For me,  a lot of the anxiety that comes with starting a new RPG lies with creating my character. With NWN2, and similar RPGs, I read FAQ after FAQ trying to figure out what were the best attributes, skills, perks, etc., for the type of character I wanted to portray. I did this partly because I knew that I would probably only play through the main quest once or twice before moving on to a mod, or being finished with the game altogether.

At first glance, the character creation process in Dragon Age seems pretty limited, and it is. But when you take into account that Bioware has hand-crafted an origin story for each of the race/class combinations, and this story is integrated throughout the campaign, all of a sudden you want to create a character for each combination and play through them all. This is assuming that the main campaign takes into account your origin story choice, making it relevant throughout the length of the campaign and surfacing enough to break up an monotony of doing the same quest over and over with each.

This, coupled with the early release of the character creator, has allowed the community to create mulitple character combinations that they are dying to play in the game. It's as if we are chained-up dogs that they are poking with a stick, and come November 3rd, when they unhook that chain, I'm gonna bite this game right in the ass.

Why thank you! Late nights pouring over old tomes and the stress that comes with an insatiable thirst for power, does wonders for the skin....

Tsk. Poor humans. All that water and not a drop to drink, hm? Poring over old tomes seeking power to slake one's desires does not need to cause leathery, parched skin. Why, I've spent at least as long as you, dear boy, and my skin looks fabulous.

Edit: On a side note, nested quotes don't seem to work very well with this WYSIWYG text editor...

Mind your tounge, Elf! Lest you lose it! I don't know what fantasy world you're living in, but you would do well to remember that you are a second class citizen in this one...

I hold the same rank as you, human. I have proceeded through the same training and grasped the same magicks as you - quicker, probably. Unless you wish a fist full of fire thrust into your chest and clasped about your heart, you'd best hold your tongue before your betters.

Good luck in your Harrowing. May the demons possess you - and I'll look forward to happily offering support to ending you.

Sorry, Arcite. I'm using Windows 7 and it's working wonderfully. What kind of errors are you getting? Are your video drivers up to date? DirectX using the latest redistributable package? Video card in use? Processor power?

Need more information before I can offer any tech help.

All that's between us is air (and lack of multiplayer), tree hugger!

Why don't you post your thread in a relevant forum, instead of hijacking mine? TIA

(Mages always have m-peens that they have to back up. You kidding? It needs to happen more often. Aarik will be challenging every mage he comes across - and kicking ass, just like his predecessors in every game he's been incarnated in.)

Bring it, human. I'll give you the appropriate amount of time to put your affairs in order, for you'll not be returning from this duel.

Edit: Arcite, try running it in Compatability mode for Windows XP and running it as Administrator. Vista is fickle. Upgrade to 7 ASAP. It doesn't have near as many problems. (Also, I don't want to hijack, but I'm happy to offer advice, regardless of the thread.)

Ah, this is where we begin the archetypical dwarven/elven rivalry, is it? Very well, I'll play my part. *ahem*

Come, you filthy knee-humper! If you can see past the sparrow's nest that is your face, I welcome you to try! I've always wondered what roast dwarf would taste like. I hear tell you taste like chicken - gamy, stringy and awful chicken, but chicken nontheless!

(In other news, the idea of facing down a Dwarven Templar with a Mage terrifies me. Dwarven disconnect from the Fade, plus the Templar's anti-mage abilities? *brrr*)

(so you always play as a pompous, gay elf?  ^_^ )

The day I let a leaf-scarfing, forest-frolicking, Elf, that uses words like fabulous, best me; Is the day I give up this craft for good!

(lucky this guy is a rogue then :P)

HAH! My height just makes stabbing vulnerable places much easier. Besides, I doubt pretty lights from a skinny twig in robes would stop my blade! At least I have meat on my bones so a sudden gust of wind doesn't blow me away!

(Yes. Yes, I do. Bisexual rather than gay, though, when the opportunity presents. And yes, yes it is. It just struck me that a Dwarf Templar would make a Mage cry into his robes and run screaming in terror from the very *idea* of it.)

Pfah! You mistake me for one of those Dalish freaks, I think, human. On the subject of my diet, I have a more refined palate. Only the flesh of arrogant humans, delicately roasted upon magefire, can sate my own hunger.

And as for you, little dwarf. Run along and play; don't you have some noble quest to die beneath the earth to attend to? You'd not like it if I cheated you of that death, I think.

Just because you wear fancier clothing than the Dalish, doesn't make you any less savage. You freely admit to cannibalism. Why your kind isn't still enslaved today is beyond me!
