Thanks. Finally somebody gets it. Early on I was having good luck with the Store. When Resurgence came out, I got the Justicar the first day, and that was the only character I really wanted. When Rebellion came out, I got the Quarian Male Engineer right away, and that was the only one I really wanted. But today I unlocked the frickin N7 Destroyer, when all I want is the Demolisher or the Adept—the Fury or whatever. But I'm not going to game 14 hours a day for the next 6 weeks on the off chance that the store will give me one of those characters. The math is not on my side at this point, because I haven't been grinding the damn game since launch. I only play Adepts and Engineers. I don't give two sh¡ts about the other classes. Soldiers? No. Vanguards? No. Sentinels? No. Infiltrators? No. But I've got just as much chance of unlocking all those characters and even more of unlocking the absurdly specific Gear and Weapon Mod stuff. So unless you're glued to your console (sorry, I have a full-time job) you get no love from the Store.

But hey, if people like it the way it is, more power to you.

I find it hard to be sympathetic.

They are releasing DLC with stuff that you actually want.  You can't argue that it's 'stuff that should have existed in the first place' because really we are are seeing bizarre race/class combinations and all sorts of weapons that were never in the single player game.

You get some things you want, you get some things you don't want.   IMHO it all balances out.   If you don't like the variety, then don't install new DLC.    You can't have your cake and eat it too.  Especially when it's free.

In your opinion, it balances out. Well, I guess you play a lot more than I do, or like playing a wider variety of characters and equipment than I do. Personally, I wish the Store would allow you to upgrade or unlock something by sacrificing something else. I would be on board with that. I'd trade in that dumb Kishock to unlock a new character at level I, especially if it meant that I would still never have to see Kishock cards again. But, you know, the Store is perfect as it is, what do I know. I'm obviously not the target audience for this product.

Just by looking at your multiplayer manifest I can tell you play more than I do.

You should probably put away all these, 'I have a life and a job and am a casual player and you guys don't' insinuations.   I can tell you that I don't have an Justicar, or a Quarian Engineer, or a Destroyer, and whatever else you might have been fortunate enough to get from these free DLC packs.   I'm probably  more of a casual player than you are.  I can tell you yes, I have a full time job.   I'm fine with this.  So yeah, your second guess is right.  I enjoy playing a wide variety of characters.

There's nothing stopping you from playing your favorite characters over and over.   But if you want one of the new variants, because suddenly it seems shinier, then you might have to endure some of the stuff you don't want.  Sorry but you just can't get 'only the best of the new free stuff'.  It would be nice if we could, but that's just not how it works, and it's certainly not something that I think we can really lambast Bioware for considering it's free, optional DLC.

How about I just stop playing? I'm sure a lot of other people will do that. What's one fewer player? Or a hundred? Or a thousand?

Yeah. So when the player base dwindles, and it's no longer feasible for BioWare to put in the resources to develop new crap for the Store to troll you with, and you've maxed everything, and your N7 rating is in the seven digits, and there's no new challenge for you to make the game fun, I hope there's something new to take it's place. Actually, scratch that, I hope there's NOT. You people deserve what you get for championing this absurd reward system.

I fail to see the reason for so much hostility, letting anonymous types from the internet get to you does not help your case, honestly i've never seen you so angry

I just find perplexing that people are championing the Store system. I guess they're masochists or something. Whatever. I never dreamed that people would rally to the defense of Bioware, much less the STORE, the way they have. I'm over it. If people enjoy banging their heads against the wall, that's fine, but I'm not going to.

you had a problem, a solution was offered, a rather good one that contains basically no compromise, you would get exactly what you want.

OP wants the new characters without the new gear getting in the way of it. The solution suggested prohibits OP from obtaining the new characters, so it isn't much of a solution.

i find it perplexing that you keep avoiding the information presented to you and whining about us loving this store...
we told you how to fix your problem.
that doesnt mean we love the store either.

Yeah, new stuff, but still not characters and still LOTS of chaff.

Did you pay attention to my iteration of the problem and how the solution actually doesn't solve it before jumping up and down for attention?

Hello, my name is Tats and I'm from the other side of the world hence our time zones will differ with reference to days and time. I'll keep this brief and short.

I understand where you come from. I too hold a normal day job and would very much like to unlock stuff but many days like you I don't have the time to game. At most I play one game per night, that is about 30 minutes tops?
For example this week, last Monday I did a wedding shoot till 12am after office hours. Tuesday last night same shoot till 11pm. Coming Saturday whole day will be the ceremony shoot itself and dinner.
What I am trying to say is that, things eventually will arrive.

Most games now is basically "You get what you put in", basically how much time, effort, even real money invested is proportionate to what you will get out plus minus random factor.

Look at my manifest. It isn't stellar but decent, for the minimum amount of effort put into it.
http://social.biowar...y=galaxy_at_war

TLDR: If the game is going to feel like work, perhaps it is better to ease up on the gas pedal a little, or if the grind is just too much, better to let it go (e.g. Diablo 3. This game's grind is way overboard so i stopped)

The store's broken. Your alternative didn't solve the problem proposed by OP. Sounds like you're a bit mad, especially considering that this was the bit you added on after in your edit:

try not to let any tears get on your controllers.

Yeah, well done. I'm wounded.
I understand you're upset that you think you had a clever idea and it's not being recognized, but you don't seem to acknowledge that it isn't actually a solution. If you could specifically uninstall everything 'except' for the characters, you'd have a case, but as it is you're not really being helpful. You're coming across as really bitter. :\\

Anyway, I had fun unlocking the Piranha VIII and the Acolyte X tonight. Never going to use them, but they look nice in my manifest.

Edit: Fixed tag

So yay, now there are more Rare items in the Store to dilute the pool and make it even harder to get the items we actually DO want. More Gear items. Booyah. More Weapon Mods. Woohoo. I was so pleased to get that new SMG mod, it's going to really transform my gameplay. That's so much better than finishing leveling up my handy-dandy humble Carnifex.

Not.

I can't imagine what a new player must think when they look at the bewildering array of crap they have to level up in order to level up the things they actually USE. I get that they're trying to get obsessive compulsive people to spend cash money to collect their bits and bobs, but it sucks for the rest of us who aren't completionists who just want to have a good weapon, or frickin' Pattern options for our go-to characters. :pinched:

You people need to get off of your high horses. Earth dlc is great but it has come with a signicant drawback. More sh*t we don't need. Do you really want that omni melee bayonet over the Shadow, or The Fury, or a host of other things that are infinitely better? It IS free content yes. But when you spend more time trying to figure out how to best farm and swindle your way to getting what you want, there's a problem.

Here's a cool story. I sacrificed to the rng gods for 2 1/2 months to finally unlock the Black Widow. Most people would be happy, I was less than indifferent because I had moved on to bigger and better things. Due to getting a bunch of sh*t I didn't need or want. I had become so used to not getting what I wanted that I no longer cared about the game in the traditional sense. I became FarmerJohn. Glacier is my name.

Bioware you want to stop the farming? Release packs that don't spit in your customer's faces.

Hell, we just lost someone today who got fed up with your store. Your store is universally hated. I don't even think YOU like it, Bioware. At least the gamer part of you doesn't. If it even exists.

Your store system is the reason people go out of their way to die on wave 10 because they're managing their time so strictly so that they might have a better shot at finally getting that Harrier, or that Widow, or that Paladin.

It's the reason you've had problems with credit glitchers and missle glitchers amongst other "cheaters". If your store was just a LITTLE more lenient perhaps you wouldn't have SO many people scratching and clawing to take advantage of it. But that's just speculation.

I will find another way.

You can choose free DLC or no junk in the store.

If you dont get fed up with crappy drop rates in the store you wont shell out cash for more boxes
If you dont spend money in microtransactions at the store, the DLCs cannot be free.

Money from store pays for dlc!

Some of the new gear packs are pretty frustrating as it dilutes your chances to get the good stuff. Guerrilla gear ; x% dmg to snipers and SMGs... who on earth would use that gear?

What's especially hilarious is the absurd names they're coming up with for all the filler. "Pistol Cranial Trauma System"? "Martial Biotic Amp"? "Combatives Upgrade"? They're not even trying to conceal the fact that it's useless stuff to string you along and keep you coming back to the store to unlock the new characters and weapons. Like those super-specific new items really make any difference in game play.

Oh look, people being unnecessairly rude to a person who has a complaint about the game. How shocking.

Anyways, yes it is frustrating to have mods drop instead of new weapons and characters. Especially in PSPs. You just have to shrug it off and try again.

Free?

You have to earn credits in the game to buy the packs to unlock the items. Or pony up cash money. It's NOT free.

Wait, so playing a game and unlocking stuff is bad?
I better go tell that to Bioware, Blizzard, Infinity War, Treyarc, Arenanet, Zombie, Valve, etc etc

OP, quit ****ing and gtfo. No one likes your kind around here.

Lower weight pistols? Ah yah baby >:D
Omni blade for my AR? Kickass!

Oh look, darkpassenger can't make his own reply but he's fine with 1-upping the first person to join in who also has a problem with OP. :\\

Look, the new mods and weapons aren't interesting. People want to play the new character classes. It's not hard to understand. I don't need to deal more damage on headshots because I spam powers. I don't need lower weight on Pistols because the Carnifex already gives me a 200% recharge speed, and nobody uses melee over extended barrel or shredder anyway unless you're a Krogan. :\\

Is it so hard to understand that the gear you're unlocking is only useful if you already have the character that it works well with? The gear should be unlocked separately, not part of the same card pool. Simple concept.
