I pretty much have done just that. If the goal is to frustrate the relatively casual players and make them put down their controllers, well, they've succeeded.

Did I not tell you how to advert this?

just remove the DLCs when you wan to buy something particular

remove all if trying to achieve original items

keep only resergance if trying to get those

keep only rebellion when trying to achieve those

keep only earth if trying to receive these

it will not hurt anything at all just add it back when you want to play a game

So what if I want character cards from Resurgence, Rebellion AND Earth? Say I ditch Rebellion and Earth. Okay. I'll only get Vanilla and Resurgence Rare drops. Okay. That doesn't help me get my Rebellion and Earth characters. And I still have to wade through all the Rare spam items from the vanilla game and Resurgence. Which isn't much. Of course, I've ALREADY unlocked a lot of stuff from the vanilla game and Resurgence. As for Rebellion, say I delete the other two DLCs. Then I'm just pulling from Rebellion and the vanilla game. How does that help me get Earth characters? And I'm still dealing with the Gear spam from Rebellion, and the new weapons from Rebellion. Okay, by the time I've done this, I've probably already maxed Resurgence, Rebellion and the vanilla game, because the character cards drop way less often than the other Rares. Having done the grind for those items will probably unlock and max most of the other Rare stuff anyway. But whatever, we'll still uninstall Resurgence and Rebellion and only have Earth active. I'm STILL competing with the Rare pool just from the Earth DLC, which contains all those new Rare Weapon Mods and Gear items, in addition to the new weapons, and in the process of trying to get the new characters, I guarantee you I'll end up unlocking EVERYTHING ELSE first. That's what happened with the vanilla game and Resurgence. It took FOREVER to unlock the Asari Adept and the Krogan Battlemaster. I didn't get the latter until after Rebellion had come out.

And I shouldn't have to go through all this rigamarole to game the system that is clearly effed up beyond belief. They should change the system. Or they can just accept the inevitable attrition of frustrated players who migrate to other games because of the unsatisfactory system.

THEN YOU DELETE THE FIRST PACK YOU GOT THE CHARACTERS FROM, AND REINSTALL THE 2ND!!
Jeeze. Also it's an RPG, casuals have no place here.

But here let me nail it into your head more.
delete all dlc and max out vanilla rare drops.
install dlc 1 and get what you want since you will not get vanilla or 2 or 3 dlc drops you are almost guaranteed to get dlc 1
delete dlc 1 and install dlc 2, get what you want and delete dlc 2
install dlc 3.

Too much work? Well it's optional but it also increases your chances...

Ehh???  so casual gamers not allowed then???  only people who can play 24/7.   Well It USED to be an RPG, now it feels more like a hybrid FPS.

Well much appreciated Maztor1225, but really??? If you want to uninstall & reinstall games all day, well that's up to you.  If you only have a couple of hours a night spare, that is just f****n stupid.    And they still have yet to fix all the disconnect problems and hangs with the store.  Don't tell me, you don't have any obviously.

The store is s***e and could be organised a lot better.  That is if Bioware or EA wanted that.  And when they stop letting you earn credits via gameplay and force you to pay with Bioware points, will you have the same opinion then?   I doubt anyone would be playing it anymore.

Might be the case if there were any skill involved in getting credits, but there isn't. You complete objectives for a set amount of credits, with a small increase if you do them quickly enough. There's no link between a player's skill and the number of credits they earn in a game. Almost anyone can farm Geth on Firebase White on Gold for 75000 every halfhour. That's just how it is.

Except that people with little more skill do it every 20 mins(thats 75k more per houer)
And those crazy good people do it in 10min or less(thats 300k more per houer)

Agree completely.   And I don't know how anyone can play for hours on end.   It's boring after a while.  There isn't really any incentive there.  I'm sure it could be made a lot better and maybe it will in time who knows.  But for now, it isn't that great compared to the single player.

OP, do you play Gold exclusively? Because 75k every 20 min is enough to unlock whatever you want pretty fast. Obviously, you'll still unlock things you'll never use, but it's the RNG.

I understand where you are coming from, but...

Seriously?

The DLC is free, everything is free (except for the Online Pass unless you bought the game new or lost the code). Sure, it does make it a bit harder to get that one upgraded weapon you want, but if you just wanted that, why not just buy the cheapest thing in the market over and over to get the upgrades for the basic weapons and such?

That's how I got the Avenger to its max upgrade in a day or two, and that's the weapon I use the most for my Biotic characters, since the cool down time is the shortest possible with just that, and maybe another weapon.

Again, I get where you are coming from, but it's all free (unless you buy the equipment with Microsoft Points, but I don's see why people would do that. >.> )

Personally I think new players that just start the game are overwhelmed by the mass of items they can get. It will be exciting for them to get new stuff they haven't seen and they will use them to see how they work and will get experiences in everything they get, just to know how they are. Playing instead for me is each new DLC a farm run. Collect credits, max the new stuff, check which I like go on. As new player there is more excitement what will there be in the next package because they have a wide choice. I know exactly what will come because I know what is left. Quite boring.

Yep, totally agree.  It's boring for more experienced players, i.e. playing since March.  I think that was a great idea btw, change it to how the one in ME worked  Image IPBImage IPB

Wow, you really didn't understand what I wrote at all, did you? Because I pretty much detailed exactly what you're suggesting. But your peremptory reply doesn't address the issue at all. GETTING THE DROPS YOU WANT FROM A SINGLE DLC AT A TIME IS NOT ULTIMATELY HELPFUL IF YOU WANT ITEMS FROM ALL THE DLCS. You're still going to have to suffer through all the filler in each individual pack, you will just be dealing with it seperately. You'll still have to play the same amount of MP to unlock the items you want, this "solution" only compartmentalizes the problem. If you've got 50 open Rare slots for the Rebellion Pack, you've still got items in that pool that you'll be unlocking way before the characters unlock. If you've got 75 open Earth slots, you've still got a much greater chance of getting yet another useless Gear or Weapon Mod Rare as opposed to unlocking a new character.

Seriously, what is wrong with out education system? This is basic math. If I'm missing 3 Rebellion characters, but my pool of Rebellion Rare slots is still pretty large, there's still a ton of spam to wade through to unlock the characters. Before I get all those character unlocks, I'll unlock all that new Rebellion Gear they threw into the mix FOR THIS PURPOSE. They want to keep the new characters as the big prize, so they don't drop as often as the other Rare items. Same goes for the Earth items. Even if that's the ONLY DLC I have loaded, I STILL have to deal with the Rare cards for the non-character items. Whether I deal with one DLC at a time or leave them all installed, I STILL HAVE TO WADE THROUGH THE SAME TOTAL NUMBER OF UNWANTED RARE ITEM CARDS. Doing them one at a time doesn't change that, it only changes the ORDER in which I have to deal with them. How does that help me?

Like I said, the main issue is the flood of new Rare Items in the pool, and the drop rate of character cards compared to other Rare items. How many people do you know who have all the Rare characters maxed but DON'T also have the Rare Weapons maxed? Now how many people have lots of maxed Rare weapons but still have locked Rare characters? Looking at YOUR manifest, you have unlocked all the Rare weapons except for the two new ones, the Piranha and the Acolyte. But you've still got 7 locked Rare characters. Now theoretically, if the drop rates weren't weighted to keep the character unlocks low, you would have about the same percentage of locked Rare weapons as you do locked Rare characters. Each non-maxed item presumably should have an equal chance of dropping as a Rare card in a Pack. But they don't. Your own manifest shows this. So, because of the way BioWare does this, by the time you've unlocked your last Rare character, you will probably have gotten most of your Rare Weapons, Weapon Mods, and Gear items to maximum. Even if you delete all but one DLC at a time when you purchase your packs. The idea to delete DLC only works if the desired items are from a single DLC, which is not the case for me.

I feel like no one's really reading what I'm writing.

Maybe some actual numbers would help? Here's the breakdown of my manifest:

Rare Weapons: Vanilla Game
TOTAL NUMBER OF SLOTS                110 (66% Unlocked)
TOTAL NUMBER OF OPEN SLOTS:   36

Rare Characters: Vanilla Game
TOTAL NUMBER OF SLOTS                 30 (63% Unlocked)
TOTAL NUMBER OF OPEN SLOTS:   11

NOTE: These slots can't be taken out of the equation.

——————————————————————————————————
Rare Weapons: RESURGENCE PACK
TOTAL NUMBER OF SLOTS                30 (100% Unlocked)
TOTAL NUMBER OF OPEN SLOTS:   0

Rare Characters: RESURGENCE PACK
TOTAL NUMBER OF SLOTS                 28  (61% Unlocked)
TOTAL NUMBER OF OPEN SLOTS:   11

NOTE: The only open slots are THINGS I WANT

——————————————————————————————————
Rare Weapons: REBELLION PACK
TOTAL NUMBER OF SLOTS                 20 (45% Unlocked)
TOTAL NUMBER OF OPEN SLOTS    11

Rare Characters: REBELLION PACK
TOTAL NUMBER OF SLOTS                 26 (19% Unlocked)
TOTAL NUMBER OF OPEN SLOTS:   21

Rare Gear: REBELLION PACK
TOTAL NUMBER OF SLOTS                 35 (24% Unlocked)
TOTAL NUMBER OF OPEN SLOTS:   26

NOTE: Look at the percentage of unlocks for Weapons and Gear compared to Characters. Notice anything? I have three locked Characters, two locked Gear items, but the Weapons are both unlocked. The category for Characters is the one I want, but I still have to draw cards for Gear and Weapons, as well as the vanilla game Weapons (which is fine, I guess, I do want to level up my Carnifex and a couple others), to have a chance at these character unlocks.

——————————————————————————————————
Rare Weapons: EARTH PACK
TOTAL NUMBER OF SLOTS                 20 (0% Unlocked)
TOTAL NUMBER OF OPEN SLOTS:   20

Rare Characters: EARTH PACK
TOTAL NUMBER OF SLOTS                 24 (4% Unlocked)
TOTAL NUMBER OF OPEN SLOTS:   23

Rare Weapon Mods: EARTH PACK
TOTAL NUMBER OF SLOTS                25 (12% Unlocked)
TOTAL NUMBER OF OPEN SLOTS:   22

Rare Gear: EARTH PACK
TOTAL NUMBER OF SLOTS                 35 (0% Unlocked)
TOTAL NUMBER OF OPEN SLOTS:   35

NOTE: I haven't purchased enough from this pack to have meaningful results, but it's interesting that I already have 12% unlock for Weapon Mods, and only 4% unlock for Characters. These Weapon Mods and Gear are Pure SPAM and were put in the game ONLY to dilute the pool of Rare items, prolonging the process of unlocking characters.

Look at the number of slots for Rare Characters compared to the total pool of Rare items for each DLC and the vanilla game:

Vanilla Game: Total Rare Pool: 140 slots
Vanilla Game: Total Rare Character Pool: 30 slots

Resurgence Pack: Total Rare Pool: 58 slots
Resurgence Pack: Total Rare Character Pool: 28 slots

Rebellion Pack: Total Rare Pool: 81 slots
Rebellion Pack: Total Rare Character Pool: 26 slots

Earth Pack: Total Rare Pool: 104
Earth Pack: Total Rare Character Pool: 24

Does this clarify anything? Even if I'm going for Earth-only items, I still have to wade through 80 cards of things I may or may not want to get the 24 cards I do want.

Sian, it's time to ditch this "casual" limitation you've placed on yourself. It's time to enter the realm of the hardcore gamer. 20-hour straight grinding sessions...at a minimum.  To get what you want in this game, you need to make sacrifices.  Mass Effect 3 should be the #1 priority in your life right now.

...says the guy with all his Rare weapons maxed, all but two Rare Gear unlocked, all but one rare Weapon Mod unlocked, and FOUR locked Rare characters. I bet you use that SMG High Velocity Barrel and SMG Recoil System ALL THE TIME, and are much happier with those than you would be if you had unlocked, say, the N7 Shadow or N7 Slayer. You're a fool for championing a system that's trolled you just as much as everyone else.
