What should I choose if I wish to play a power house? :P

I do not intend to biclass the berserker, I'm just interested on your opinion about these two fighters kit, because I seem not to be able to decide.
Thank you

For the standard game I think the below is correct.

Barbarian runs faster, rages quicker. Re-rages immediately. Gets more hit points per level. not immune to imprison when enraged. Easier to hit when enraged (armour class increases by 2). Physical attributes increase when enraged making him/her more likely to hit enemies and do more damage. At higher levels damage resistance reduces the amount of physical injury enemies can inflict. Immune to backstab. Can only add 2 points to weapon styles, not a massive downside in the un-modded game and can do this for melee or ranged weapons.

Berserker rage lasts longer but ends with fatigue. Cannot enrage again until fatigue wears off. Can reach 5 points in melee weapon style but restricted with bows etc. Armour class reduces by 2 when enraged (think) so harder to hit. Immune to imprisonment when enraged.

Most people choose berserker. I prefer barbarian but wouldn't say it is better, just suits my play style. Either way, dwarf is the best race (saving throws will be zero by about levels 11-13 from memory assuming constitution is maxxed).

Barbarians are also not able to wear plate armour. Together with the +4 difference in AC when raged compared to the berserker this makes them less useful as a tank in BG1 and early BG2. However, their physical resistance means they are better equipped in the later stages of BG2 when tough enemies are likely to hit either character almost all the time.

I agree. I've always assumed that a dwarf eventually is the toughest tank since he is a natural for Crom Fayr and axes from a role playing standpoint, with a half-orc pure fighter coming in second.

Regarding the rage immunities, while the barbarian rage does not give immunity to imprisonment, it does give immunity to all the other effects (level drain, fear, domination, hold, etc) and in vanilla, the game AI THINKS enraged barbarians are immune to imprisonment and doesn't bother casting it :P
