I bought Mass Effect 3 only recently. I really like the game, but I really hate the DRM. At the installation it took me some time to install Origin, update Origin. Than I was asked for my username and password. I don't have one. Tried to create one, received an answer that I already have one and that it require an activation code. Try to find an e-mail about that, I didn't. I logged with my browser, ask to reset the password, wait the e-mail, changed password. Figured that it was my EA account used in Mass Effect 2 that was used for Origin Account. Finally finished to install the game. I was so disgusted with the problems that I didn't feel like playing anymore.

The next day, I start playing. Again I really like the game. But having to connect to Origin, than to EA server every time, that's really annoying. More annoiying, I usually put my PC in sleep, every night. But many time, when I come back and try to start the game, I cannot log on Origin, at least not until I reboot my PC. That is frustrating! Frustrating enough that I intend not to buy another EA game, at least not for some time.

With all this annoyance, you just allienate honest player. I buy my games, I want to be able to play it without having to reboot my PC and connect to two different servers. I didn't search for, but I sure of one thing, put any kind of DRM, someone will find a way to bypass it. I don't say that you should not protect your game. I say that at some point it just too much an you just allienate honest gamers.

I don't imagine that this post will change anything, but maybe, just maybe, if enough people complain, yoiu will not repeat the same thing in future games.

But for now, EA is on my black list. I will not purchase another EA game for some time. I also do the same with Ubisoft, for the same reason.

DRM management servicse like Origin and Steam iare becoming pretty commonplace in the PC game market. Origin AFAIK does not actually require you to be connected to the internet to play games. You can select the "Go Offline" option and it will not try connecting. And if it does have to connect you don't have to restart your whole computer, just try resetting your network adapter.

As for ME3 itself logging in, I think they are having some problems with that recently. However if your internet adapter is disabled ME3 will not try connecting to EA's servers at all.

I just purchased an EA game.

On Steam. During their sale. Crysis 2. For 12 dollars. Whoopsie, have I cheapened their IP?

OT: OP is not alone in his dislike of Origin. I'd gladly give up Multiplayer to get rid of Origin.

Mass Effect 3 attempts to connect to the ME3 server even if Origin is in offline mode. To get around this, you have to disconnect your PC from the internet entirely. It will not attempt to make connection and you don't have to authenticate DLC if you've done that at least once.

This is user-to-user tech support. You're talking to other game owners, not BioWare or EA.  The only BioWare dev who posted here recently was audio lead Rob Blake, and he has nothing to do with the Origin service.
