Some people do spend REAL MONEY on this crap. Honestly, not everyone wants to spend 40 hours a week playing this damn game. Maybe I do need to quit playing, because a lot of you sound like complete tools, and I certainly hope I never run across you in a public lobby. I'm sure you're all about topping the leaderboard and pwning the noobs as well as maxing all your Ultra-Rares. I just like to play for a few hours every few days. I actually try to do teamwork, and use characters that play to the strengths of the other characters in the lobby. Freakish behavior, I know, but deal with it. So because I don't have the level of commitment of the hardcore "leet" types, I still don't have all my Resurgence characters and items maxed. Nor do I have all of the Rebellion characters and weapons unlocked. And now there's this whole crop of OTHER new characters and weapons, which are fine, but then there's the Gear, and the new Weapon Mods, and at this rate I'll never catch up. I'll max out useless garbage weapons like the absurd Kishok, while my oft-used weapons and characters remain at low levels. If you lot like the store the way it is, more power to you. Go play in traffic.

Some people spend real money on it, thats their choice.

Some people don't want to spend 40 hours a week playing. Thats their choice.

If you don't want to play a lot OR spend lots of real money, thats fine, but you will not have all of the new equipment.

That you are so angry about this, and are now taking it out on "us" is unwarranted. So perhaps you should stop playing.

Read the previous page, and the flippant crap I got for expressing my displeasure with the store system. Yeah, I'm "taking it out on you". If you kids can't take it, don't dish it out.

why don't you do what  darkpassenger2342 is suggesting. you haven't responded to him at all

I shouldn't have to go through so much rigamarole to tweak the variables of the store drop system. if people are satisfied with the current system, great, terrific, wonderful. I guess they're making this game for the "no life" types, not relatively casual players who think it might be fun to play a certain character, but don't want to invest hundreds of hours of gameplay for the chance to START playing it.

I agree with the OP, the store system's complete randomness is one of the major reasons I quit playing ME3's multiplayer all together (the other reason it being boring). To me this system just comes across as half assed, like bioware could've made the system where we could purchase whatever the heck we wanted but chose not to because SOMEONE thought they could make some money off people willing to actually spend real money in the form of points. I honestly see no good reason anyone should have to play this game hour upon hour just to get enough credits to get weapons and mods they don't use, or crap they've maxed out months ago all in vain attempts to get that one weapon or character they've been wanting for weeks.

Ok, here's how I look at it. I play the game to have fun. Sure, unlocking stuff is part of the fun, but it shouldn't be the main reason I'm playing. If you cannot enjoy the game with the characters/weapons/gear that you currently have (at any given moment), why would you continue to play it?

Thanks. Finally somebody gets it. Early on I was having good luck with the Store. When Resurgence came out, I got the Justicar the first day, and that was the only character I really wanted. When Rebellion came out, I got the Quarian Male Engineer right away, and that was the only one I really wanted. But today I unlocked the frickin N7 Destroyer, when all I want is the Demolisher or the Adept—the Fury or whatever. But I'm not going to game 14 hours a day for the next 6 weeks on the off chance that the store will give me one of those characters. The math is not on my side at this point, because I haven't been grinding the damn game since launch. I only play Adepts and Engineers. I don't give two sh¡ts about the other classes. Soldiers? No. Vanguards? No. Sentinels? No. Infiltrators? No. But I've got just as much chance of unlocking all those characters and even more of unlocking the absurdly specific Gear and Weapon Mod stuff. So unless you're glued to your console (sorry, I have a full-time job) you get no love from the Store.

But hey, if people like it the way it is, more power to you.

You're right. Some of those new characters looked like they might be fun, but the investment in time to unlock them is so prohibitive, I might as well not bother. Maybe I am done with multiplayer. Have fun storming the castle...

It's for the best really, once I called it quits with this game I went back to things like Halo Reach and Gears of War 3. I won't lie and say they're materpieces, but both those games easily out do this poor attempt at a fun multiplayer experience. Image IPB

OP, save up your credits then delete the dlcs with the stuff you dont want.....
spend your money and download them again....
then you do not have this problem, and everyone is happy, hooray.

But wouldn't deleting DLC mean deleting stuff that you unlocked with that DLC? So I should just delete my Harrier for new gear mods?

Harrier was in the dlc before this one.

Anyway I don't know if that would even work.

I can confirm that this method works, on PC at least.

Edit: Oh, and you wont lose any characters, weapons etc, that you've unlocked already.

I find it hard to be sympathetic.

They are releasing DLC with stuff that you actually want.  You can't argue that it's 'stuff that should have existed in the first place' because really we are are seeing bizarre race/class combinations and all sorts of weapons that were never in the single player game.

You get some things you want, you get some things you don't want.   IMHO it all balances out.   If you don't like the variety, then don't install new DLC.    You can't have your cake and eat it too.  Especially when it's free.

+1 to OP

A lot of it feels like Chaff to encourage people to keep playing. I maxed out the Acolyte and got the Pirahna to level VIII - I tried using the Piranha, but it feels like garbage. Tried using the Acolyte, and it's charge-only. Not very conventional. I don't think I'll ever use it, and I got it ten times today.

Of the twenty or so PSPs I got today, the only new character I got was the Slayer. It's decent, but I was really looking forward to trying out the new classes, not filling out my manifest with stuff I'll never use.

In your opinion, it balances out. Well, I guess you play a lot more than I do, or like playing a wider variety of characters and equipment than I do. Personally, I wish the Store would allow you to upgrade or unlock something by sacrificing something else. I would be on board with that. I'd trade in that dumb Kishock to unlock a new character at level I, especially if it meant that I would still never have to see Kishock cards again. But, you know, the Store is perfect as it is, what do I know. I'm obviously not the target audience for this product.

Evidently, the point people have missed is randomization being a hindrance to those of us either not obsessed with multiplayer, unwilling to spend copious amounts of actual dollars or simply a victim of lady luck's time of the month. For instance, I do not play MP frequently but enough time has been put into it; say a few weeks worth. I have only now unlocked the Black Widow, albeit at a measly level one. Better yet, I just finished a Platinum run today and what did I unlock? Garbage.

That is needlessly frustrating, especially as we know the only reason it is implemented is to garner money from people.

This, like many video games, rewards you for the time you put in. Many video games cannot provide completion, or even remotely approach completion, if you do not put significant amounts of time into them. This game requires significant amounts of time. Why should you get the items I spent time to unlock if you aren't willing to put the time into it?

Other games offer a binary set of requirements you must achieve to garner your reward. For instance, Call of Duty utilizes a level system, thus I know that once I reach thirty seven, I will unlock gun x. My goal is now set and I am assured my time investment will be worthwhile. Randomization offers no guarantee, hence the numerous complaints toward this system. I could spend the remainder of this month playing eight hours a day and still have not leveled my Widow or unlocked all the new N7 classes.

A game should reward players for their investment, not force them into a game of slots. This system makes it exceptionally difficult for newer players to jump into the game because their assortment of goods is lackluster in comparison to those with luck in their favor.

Podboq wrote...

Unlocking things is a big part of the game for me, and a lot of other people I'm sure. Making it linear, ie letting you choose would just make the system incredibly stale and boring imo.

I do think an ultra rare pack would be a good idea though.
maybe 500000 or 1000000 for a guaranteed UR (among some other random stuff).
I dunno about the price but it would need to be a lot. And of course it would have to still be a random UR.

EDIT
typos

I disagree, and point to Halo and Call of Duty as evidence to the contrary. Both games have a following BioWare could only dream of in regards to multiplayer and neither employs a randomization system. Players are assured of their goal's success provided they are willing to invest the time to reach the necessary level. Your suggest does have merit though. If there were some manner, even expensive, to unlock something with a guarantee. It would be an improvement. Of course, the actual reason the present system was chosen is to invoke money from people.

How about I just stop playing? I'm sure a lot of other people will do that. What's one fewer player? Or a hundred? Or a thousand?

Yeah. So when the player base dwindles, and it's no longer feasible for BioWare to put in the resources to develop new crap for the Store to troll you with, and you've maxed everything, and your N7 rating is in the seven digits, and there's no new challenge for you to make the game fun, I hope there's something new to take it's place. Actually, scratch that, I hope there's NOT. You people deserve what you get for championing this absurd reward system.
