They really need a better mechanism for announcing patches and updates.
/agree If it wasn't for this post, I'd never have known there was a patch.
Additionally, because a Bioware patch contains all previous patch versions it makes it kind of tough to tell what the newest fixes are in the latest patch.
Lastly, there is very little (as in none) acknowledgment of performance issues being addressed. And yes, this game has performance issues on a wide variety of decent machines.

- Various issues could occasionally cause uploads to the online player profile to fail unexpectedly. This no longer occurs.
was changed to
- The screenshot upload GUI would stop working from time to time on the client. There was a memory override that was fixed. It is a client fix. It doesn't affect the other problems we have seen on the server.

The "updating news" segment on launcher (area flanked with 2 red dragons) is still useless, they could like, use that.
Thought that very thing to myself last night..what's it there for if not to use..

As always, grabbing latest version of patch is recommended and these are cummulative - you can go from 1.0 game or anything prior to 1.02a (or whatever the latest patch is) without having to install the in-between patches.
Good suggestion about the launcher banner - I'll look into us being able to use this for patching updates.

What is it being used for now, anyway? I've never seen anything there except an "Updating news" for less than a sec.

*sigh* this game has been a nightmare when it comes to support, patches, fixes..etc...really turning me off to BioWare
Really? There's been what - four patches in less than two months which have adressed a number of issues pointwed out by various game players.

Would have it been so hard for them to have included an autoupdater for Dragon Age, as you had for Neverwinter Nights?
This.
Why not use a system that has worked before - especially given the number of patches Bioware releases? So many other games have this feature and makes it really easy to keep the game up-to-date.
I guess this is another of EA's rules so that the patch can only be downloaded by registered users.
Edit:

Yes, but the patches haven't been announced anywhere! I happened to find out about all the patches only through threads like these. Same thing goes for the Toolset patches.
If an auto-updater or news feed into the launcher is not possible, why not use our registered email addresses to send a 'Patch Release' email? EA Marketing has no qualms about sending me an email and asking me to buy the same DLCs I already have...would it be too much trouble to send another email saying a patch has been released for the game I registered with them?
Also, in NWN, it was possible to just download and install diff patches through the Updater. This is a huge benefit to gamers around the world with slower internet connections since cumulative patches just keep getting bigger and bigger. Something Bioware can think about, maybe.

Should have got the Steam version.
