I don't understand. You are a causal player. There is a lot to unlock. This game is not meant for casual players (MP was just kind of a bonus for ME3, people bought it for SP, and ME is not for causal players... it's really long as a series).
It's a gambling system. Except you can play for free, or spend real money. So you either give time or money. I don't understand why having lots of options and items to unlock is a problem.
Rares for me drop in every PSP and anytime new content is added PSP's always drop me the new stuff except UR. I do play it a lot but even a casual player that players 2 matches a week can unlock rares from a Spectre pack through 2 full extraction silvers.
Letting people unlock exactly what they want would have made MP die a month after it came out.

Oh, is it not for casual players? They should say that onscreen somewhere. I wouldn't have wasted my time if I knew that the only way to get ahead of the curve was to dedicate 30+ hours per week to the game. But thanks for the info. Really helps. This game is only for Serious Players. Have fun.

In one hour you can do an average of 3 matches on Gold = buy 2 PSPs+1 Vet pack. By playing 1 hour every day, which is casual you can unlock 14 PSPs per week. Which means 28 rare items or some URs. Sooner or later, you're going to have what you want.

I agree, it's a little frustrating that EVERY new weapon and character is a Rare or Ultra-Rare (except for  a couple of Uncommon Gears).  The number of Rares is getting a little ridiculous.  If they are going to make every new thing a Rare or UR, they should at least change some of the older stuff that are currently Rares to being Uncommons.  There's no reason that characters that have been in the game since release or that weapons like the Disciple, GPR, GPSMG, Falcon, etc. need to still be Rares.  Casual players get shafted because their chances of getting new characters or weapons is low, while the people who play all the time get new stuff maxed within 5 minutes of release because they can't get anything else.

Actually, it's not "sooner or later", I can tell you exactly when it will happen. I have 216 open slots out of a total of 383 Rare slots; if the additional Weapon Mods are added, then I will have 251 out of 418 open Rare slots. To fill them all, as you suggest, I would have to play Gold, and average 20 minutes or less per match, for an hour a day for almost 8 weeks. Or, if the additional Weapon Mods are added to the pool in the meantime, that amount of time goes up to 9 weeks. Well, I can't play every day, so in order to get my quota, I'd have to play for 2 or 3 hours on selected days. And I'm not a Gold expert, so I'll no doubt have to play twice as long, if not more, to earn the same amount of credits. So, now we're up to about 14 hours per week for up to 9 weeks to get all my Rares maxed, and the character unlocks would undoubtedly only start to drop toward the end of that cycle, given the way the Store works, so I'm looking at 126 hours of gameplay to earn 12,424,500 credits, unless my math is off somewhere. And since that credits total only includes PSPs, I'd have to earn additional credits for Veteran Packs to replenish my consumables. And regardless, the actual items I value will be few and far between, representing only 66 of the 251 open Rare slots, or 26% of the total number or Rare items. And if I include the few weapons and other ancillary items I'm interested in, we're up to MAYBE 30% of the total. Sounds like a huge waste of time, to be honest.

The solution appears to be: just start Rocket glitching Platinum.  There's apparently no downside, since it sounds like it's happening in every match.  It's like a looting spree - if you bust out the window of an electronics store and steal a TV, you're going down.  If you and 1000 other people do the same thing, you won't.

Note to BW:  I am not being serious - I've never rocket glitched and I never will.

Technically you are correct, but there are holes in your logic. What about lobby time? What about glitches, disconnects, and incompetent teammates? What about having to buy JEP's to replenish consumables spent on said incompetent teammates?

And last but not least, what about store errors? I know they're not too common, but I just got a GPS 2 last night. Problem is, I already HAD a GPS 2.

Indeed.  Wait, it's because we are casual gamer's.  The system recognises that and only lets the serious 24/7 gamer on the system.  They get priority.  Everyone else, go hang.

We could always do what the supposedly serious pro-gamer's are doing and spending 4 mill creds a night.  Seriously, and they "earn" those legit or buy them no doubt.   And guess what?   They are still getting all the C_R_A_P.  Oh lol the irony of that.

Lmao no one said we don't get the "crap". We just either use it to hold us over in games to get the better weapons or gear or mods, or don't rush to the forums to complain about a system that works fine. How do these people get such good guns? By putting in the time, and by random chance.

Also to the comment about this not being an RPG, it still is by far, an RPG. classes and skill trees? Doesn't sound like any RPG /I/ ever played either!! <_<

RPG games are known for grinding and "no-lifing". I work, maintain a social life, and still play about 2 or 3 hours a day max and don't have maxxed rares. System works fine, put more time into a time-dedicated game, get used to it, or just stop playing. Judging by how some people build their classes and waste missles on an enemy with one bar of armor left, many players need to just stop.

I assume you want a store system where you choose what gun you want, and you buy it, level it up, buy mods for it, etc?
That would butcher most of the gun of the MP, which is to unlock everything. If they did that system, EVERYONE would use the same gun or two, be the same class with the same build.

I don't think you realize just how douchey that came off. We get it, you're a MUCH better player than the rest of us. You've put in the time, you have the bragging rights, and you don't want any changes to cheapen what you've worked so hard to earn. It always comes back to epeen around here.

Just stop playing, if you have this much of a problem with it.
There are numerous other games with a progression system favoring players such as yourself.

I bet you use that SMG High Velocity Barrel and SMG Recoil System ALL THE TIME, and are much happier with those than you would be if you had unlocked, say, the N7 Shadow or N7 Slayer. You're a fool for championing a system that's trolled you just as much as everyone else.

Ha, what? I play, at most, a couple hours a night and I'm thoroughly enjoying the game months after its release. I guess you're not. I also unlocked the Slayer tonight. The only person getting trolled is you because you're not willing to work for something. But hey, you could always spend cash and pay2win.

People keep bumping my thread with their snark and epeen, what's a girl to do? It would be rude to not smack them upside the head with their own lack of comprehension of the issue at hand.

And for everyone who is happy with the reward system as it is, more power to you. Run along now, go play Platinum and post screen caps of your solo times. We will all express our awe appropriately.

I keep saying this.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a traditional store system.

Each item and item upgrade has a fixed invidual price tag.
You know what. That system works. It's a great system. It rewards us by allowing us to choose what we want.

Do people really have a problem with this?

All I want is a Harrier and/or Typhoon. They're the only guns I don't have. I'll be surprised if I even get an ultra rare from 1 out of every 20 PSP.

I'm fine with the store as is. And I typically play silver.

I completely understand the frustration of wanting X but constantly getting Y or Z, especially since they add even more Y to the mix, "diluting" your chances to get X. But everyone who has gotten their rares maxed had to deal with the whole "oh man another _____? ugh..." The plus side is that it won't last forever. Just keep saving up for PSPs and knock them out one by one. Since it's random, you never know, you could beat the odds and what you want.

But you're not looking for any advice or a solution, especially since the answer you want does not exist, you just want validation. You're right, it's harder to get the rares you want when more are added, especially when you want some from each DLC, but it's a minority in each pack. But that's the way it is, try new things and play with friends, the grind won't be so bad and when you do get that character, it'll be so rewarding.

I get what you're saying and you're right. But the answer/solution you appear to want does not exist. And while so many people have been very harsh/rude to you, I feel you've done it all right back, even at those with best intentions. I understand the frustration, and i'm sure I'd feel the same way you do, but your responses and reactions are cold and immature. You should let this thread die. 90% of the postings are not what you were looking for, nor helpful to the community; it's just a bunch of flaming and personal aggression.

tl;dr?
Your frustations are valid. It's unfortunate that all the other rares are hindering your desire to obtain the characters you want, but the solution you want does not exist. And for those people who offer the closest solution that does exist, you respond with hostility. The same "worthless answers" will cause frustration, because it's like being told the same thing a million times, but not everyone reads 10+ pages, just the OP. You need to give up and let go of this thread. The behavior of some in this thread is absurd, and I'm surprised it's not locked yet.

I get it. You're the Bigger Person™ here. Okay, good for you. I do find it odd that you bumped my thread to tell me not to bump my thread. I honestly think your post is more about you than it is about me. Usually in posts like these it's clear that the person simply wants to make himself or herself appear superior to all parties, by playing the Voice of Reason who is above it all. And you say I'm looking for validation?

Everyone's advice, yours included amounts to "deal with it", and frankly that's just not good enough for me. If I continue to accept the system and play the game, I'm telling BioWare that there is nothing wrong with the way they've structured the game. If I and other frustrated players simply stop playing the game, we achieve the dual result of alleviating the dissatisfaction with the game AND communicating our attitude toward the system to BioWare in the only way that they understand: numbers. If people stop playing, BioWare might—might—realize that they need to change the way they do things. But they probably won't, these are the people who think Synthesis is the "good" ending in the SP game. And even if BioWare does nothing, frustrated players who abandon the game are no longer frustrated by the game's absurd reward system. It's not like ME3 MP is the only fun thing a person could do.

And before you chide me again for my "hostility"—what did you expect? This community is not a cooperative community, any more than MP is a cooperative game. "Not helpful to the community". Please. If you're going to condescendingly scold me for being unpleasant, you're not going to get chastened contrition. I hope that's not what you were expecting. That's just never going to happen.
