N7 Shadow - Thoroughly Impressed

With the extra 50% melee damage while in TC, you obviously are going to dish out more pain with SS. Killing those Phantoms will be even more satisfying. But what's better than that? Killing two Phantoms in a row in quick succession (Bronze or Silver). That bonus power from TC Rank 6 will allow you to use SS a second time without the first use breaking TC. Use the second SS before the full duration of TC is up and you get the huge damage/melee bonuses a second time.
It is also worth noting everyone that while Shadows can relatively hold their own against bosses, they are at their best eliminating the weaker enemies, allowing your team to focus on the bigger guys. You will take out a Phantom, an Engineer, some Centurions and Assault Troopers much faster than one or two Atlases. Keep that in mind.
Also, I've noticed while playing that TC with the duration bonus allows us to pop TC and cap objectives before or right as the duration of TC ends. This is perfect as it allows us to be great at capping objectives, obviously. Definitely help out your team where you best can.

Is it wrong for me to hope they screwed up?
Anyway, Damage:
SS
1590 - unless N7 Shadow actually affects it, still testing
3021 - Max Sword Mastery Damage, Max Damage SS, TC Duration, TC Melee
3657 Max Sword Mastery Damage, Max Damage SS, TC Damage, TC Melee
ES
1100 - Max Damage, No N7
1540 - Max Damage, TC Duration, No N7
1980 - Max Damage, TC Damage, No N7
1292 - Max Damage, N7 Power+Weight, N7 Power
1808 - Max Damage, TC Duration, N7 Power+Weight, N7 Power
2325 - Max Damage, TC Damage, N7 Power+Weight, N7 Power
Again, this is without gear mods, so melee enhance or power enhance will add to these numbers. Given the numbers, you see there are a ton of different builds, and it is actually viable to go duration without sacrificing too much damage.
Once I get some more respec cards, I am going to test and see if N7 Shadow is bugged or not when showing DPS boosts to SS.
~Edit~
Confirmed that N7 Shadow Power+Weight and Power, Evo 4/5, are incorrectly showing damage boost to SS. I took a Nemesis on Gold to 2 bars of Shield without cloak using a max damage SS (1590 Damage). I then added points into N7 Shadow which shows on SS a boosted damage from 1590 to 1800. I then did the same test on a Nemesis on Gold, a non-cloaked SS, which did the same exact damage as before.
So, now that that is out of the way, it becomes sort of a drop stat if you want to do max damage SS and still be able to set off max damage tech bursts.

Has anyone noticed cloak breaking after you revive someone, every time?

^Not sure what level you are, but I would recommend taking out ranks 4 and 5 in N7 Shadow and putting them in TC for the melee damage +50% bonus and the bonus power while cloaked (without deactivating cloak). Reason being is that Electric Slash is our only ability that benefits from power damage, the measly percentage from rank 5 N7 Shadow won't benefit you much. Also additional weight capacity is not needed as as a Shadow it's recommended you hardly use your gun.

Thankfully, I have one reset card left. Going to use that and see what I get. I noticed I wasn't killing mooks effectively enough on Silver with my present build. Hopefully this works better.

I think it counts as taking an action, which breaks it.
Anyway. Last night I bashed Silver for a good few hours, all 3 enemies, bunch of maps, different gears.
When it comes down to it? I'm STILL running:
Tactical Cloak:
6 Duration - Melee Damage - One Power
Electric Slash:
6 Radius - Detonation - Range
Shadow Strike:
6 Damage - DoT - Shield Regen
N7 Shadow (Passive):
0
Sword Mastery:
Damage - Damage - Armour Damage
It's still, in my mind, the best way to run her right now. It optimizes Shadow Strike damage, Electric Strike CC with explosion, long one power Cloak for double Strikes, Tech Bursts & escapes, then armour damage on your sword because we already deal with shields effectively enough but not armour, better to get the bonus to it.
As always - reinforce this in your mind - Cloaking while enemies can see you doesn't stop them seeing you. Only Shadow Strike a sync-kill (or extremely powerful) mob if you KNOW they're blind to you.

I specced my phantom for melee damage, tc melee, shadow strike full power evos. also use a hydraulic I equipment and a 25% melee damage for my phalanx. On gold, if i use TC and shadow strike together with all of that combined, i leave a phantom with 10% health or less, which I then proceed to tap b[as long as she's highlighted] until she dies. works great. Nemesis, centurion, etc all get OHK'd.Beatrix Tair wrote...

Odds are I'll be going for Power Damage as you will never, EVER, use a weapon as Shadow.
What do you do vs bosses? Is it easy to just hit and run with shadow strike on them?
I find that it depends on the mob.
Banshee - Electric Slash her until she drops to her weakened ("weakened") state, keep up the pressure & as long as you're quick, you can get Shadow Strikes in, yes. Just don't push your luck when she's powered up.
Brute - The most fun you will have with the Shadow, I PROMISE, is dancing with a Brute. Waiting for it to charge then Shadow Striking to teleport JUST as it's about to stop & cutting it from behind. Ridiculously fun.
Phantom - Electric Slash her, in all honesty. When she's too low on health to really survive, then Shadow Strike is viable, otherwise beware the sync-kill.
Atlas - Again, Electric Slash. The sync-kill makes Shadow Striking dangerous but once the Shields go down, sure, Shadow Strike the armour but make sure you back off!
So on & so forth :3.

Awesome :'3.
Still, you're not killing them outright, so they can still sync-kill you. This is why Tactical Cloak Duration Melee Damage One Power Evo is ridiculously awesome.
Shadow Strike, back up, Electric Slash (or Shadow Strike), or melee, or anything - the thing is, you're SAFE.
It just further diminishes the use of the N7 Passive, considering Power Damage only effects Electric Slash, we don't need Weight Capacity & we don't need Weapon Damage.
On that note: I've done a little bit of digging. It seems that Power Damage increasing the visual numbers on Shadow Strike is a BUG. Gonna report it :3.

Just got the Shadow (but won't be able to play for another 9 hours). Did I understand that correctly that shadow striking out of TC(yo dawg...) will actually add the TC melee damage bonus as well?

Indeed.
Shadow Strike is considered Sword Damage, which is a variation on Melee Damage.
Sword Mastery Track - all Sword Damage effects Light Melee, Heavy Melee & Shadow Strike;
Melee Damage Mods/Gear - all effects Light Melee, Heavy Melee, Shadow Strike;
Power Damage - DOES NOT EFFECT SHADOW STRIKE (or shouldn't, it's potentially bugged atm).

TC: power damage, melee damage, extra power
SS: spec it for damage only
ES: I forgot lol, got like three ranks i think
phantom passive[?]: damage and capacity, power damage[to help with ES, it's a very useful power, goes through walls like shockwave]
Fitness; melee/speed/melee.
Beatrix, I haven't been OHK'd by a phantom yet even on gold with my own phantom. I'm a strong believer in the fact that this game revolves more around decision making rather than "best or worst class."

But seriously - One Power Cloak & Double Shadow Strike is hilariously awesome.

I vastly disagree with so much Power Damage.
Electric Slash is good but it's extremely powerful WITHOUT wasting points on Power Damage.
If you have Duration & One Power on Tactical Cloak, you can drop Shadow Strike & Electric Slash for HUGE Tech Bursts. The damage is horrifying & MORE than outweighs any passive Power Damage from the N7 Shadow Passive.
Honestly, N7 Shadow Passive - useless.

It could be that the N7 passive power damage bonus applies to the ELECTRICAL DAMAGE over time effect (but NOT the initial sword hit but the electrical afterwards)?
If so - it's still vastly misleading.
The damage value on Shadow Strike is for Shadow Strike, not the DoT afterwards.
It's certainly possible but...personally? I'd still consider it a bug.
Still...
...even if it's true & Power Damage improves the DoT...the Passive is still useless x3.
Spent most of the morning trying to work out ANY way the passive is useful & no matter what I find out, I'm coming up zero.
Shame but...I'm not gonna complain, hehe.

(I only got fury and shadow character cards from burning
credits on PSPs).
Anyhow, I mostly played shadow on silver last night. 0 in
tactical cloak since I wanted to really focus on shadow
strikes. Silver pugs. I took the weight reduction n7 tree
perks since I wanted to try this out with a wraith (191% CD).
Also used the 40% damage reduction perk due to the
lack of cloak.
Totally fun build. It felt a lot like kasumi with the kill/instant
shadow strike set up. Start from cover, then chain teleport
shadow strike kill, or shadow strike/(melee or wraith shot)
kill everything.
I really don't like the geth in pug situations (e.g., non-farm
maps). So I took the shield/barrier damage perks rather
than armor damage. Definitely armor damage is the way
to go overall. But if you don't like geth, it's so much fun
to chain teleport destory them!
Really, really strong against all factions. The wraith was very
effective (melee mod, choke), but overall... It seemed pretty
obvious that sacrificing the wraith for cloak would be a more
team oriented character.

Hi. Good to hear, you are successful on gold. I personally start to dislike TC 4th evo. Damage. It makes practically 6th evo not that good. I know it should not happen and master won't have problem to strike 2x SS in short TC interval, but I personally feel, the Duration is a must
for me
. For observing, running bit away and then strike again, or just to run on other side of map, where it is safe.
I kinda agree that 6th evo of SS for shield drain is overated. It would be nice if at least against the geth, you would get shield no matter which enemy you face as with Shield drain. Also sometimes in fast action you have no time to search target with shields or, they are often in pack of another bunch of enemies. Dmg reduction Evo could on other side save live... hard to choose with those SS evos.
But as I said, great you have a good time whith Shadow. I really like that class and it is somewhat my "vanguard", which I was, on other side, not happy with so far in this DLC, but need to test him more. That is bit OT

And though it's true that she can outdo a Phantom at her own game (and I noticed, uses some of the same sound bytes, I think they have the same voice), be careful, because Phantoms are still quite capable of canceling your attacks with their own. In one case, a Phantom turned to face me just as I appeared behind her with Shadow Strike, and ripped me a new **** with her sword before I could hit her.

6 / 5 / 6 / 3 / 6, talon IX with a melee damage and barrel mod, juggernaut gear gear seems a good idea, (actually level II). Perhaps I will investigate other changes, still not very happy with Electric Slash, perhaps ones of those powers that will need a buff to give an edge on Platinum to this lady (highly unlikely)
