The Drain sounds nice, but damage is always welcome.
Which do you prefer and why?

More details? I forget the specifics of each.

I went for the drain. I've not really used the dot effect of annihilation field much. I usually just combo anything in the field. Damage will make it a guaranteed kill when detonated off dark channel on most lower tier enemies I think.

Drain. Damage is nice but not as good as Drain.

Definitely drain. Very useful in times of need and the damage boost isnt enough.

I thought drain would be much better but was underwhelmed, didn't seem to trigger much at all. I'm not sure entirely how it works, I think there are cases in which it triggers, then the thing that gets close damages you but your shields don't recharge because it already triggered. I've only played 2 games with it though so want to test it out properly.

The AF's effect seems to wear off quickly once enemies leave range, so I mostly like it for priming BEs rather than actual damage. The minor bit of shield restoration can have effects that last a bit longer, such as being a little bit less dead than you might have been.

The primer, Dot, and shield Drain all wear off the moment you get too far from them.

Does an enemy with DC already on it detonate when it enters the field or do you have to cast DC on it while it is in the field to cause the detonation?

Neither. There are 3 ways to do BEs w/ the Fury:
DC + Throw
DC + AF (detonate the field)
AF (not detonate, just have enemy in the field) + Throw
