Gascard killed people for the express purpose of turning them into zombies.
Merill hasn't killed anyone intentionally. Marethari's death was her own fault. And Isabella killed people out of self-preservation; as in killing the person who is trying to kill you.
But i'm not here to judge your preferences. I'm sure Gascard is a fine lad.

Isabela killed people who rting to protect themselves from her. You think she become a pirate to talk with people?
Isabela just want their money. Gascard kill one woman for knowledges. There is not much difference between them.

My assessment was made on the basis that I think all blood mages in DA2 are somehow megalomaniac. They all seem to suddenly lose contact to reality and think themselves invincible... why else would Gascard risk opposing Quentin and Hawke at the same time thinking he can walk out alive? Unfortunately no necromancer has as of yet been able to resurrect himself.

I know he's adorable and all that but most blood mages end up becoming crazy anyways as the Desire demon from the Exiled Prince DLC says, "I could create such desires as I wished, but it's far easier to nuture those that already exist."
