Liliana and my female human look cute as hell in banded mail. Also very form fitting. It makes them look stacked. That's the only real benefit.

Comparative stats:

Sten equipped in Varathorn's Armor, Gloves of Diligence, Dwarven Armored Boots (steel), and Juggernaut Helm --- Armor Points: 25 Fatigue: 11.3%

Sten equipped in full Juggernaut Armor --- Armor Points: 29 Fatigue: 32.5%

I'll trade 4 points of armor for 21% less fatigue any day!

In short, some of the special medium armor pieces are really pretty kick-a**, aside from just being pretty, and the lower fatigue penalty can be very beneficial to your melee rogues or non-tank warriors. You just have to get a little creative about what you pair them up with in order to get the most mileage out of them.

My only wish regarding armor is that Bioware had provided us rogue-lovers with some more special light and medium armor sets. It's a bit frustrating that there are far more special massive armor sets than one could ever possibly use, while the only special light and medium armor sets (full sets, not just pieces) are the ones Wade can make. (No, I don't count Dalish as "special" armor, and I can't get a full set of Ancient Elven b/c of the missing boots bug for pc gamers (I don't like to use mods, so I guess I'll have to wait for this to be fixed in an update).) Even having only 1 special heavy set (2 if you include Wade's) seems a bit lacking. Why such an overabundance of massive?

I know wades heavy armor is where it is at for non-tanking warriors, but the dragonbone just looks sooo good! So I always get the Dragonbone and put it on Sten because I never use him....

For my 3 2h group though I will get wade's heavy.

What I don't understand is why medium armour has such a high strength requirement at Tier 7?

Strength requirements for light-medium-heavy-massive are at: 20-34-38-42. A 14 point gap between light and medium.

My Lethality based rogues go for light armour and leave strength at bare minimum to equip Wade's Superior Drakeskin with some +attributes equipment. Frankly, if medium armour requires a good deal less strength I would have preferred to use medium on my rogue for the looks; I think 20-28-36-42 is a better distribution.

Yeah, Wade's Heavy is nice. I used that on my Arcane Warrior on my first playthrough. I may upgrade Sten to it this time around when I get there (haven't done the Urn quest yet).

I'm not sure what the higher Mediums are good for. As far as I can tell, the Light armor is almost as good, so that's what I put my rogues in. The benefit is that I don't have to spend extra points on strength.

No it isn't

Heavy armor is the end all be all for low fatigue for non tank warriors

Evon the greats mail + wades superior heavy dragonscale chainmail = like 3% total fatigue , I just beat the game with a character wearing that

What use is medium armor? Nobody knows... what use is shapeshifter? Nobody knows...

Its like in real life when you question the existance of certain things... like roaches? things in the world and in video games really serve no purpose except to be useless/annoying

Just because an armor is expensive doesn't mean that it's any good.
Evon's armor has exactly 1 beneficial stat for non-tank warrior, which is the Stamina regen. Everything else benefits a tank much more, and the stamina + fatigue reductions you miss out on by not using all pieces of Wade's Superior medium or heavy armor is massive.
My warrior in the medium dragonskin armor has a fatigue of -22,3% without anything activated.

Actually, I am pretty sure you get the set bonus when you use Evon the great's mail in place of the heavy dragonscale chainmail Breastplate.  But you are right about the tanking stats being questionable for a dps character.

Medium armor is the sexiest armor, therefore it is the best armor.

Medium Armor. Buy it for looks, buy it for life. It's mostly cosmetic, really. And, if you're willing to accept the fatigue penalty, Rogues can use it for a more Warrior-like appearance. As mentioned above, if you have a good tank your DPS Warriors won't need massive armor except for the godly Warden Commander's set from Warden's Keep. Sten and Ohgren can happily wear heavy chain or even regular chain mail and wail away while Alistair or Shale tank the baddies.

I agree, the only use I see for medium armor (and heavy armor for that matter) is for when your heavy melee can't equip massive armor yet.

On a side note, am I the only one that thinks it was a huge oversight that they let you swap armor during combat? You couldn't do that in the old Baldur's Gate games, and it made pretty good sense why not. Arcane Warriors are overpowered enough without being able to start a fight in mage clothes, dump your mana pool, then toss on massive armor. /shrug

Yea, it´s not very realistic to change clothes in a fight. But, then again, it´s probably easier than throwing fireballs and catching enemies in a prison made out of spirit. If your average AW can do that, why should he be unable to change his armor?

LOL, Beautiful.

Yup I don't get this either.  In fact same with higher tier light armours.  Why should a tier 6 light armour need more STR to wear than a tier 3 medium armour?  It's still "light"er!!  In terms of gameplay, surely light & medium armours are for charachters more focused on DEX than STR so why prevent you from wearing the best armour for that type of charachter?  :-S

I never use Medium and Heavy armor simply because there aren't any good unique sets of either in Origins or Awakening. :/ Rogues get the Battledress of the Provocateur, the Shadow of the Legion, the Trickster armor set, and the downright awesome Blackblade Armor set (although you do need to install a mod to get the two missing pieces). Warriors get Cailan's Armor, the Warden-Commander Armor, and the Armor of the Sentinel. In contrast, the only Heavy Armor set in Awakening is the Stormchaser set, and it's leagues below the Sentinel Armor in terms of usefulness.

It's a pity, really. Not all Rogues need to be leather-wearing assassins and not all Warriors need to be walking tin-cans.

Never use medium armor, they are just the replacements when you are waiting for the greater items, and when you get them, get rid of the medium armor for some coins, it's better. For me I prefer the heavy armor or massive armor for my tank. For the rogue, of course light armor.
