at you for being a "(expletive) moron" or "retard." or whatever. I have a thick skin but it does get a little tiresome to have to constantly mute people. I'm not into reporting either, because it's just a game, but jeez, the level of venom and just all around atrocious behavior on Xbox makes me want to only play games on my PC forever.
Anyone else notice this, or was it just a bad weekend?
There are some serious social rejects on XBL

I've never run into this problem on XBL.
Most people I've seen were either tolerable or didn't have a mic.

I've heard this often. I play with someone who migrated from Xbox to PC for this very reason.

The only times I have to deal with things like that is when people kick me. Usually because I'm not N7 >1000.
Although there was one guy who was making fun of the whole team without realizing his mic was on. It was good-natured so I didn't mind, but it was pretty funny sending him that PM.

I did hear somebody crying loudly about the feedback from somebodies kinect mic the other day. Something about wanting to know who it was so they could give them a beating or something.

Anonymity does strange things to a person. Especially knowing they aren't at physical risk so they can be as abusive as they like without risk to themselves. It's like picking on someone you think is weaker but they suddenly turn out to be this burly muscle bound hulk who can break not only your face but your ribs, legs, ah you know what I'm saying.
However since you only know this person by their voice and a name that's not even a real person's name what have you got to lose?
That combined with a frustrating weekend of carrying greedy people who don't know how to handle Reapers on Gold and yeah. tempers rise.

I had a hilarious fellow in a PUG today. The guy was like Dave Chapelle on speed. It was awesome.
But yeah, the world of online gaming is generally where class, etiquette and social skills come to die.

I've been playing on XBox since release and haven't had a problem with this. Most of the people I've met are really polite and fun to play with. Several were brits.

Bad weekend, perhaps you should play with people like me, great banter, sarcasm, charged on caffeine from my earl grey tea.... Wielding my collector rifle with pride and charging into banshees and brutes as the AV shouting FREEDOM!!!! at the top of my voice....
Yes you've met some truly terrible people.

Got called a retard today playing a FBWGG game as a Salarian Engineer. Only guy on his mic was banging on at me saying; "Hey, retard, put your decoy HERE"
Somewhat difficult to do when it's impossible to tell which of the three is talking or indeed where the decoy was supposed to be with no method of being shown. Left after I figured it was a farming game, since everyone gave themselves willingly to pyros after the wave ten hack and then shouted at me to die rather than trying to take on the Primes they'd left behind.
PS3, by the way. ****s on every platform.

I'm on XBL, and yes I've noticed this too. If I enter a lobby with some mouthy people, I just leave. Give a person a mic and an anonymous identity, and anything can happen.

PC has its own issues too.

I didn't run into any uneducated kids playing ME3, but I'm pretty sure there are some out there...

there really must be some wicked forum-devil who utterly hates me.

I always start an Xbox Live Party before going into MP; even if I'm all alone in the party, it effectively mutes everyone I encounter. I'd rather my lack of communication lead the team to ruin than endure whatever the average XBL jerk has to say.

I've encountered the usual rogue's gallery of jerks, weirdos, and prepubescent children playing on PS3, but the vast majority of games I play are entirely mic-less.
There are some good people with mics, though. My first Gold game had a dude very patiently guide me and some other noobs to victory against Cerberus.

Did a FBWGG in anticipation for new dlc. A salarian engi joined that kept messing up our match and had no idea what he was doing, wouldn't even run to us and tried to lone wolf from the other side of the map. One guy got upset and started calling him retarded.
Other than that, i've never heard of any berating on PS3 ME3.
