Bullfeathers. You all think the solution is to "play more" and bank credits and uninstall DLC to tweak the numbers in my favor. Well, it's not going to make much of a difference, because I've made a dent in the Resurgence items already, and the Rebellion items. Here's how my manifest stands as of now:

It's clear you haven't bothered reading the posts you're responding to.  I didn't claim you need to play more in my post, I said you need to stop worrying about the level of your weapons because if you are any good the level doesn't really matter.  Is it nice to have a level 10 weapon?  Sure.  Necessary?  Not even close.  It's idiotic to even try and make that claim.

Siansonea II wrote...

Rare Weapons: There are a total of 180 slots in this category, I've filled 113 of them. (113/180)

Irrelevant, you possess 16/18.  The only ones you do not possess are the ones you claim you do not want.

Siansonea II wrote...

Rare Characters: There are 108 slots in this category, I've filled 42 of them. (42/108)

Irrelevant.  You only need one per character to have complete access to that skillset.  You have more characters unlocked than I do...  customization options are purely aesthetic in nature.

Siansonea II wrote...

Now you tell me, if the Rare cards dropped evenly for all these Rare categories, why is the percentage of Rare characters so low?

Why ask questions in one sentence and then answer them in the next?

Siansonea II wrote...

THAT is my point. Every time I get a Rare Weapon Mod or a Rare Gear Item, that's an opportunity to get a new character card that I have LOST. And uninstalling the Rebellion DLC doesn't help unlock Rebellion characters, uninstalling the Earth DLC doesn't help me unlock the Earth characters, etc.

Why do you keep posting about something you don't even come close to understanding?  If you want to improve your chances at getting Earth DLC items or characters, uninstall all of the DLC except Earth.  You already have most of the vanilla items and characters maxed out which means every time you get a rare now it's all but guaranteed to be from one of the dlc packs.

Uninstall the dlc packs and you limit the field of possible outcomes of a rare item to vanilla and Earth since you can not receive an item that is already maxed out.  When you're done buying packs reinstall the dlc and go play for more if you want, or don't.  It's your choice.

Siansonea II wrote...

And that's not even addressing Ultra Rares. Got my Eagle II in my Commendation Pack yesterday. Oh joy of my life, the Eagle II y'all. Image IPB

Oh poor you, you got a less-than-fantastic "ultra-rare" for 45 minutes of play.

I guess you missed the part that it's the CHARACTERS that I want. And I guess it also didn't register that I have a much higher percentage of weapons slots unlocked opposed to character slots, due to the drop rate of the two types of Rares and the fact that Rare character cards will still drop after you max a character. I STILL get Drell Vanguard cards, even though he was my first Rare character maxed. So the Rare characters drop at a lesser rate than the Weapons and other stuff.

Oh, grow up.

If you used the brain god gave you and read what I typed you might have noticed that uninstalling the DLC that contains the items and characters you do not want you remove them from the potential items you can get out of the packs you buy.

Rare character cards do not drop after you have maxed out the appearance items.  If by "I still get Drell Vanguard cards..." you really mean "The last time I played the game was two months ago and I still got drell vanguard cards" your statement could be true without you being a liar, however your statement as you have typed it cannot be true.  It hasn't been true for nearly a month.

As I said in my original post, do you know anything at all about what you're writing about or are you just desperate for attention?

Multiplayer sucks. The gameplay is really fun, but spending hours just to get what we want is not. At all. Just another way for EA to make more and more money with the dumb*sses that spend actual money with this sh*t. Mass Effect 2 was a nice game to play casually. Mass Effect 3 is not. If you consider yourself a casual gamer, you should have quit MP a long long time ago.

You can choose free DLC or no junk in the store.

If you dont get fed up with crappy drop rates in the store you wont shell out cash for more boxes
If you dont spend money in microtransactions at the store, the DLCs cannot be free.

Money from store pays for dlc!

I'd almost rather just pay for the DLC at this point. Maybe it would keep the more dedicated guys playing while making Bioware offer something better than "new trash pistol and Firebase London!".

Well, since most of the FILLER is in the same pack as the items I want, I don't see how this helps, because, you know, math. I'll still have to deal with the same amount of filler. Before the Earth DLC, I was trying to get the last three Rebellion characters I don't have, and finish getting the Appearance unlocks for the Resurgence characters. Then the Earth DLC comes along with six new characters, some of which I want (and one of which I did NOT want, but got anyway), and a bunch of filler to dilute the Rare drop pool. I don't think you understand the exact nature of my complaint, or you would understand that your "solution" won't help. The drop rate of the character cards is STILL going to be less than the other crap.

And why don't you grow up? You sound more petulant and entitled than anyone else in this thread.

I haven't gotten the typhoon, but so far I've loved EVERY new thing that has come out so far (besides maps; jury is still out on that one).

I'm pleased. But I also don't have excess of things to unlock like newer players and/or those who do not play often/much. So difference of perspective and whatnot. I am pretty much guaranteed to unlock the new stuff with every PSP/SP I buy.

I like the gambling aspect of the packs to a point. I've paid for a lot of my content--I didn't mind paying for it because I like this game a lot (it's my way of saying thanks to bioware and ea)....and I really wanted to catch up (I got me3 about 3 weeks or so ago). I'll stop spending for a while because of the amount I've spent so far and because I feel comfortable enough with what I have. Anything else I get is just a bonus and that's fine.

I'm fortunate enough to have a job in the real world that permits me to waste some of my money sometimes (what I do is merely a step above fast food--I'm not rollin' in dough). I don't have the time to play this game 24/7 to grind for the good stuff. So I spent a little extra money on packs. Yea for me. I do support the suggestion for a better variety of packs, like being able to buy packs that have a concentration of random weapons, etc.

If everyone could buy exactly what they want there wouldn't be much variety in gameplay. The random factor keeps things a little interesting--I like being able to think about how I should adjust my strategy. This keeps it fresh.

Uh no.  You won't.  Watch a few hours of Sesame street and then count the number of items that willl no longer appear in your item packs with all the DLC you are uninterested in uninstalled and subtract that number from the totals you gave us earlier.  That number is smaller than the current number... it's not a difficult concept to grasp.

I get it. I looked at your manifest, I know EXACTLY what kind of player you are. All you care about is maxing your weapons. Funny how you have so many maxed Rare weapons, but only one maxed Uncommon weapon. You’re one of those “I only buy PSPs” players. Your 3 Medi-Gels is also a testament to that, and also to the fact that you die a lot in your matches and people don’t fall all over themselves to revive you. Wonder why. And with all your maxed Rare weapons, incredibly you still have 9 of the 24 Rare characters locked, and only the original six Rare characters are maxed. So the crux of the issue I’ve brought up, the drop rate of Rare character cards compared with other Rare items, is EXEMPLIFIED BY YOUR OWN MANIFEST. Your reading comprehension is as bad as your people skills.

Sabbatine, I think you need to remember that this is a game after all. You know it's kinda scary that you get so upset about something like this...really..CHILL OUT. I know play Mass Effect it's a great game.

And, this is off topic but something that is sort of relevant, Carbon-based singled out 3 female posters for some reason. It is quite odd the difference in squadmate treatement when playing as a female against playing as male in MP. And no, you don't know from the name. It isn't always the case. But there it is, one of those things.

But please Sabbatine, you do seem to have posted to vent your spleen rather than make any meaninfgul contribution. Missing the point entirely regarding the characters.

I think we can all agree the shop is far from perfect. Let's leave it there.

So yay, now there are more Rare items in the Store to dilute the pool and make it even harder to get the items we actually DO want. More Gear items. Booyah. More Weapon Mods. Woohoo. I was so pleased to get that new SMG mod, it's going to really transform my gameplay. That's so much better than finishing leveling up my handy-dandy humble Carnifex.

Not.

I can't imagine what a new player must think when they look at the bewildering array of crap they have to level up in order to level up the things they actually USE. I get that they're trying to get obsessive compulsive people to spend cash money to collect their bits and bobs, but it sucks for the rest of us who aren't completionists who just want to have a good weapon, or frickin' Pattern options for our go-to characters. :pinched:

The shop just gave a Harrier II, Saber V, Talon III. In 4 PSPs. I'm in love with the shop :D.

More seriously, yeah the RNG is a troll. A great, big, fat and ugly troll. So, remember, stay gold (plat now) and buy PSPs.

Wait, so you don't get what you want in a random draw?
The chances you get the item you want is too low? The "delete other DLC" DOES increase your chances actually. Want EARTH characters? Delete the others and buy some PSPs, yeah you have more chances at getting a weapon still but isn't that the point of a random reward system..to be random?

At the heart of it, the entire progression of the MP is to grind games and level things up. Try actually using some of the items and weapons you are unlocking instead of complain you want something else. Always use the widow? Take the falcon out for a test run. Learn its ups and downs.

There is so much variety in the weapons that if you limit yourself to "I want this and only this!" the game will have no purpose after you get them all to X other than to see how high you can get your N7 rating.
Surely you don't enjoy playing the same enemies on the same maps over and over and over again simply for the heck of it?
It's been only two days since the FREE DLC hit, and yes it *is* free, and you are complaining already? It took me weeks to get ONE character from the last DLC. Didn't see me coming to the forums complaining about the system that is working perfectly.

Free stuff is cool but OP has a point, some of it is pretty trash.

I used to get really mad every time I unlocked a disciple instead of something I wanted, now I Keep getting Acolytes, and they look similar, IS THERE A CONNECTION HERE.

someone first starting out is in a bad situation because they have a lot more to weed through before potentially getting something they like, my friend just started a month ago and is no where near getting the geth character he wants

There is this cool thing people can do that is called not getting the optional update.
My friend wanted a geth character when he recently started, he got it once and lost it due to connection issues, got it again and lost it again, then got it a third time.

Being new to the game isn't such a big deal as people make it out to be.

I don't LIKE the random system. Was that not clear? And I WANT CHARACTER UNLOCKS FROM ALL THE DLCS. This workaround DOES NOT HELP ME. Can we stop beating this dead horse now?

You assume I haven't tried all these weapons. I have tried most of them. I've tried ALL the characters I've unlocked. Some of them I like, some I don't. Some I'll only play on Bronze. I will only play Asari Justicar Adept or Geth Engineer if I'm playing Gold, those are the only two characters I can really play well. I'm not a twitchy trigger-happy shooty-shoot type of player, so all these weapons and mods don't hold nearly as much allure for me as the opportunity to play new characters. Sorry if that's not the way YOU play, but there it is.

What people are suggesting is basically this: If you want some characters from Resurgence, remove all the others first (after storing up some money). Once you have obtained the desired character, then move on and change, uninstall Resurgence and install Rebellion (still keeping Earth and others uninstalled)

You may have to repeat the process of "Install all packs, earn bulk money" prior to uninstalling, keeping the desired DLC and then binge buying. It is work, no one is disputing it yet it is a workaround that helps you attain your desired goal.

As an alternative if you don't want to go through all that installing and uninstalling, set your expectations low like me! Since release, I still have no obtained the Black Widow. It is something that I would like to use. In the absence of it, I just make do.

In closing, you mentioned that you do not want to spend 40 hours a week playing to 'keep up'. There is no keeping up in this game - Okay maybe there is, but if you know your limitations and capability, you don't have to harbor that mindset. (I'm talking about myself too)

No longer am I the university chap I once was with 12-16 hours of free time to play games, so there isn't really a need or desire to 'keep up', We have got to be true to ourselves. Age comes, priorities change and responsibilities increase.

After reading all this, I feel that if you just realign your view in this, things won't appear to be so grindingly, excruciatingly boring. Worse case? take a 2 month break off the game.
