Would you like minor RTS elements in DA3?

And as side note, did anyone else feel that there was an underrepresentation of guards in DA2? In DA:O there were several instances in the alleys where guards would help you fight. DA2 had specific city watch quests which were fun but with so many waives of bandits attacking you IN THE CITY every moment, it would have been nice to see some occassional "RTS" aid from guards/NPCs.

Please, leave it as it is, why does everyone want games to satisfy EVERYONE that is a fan of ANY gaming genre?

Now... more missions like the final levels of DAO or the suicide run on ME2, where you assign characters tasks and the evens all play out concurrently... That I could get into.

That is, you can position where all firendly units should take their positions before the final battle begins. That is actually something that I expected we would do in DA:O when gathering all the allies we could get.

I would see it done similar to the battle for vigils keep in Awakening, but with more troop movement and less enemy waves.
As for you second question
I never really noticed, but it would be great if bystanders would get involved in combat more.

I would like to see number-binding of companions, enchanced AI that will govern companions and let them execute tactics correctly.
But to control\\groups and such.

RTS is just not my cup of tea and I really think it is a cheesy additon to every non RTS it has been in.

This. I don't want any RTS elements in my RPG...
But, the occasional addition of some "outside the box" strategy elements would be cool.

No, the Dragon Age franchise is dark-fantasy RPG. (joke lol DA2).

Agree.

That said, it is perfectly possible for them to incorporate some strategic elements as well as tactical. A strategic element would be something like where you allocate the guards in Amaranthine in DA:A. Something that affects the grand picture. I liked that.

RTS in the usual sense, no. I wouldn't mind if they put in some battle like in the end of the second chapter in "hordes of the underdark" (NWN) though.

This is basically my position as well. The occasional larger-scale battle (with more allies, or things you needed to be doing alongside the fighting) would be welcome. But having a section where you switch to a third-person interface for playing Civilization or Shogun inside DA3? No.

QFT!
The sorts of missions/quests in past games that have involved strategy, but from an RPG point of view, in that you are called on to make decisions about where to allocate forces, or what tasks to give team members, have been the parts of those games that I've enjoyed the most.
ME2's suicide mission is a good example, and the defense of the keep in NWN2 is another.
I think this sort of a thing could be done even better, where decisions woud have weightier consequences, and the battle could go several different ways depending on those decisions.

I mean what if we lost a specefic battle... or several. Would they even care to make it impact the story? i'm not sure that it's a good idea to include it, not unless they are willing to go all the way and allow it to have a meaningfull impact on the world and the story.
