Seriously, why people were assuming this class was going to be bad is beyond me.
Viagra for the epeen it is not, therefore it's terribad. Not endoring that view.

Does anyone know if you can be sync killed from the front while the shield is up?
I'm guessing you can, but it would be awesome if they had to break it first.
Either way, once it's out on PC I look forward to resuming my standard role in RPGs as the damage sponge.
Looks like sync kills ignore the shield, but a phantom still tries to do her first melee attack resulting in her being knocked back and (in my case) set on fire. Banshee however just magicly makes the shield no longer there as she picks you up, no shield break or anything just yoink.

Makes sense I guess, the Banshee is tall enough to reach over the shield and grab your throat.Felhand wrote...

This is strange but for some reason,ED then flash freeze makes a tech burst.
It's because snap freeze not only freezes, it does damage. Unlike cryo blast.

My experience with the paladin is that he should not be played like a sentinel.he should be Played like an engineer. Although shield power is good,if you spec him lile a glass cannon you get a great caster class. This is strange but for some reason,ED then flash freeze makes a tech burst.
Oh, well that's good news, then. Looks like you should just ignore incinerate, go ED and FF, and then be a shield and tech burst machine?

Snapfreeze is a damage dealing tech power. So it would set off electrical effects.
BW knew what they were doing.
ED+SF = TB, finish em with incinerate and cause a cryo explosion.

Different stroke for different folks, I actually like incinerate.
I shall never understand the stigma against that power.

Sounds great, but can you clarify what happens when the shield breaks? Will there be a cooldown before you can deploy it again?
No. The second the shield breaks you can post another one instantly.
Still need to test on if you get staggered if it breaks due to small arms fire but I find that you're pretty much immune to everything. Even if the shield breaks you take no damage but anything that's broken my shield has staggered me so it leaves me somewhat vulnerable.
The shield has not been able to survived the following, Brute charges, Grenades at point blank range, Atlas Rockets, Phantom heavy melee, and one other thing that escapes me at the moment. Everything else was trivial to survive and bullets just tickled.

If you haven't tried a build/weapon/tactic on Gold, don't even bother trying to give advice about it. Every time I see somebody starting a thread and saying, "at least on Silver it seems awesome" I just roll my eyes into the back of my skull.
Now that there's Platinum difficulty I think that should go double.
I know this sounds elitist and all, but there's been a significant escalation in this game. Silver-viable strategies aren't all that informative, and pretty misleading if the strategy breaks down once you get to Gold.
I don't even want to think about what it takes for Platinum; I haven't been able to throw a match together yet.
So, bottom line, while I appreciate the zeal of the community and everybody is a special snowflake that has their own twinkly rainbow rights to play the game however they want and issue forth whatever materials they wish from their sparkly mouths, etc.
I can't really respect somebody that makes a thread with a "strategy write up" when they haven't even tried it on higher difficulty levels.

And I can't really respect somebody that craps on an informative thread. Who cares what difficulty level the TC was playing on, there's a lot of useful information on a new class here. This was not a brag thread by any stretch, but an attempt to inform. It's a positive contribution to the community, which means it was the exact opposite of your post.

Why not read the rest of my post for some context?
Difficulty level matters because it significantly affects the viability of a given build strategy. It can lead to misinformation if somebody uses tips based on Silver experience to cross over into a Gold game.
People who respond with points I've already refuted ****** me off.
I also never said OP was bragging.
Don't judge me because of my negative tone. Actually read my post and understand what I'm saying.

Cannot move, cannot shoot or cast, exposes you to 270 degrees of fire, and the upgraded shield breaks on a Silver grenade.
No me gusta.
True you cannot shoot or cast. You are exposed. Does NOT break on a silver grenade.
So far I am highly impressed witht he paladin class. Solid debuffs, and surprisingly good damage. Their melee is very good. You can cancel the shield by either hitting melee again, using a power or rolling. I prefer using a CQC weapon (the Pirahana is excellent) since most of my abilities require me to be close anyway.
Snap Freeze and Pirahana unload will kill a brute in silver and nearly kill them in gold. One melee bash away from death. Their non heavy melee hits like a heavy melee and is VERY fast, as well I believe it applies effects. I choose the fire effect. I have easily meleed down a brute, though i wouldn't suggest it lol.
Plus energy drain and the this is a very hardy class. Not sure about Plat but on gold and silver it's really good.

Did you read the rest of the thread? You know, the bits where a bunch of people (the TC and others) posted explaining how the new abilities and the shield mechanic work? This thread is not about build strategies, it's a bunch of people figuring out how a new thing works. To take issue with the fact that it's not about optimal builds for Platinum is silly. You want a thread about optimal builds for Platinum, go make one.
