Welcome to video games? Buying a new suit of armor in an old school RPG cost money. Money you grinded for by killing enemies in random battles. If the developers somehow released a free equipment pack that granted you new equipment to buy, its still free. The earning of money is playing the game.

If you are bored playing the game for equipment, then stop playing. That is the ultimate goal of this MP; to collect all the stuff. Even with the random system, its still all a matter of investment. All Rares will eventually be unlocked, and after that, you have about a 1  in 10 UR unlock chance. Its random, but its fairly consistant over large samples. Your "purchase" of these items is made with in game money that you get by playing the game. If you consider that not free, then I think you have just fooled yourself into thinking video games are work.

Lol at the children. OP is right. You unlock things based on luck and only luck. can'tt ell you how many times I get character training for hcaracter I have maxed out. lame.

With the exception of common human cards, this is no longer happening.

Some people do spend REAL MONEY on this crap. Honestly, not everyone wants to spend 40 hours a week playing this damn game. Maybe I do need to quit playing, because a lot of you sound like complete tools, and I certainly hope I never run across you in a public lobby. I'm sure you're all about topping the leaderboard and pwning the noobs as well as maxing all your Ultra-Rares. I just like to play for a few hours every few days. I actually try to do teamwork, and use characters that play to the strengths of the other characters in the lobby. Freakish behavior, I know, but deal with it. So because I don't have the level of commitment of the hardcore "leet" types, I still don't have all my Resurgence characters and items maxed. Nor do I have all of the Rebellion characters and weapons unlocked. And now there's this whole crop of OTHER new characters and weapons, which are fine, but then there's the Gear, and the new Weapon Mods, and at this rate I'll never catch up. I'll max out useless garbage weapons like the absurd Kishok, while my oft-used weapons and characters remain at low levels. If you lot like the store the way it is, more power to you. Go play in traffic.

Thaaank you, all the BioHusks around here does make it seem like the place is filled with tools, but I assure you some of us aren't clinically insane - some of us.

First World Problems: A Story By OP

Yeah, the store system is completely random.
Yeah, there's much better alternatives people have come up with, in other threads.
Deal with it or don't.

Or post a new thread that's essentially entitled ****ing, and then get offended when people call you out on it, responding to them with such classics as "kids these days" and calling them "complete tools" and telling them to "go play in traffic". After all, this is a game catering to the demographic of us "no life types", even though the only person here spouting myspace level "maybe I'm done with multiplayer" and "how about I just stop playing?" drama is yourself.

Protip: Newsflash, sweetheart. This is the real world and the only two things that make it go round are blood and money. BioWare is a business, and ultimately their interest, like any business, is making money. The math will never, ever be in your favor, not with BioWare, not with anything or anyone.

Edited for a spelling mistake.

I liked bob 1.5 better.

And thanks for the condescending economics lesson. I Did Not Know That™. And you're right, complaining about a BioWare product is a waste of time. They would never change something in the game just because fans complain.

Better to simply become a fan of something else, I say, especially since the standard bearers for BioWare's absurd practice are people like you who WEREN'T attacked in the OP or anywhere else, but feel the need to chime in with their company-line BS anyway. Have fun with your ever-dwindling pool of players. May all your Ultra-Rares be Eagle upgrades and may all your Medi-Gels and Ops Survival Packs glitch and be wasted.

So yay, now there are more Rare items in the Store to dilute the pool and make it even harder to get the items we actually DO want.

"I want" =/= "We want"

I think the new mods are quite interesting. The Omniblade for AR makes my krogans able to be effective at range, and the Cranial SMG mod makes SMG's actually worth something against armored units. Also the Pistol ULM is nice if you want to use anyhting but the Carfinex (god phorbid).

...says the person who has maxed all his Rare Weapons, unlocked most Ultra-Rares, and unlocked all but one character. Of course you're jazzed about those new Gear and Weapon Mod items. You have everything else already. I'd probably be excited about them too if I had everything else already. Well, the Pistol ULM, maybe.

I commend your dedication to this game, but I don't share your appreciation for these very situational items because I don't play a variety of characters and would probably never equip something like a Cranial SMG mod even if I had it at level V. But whatever, clearly I'm Wrong™, as everyone of the Platinum Elite has already made sure to reiterate in this thread.

Getting level 3 consumables instead of weapon mods in your silver cards can be ¡%$#&ing. I want two more shotgun shredder mods goddamit.

Also, I bet I'm going to get a destroyer and a demolisher (James Vega's cousins) before my asari justicar ç__ç

But it's all free so no big deal.

I just want to mention, your old school RPG analogy doesn't work. At least not in my opinion. The store system on ME3 is intentionally frustrating. The Ultra Rare drop rates are low on purpose and the repeat cards are there on purpose. It's meant so that it takes you a long time to unlock the things you want. Not because that's the goal (if that was the goal of the MP, once somebody unlocks everything they should just quit..right?) but because they want people to get so frustrated about grinding for credits that shell out and buy them with real money, only to not unlock the thing they want in the first pack so they buy another...and another...and another. Even if only a few out of every 100 players buys packs with real money, that's a lot of money for EA. That's the reason for the store system being the way it is. Not to mention in an old school RPG, you're grinding for money you plan to spend on something tangible. Something you know you'll be getting. Buying packs in ME3 is a complete unknown. You could get a gun you hate and useless equipment you don't use in 5 packs in a row. Waste all of your credits. It happens. Not a big incentive to actually spend real money.

I'm a big fan of Siansonea's snarkiness. Nice thread. And yeah, it is disappointing that these new mods are such were made rare items. It's exactly what you said - to dilute the pool. To reduce the chances of people getting the stuff they actually want.

Bob 1.5? Cute.

Completely skip over the part where I called you out both your childish, entitled whining and on your mature responses such as "go play in traffic" and the most recent, "now go die". The moderators may have a problem with that.

And yes, I did chime in. The opening post was fine, nothing wrong with it. Some people disagreed. But then you posted this (I'll bold the parts I thought were funny):

Some people do spend REAL MONEY on this crap. Honestly, not everyone
wants to spend 40 hours a week playing this damn game. Maybe I do need

And this:

I shouldn't have to go through so much rigamarole to tweak the variables
of the store drop system. if people are satisfied with the current
system, great, terrific, wonderful. I guess they're making this game for
the "no life" types,
not relatively casual players who think it might
be fun to play a certain character, but don't want to invest hundreds of
hours of gameplay for the chance to START playing it.

And this:

How about I just stop playing? I'm sure a lot of other people will do
that. What's one fewer player? Or a hundred? Or a thousand?
Yeah.
So when the player base dwindles, and it's no longer feasible for
BioWare to put in the resources to develop new crap for the Store to
troll you with, and you've maxed everything, and your N7 rating is in
the seven digits, and there's no new challenge for you to make the game
fun, I hope there's something new to take it's place. Actually, scratch
that, I hope there's NOT. You people deserve what you get for
championing this absurd reward system.

The only thing people here like about the store system is that because it's a microtransaction setup, it keeps the DLC free for everyone because a small percentage of the playing population is willing to spend actual money on it. Nobody likes getting trolled by the store. But what would you propose? DLC costing 5 bucks a piece, and for what? Virtual items for your virtual character for a game you won't be playing in a year? The appeal of the DLC for this game is that it's free. The fact is, the store system was one of many methods BW had to choose from to keep people playing, but it's the one they chose. And to change it now would undermine themselves and be unfair to the people who actually spent money on the random packs.

But overall, outstanding.
Now go be a fan of something else.

I would never be foolish enough to spend actual dollars and cents on this sort of thing. I earn credits in the game and spend them in the store. And I get lots and lots and LOTS of items I will NEVER use. But hey, it's free! And I'm free to say "never mind, I'll do something else now."

Eventually, only the Super Duper Platinum Noob Pwners Club will be playing this game and grinding like mad for credits to buy those situational items that they'll use a couple of times in most cases. I actually sort of liked multiplayer for a while, but whatever. Clearly I am not the target customer, it's fine.

OP, I feel your pain. That's exactly how I feel everytime they announce a new DLC and the store system remains the same.

Everytime it gets harder to get  something you want and it seems it's designed that way. The crappy system gets worsened.
No need for it. They could easily put the new stuff on separate packs, so they wouldn't screw the odds for those who hasn't maxed out the "old" equipment yet. And at this rate, I know I will never do unless I'm willing to pay a f***load of real money. Yay

I suppose the thing to do to get rid of stuff temporarily is to play, get credits, and then uninstall the proper DLCs before buying packs. You will still get level 4 consumables, but it would reduce the range of possibilities.

That's been suggested, but it seems like a lot of trouble, and it won't tweak the math significantly enough to really make a difference. I'm going to get too many consumables I don't want and not unlock the things I do want (which actually span all the DLC offerings). Lots of people who play regularly haven't unlocked all the original Rare characters. How sad is it that people still don't have the Asari Adept? The game has been out since March. I shouldn't have to spend 40 hours a week just to keep up.

I wish there were more packs that would allow players to have a greater chance of getting the content they want within reason. I don't think an ultra-rare pack is necessary, but I certainly couldn't complain if one was implemented. I do, however, support the idea of Vanilla, Resurgence, Rebellion, and Earth-based reinforcement packs that focus on rare weapons and equipment from their respective categories.

As for you, Waffle Cat, you're not exactly making the world a better place yourself, so shut your yap.

Q-Q harder, if you dont get the toys you dont want go buy some ponies, this system has been in the game for several months now and now you decided after a million topics about this issue : Hey lets cry about the DLC items being in the packs and all the other stuff too, Since I dont get the stuff I want!

PS:
Go watch more shows for little girls while you should be working to get your money instead of getting money from the goverment because the obsession is too high.

( yes it is already so far that people stay home for it : an interview with radio 1 and proof delivered by the government showed grown up men stay home instead of working because of an obsession with ponies).
