We investigated all the reports sent to ME3MPCheaters@BioWare.com
and today we banned an additional 1359 players from Mass Effect 3
Multiplayer. We do not condone exploitation in any way and we will
continue to take decisive action against those that violate our
policies.

If you have been banned and think an error has been made please contact ME3AccountAdmin@BioWare.comand your case will be reviewed.

There is always a reason. They don't ban people without any proof, but they will not present to you any either.

If they can't provide proof, then there is no proof.  I was also banned for no reason.  I emailed the address provided, and I have received no reply to date.  My previous emails have been ignored or answered the same way as others have mentioned, "your account has been banned, but we can't tell you why."  That is unacceptable.

I'm in the same boat with the OP it would seem. I want to know the full charges. What did I exploit? This is more like updates gone wrong or abuse of admin power.

Same problem. Yesterday I downloaded "Earth" add-on, and as fast as i finished instalation, i couldn't play at multi mode. So I checked my email, and I've saw the same mail as you have, telling me that my account has been banned. Before I downloaded add-on everything was ok

There's the email guys. Like the 2nd poster said, you can always contact the this way.
There are probably other ways to contact them as well, but forums are probably going to be MUCH slower.

That is unacceptable, Ernest, I did not exploit multiplayer, therefore I should be unbanned.

Please advise,

Hello,

I have taken a look into your account and can confirm that you have been banned for exploiting multiplayer. Due to how our investigation process is handled, however, I cannot disclose any details. We take cheating very seriously and we have decided that this ban will be permanent.

Ernest Tse

Exploit multiplayer is lame, they really should state the exact reason.
Not knowing the line between exploiting and legit gaming makes rebuying the game pointless.

They should at least tell the people which exploit the ban was for. I was on the anti-cheat team for a major counterstrike source community and we would always tell them which hack or exploit like server crashing they were being banned for. We did not give them the proof we had though...usually in demo form or from the server logs. They don't need to see the proof, but they deserved to know specifically which TOS violation they were being banned for.

"You were hacking" is not enough. We would be like "You were caught on demo using an aimbot. We reviewed this demo and and it was obvious you were hacking since your screen was shaking all over and you were upside down and spinning."

I'd feel a little bit better if I was at least being treated as well as a common criminal, instead of a terrorist.

It's quite worrying if legit players get banned and no reason is given.

And that's one of the reasons why community driven dedicated servers > retarded console p2p.

Guys - if that vanguard bug rears its head, and you decide to stay in the game, opposed to exiting multiplayer, and rejoining - does that constitute exploit?

I havent been banned, but I did stay in the game, after the vanguard charge bug reared its head, because I was still able to lend a hand.
(Litterally I was the lone survivor - because the npc's couldnt kill me)

Granted- that sounds a little bit like exploitation - but it wasnt like I intentionally caused the Bug to occur, I just wanted to complete the match as fast as possible, so me and my team could do another game.

Am I in danger?

The mods have disclosed that they can easily tell when someone accidentally gets VG bugged and when someone purposefully puts themselves in that state, which I believe entails exploiting terrain clipping.  If you accidentally bug yourself, you are more than welcome to remain in the game to ensure you recieve your exp/credits (whether or not you can tolerate the seizure-inducing spasms your character makes until the game naturally concludes... that's another story).

Here is a fantastic thread that helps to answer what actions are bannable and which are acceptable.  If you want to clean it up some, here is the same thread after filtering mod posts.  Just scroll through Abram's posts and read the quote/response. This one isn't bad either.

As to the issue of not disclosing the offense, I believe (if I remember correctly) that the mods have said that they withhold this information in an attempt to curb the use of exploits.  Along the lines of, "If we don't tell you what exploit you performed, you can't share the exploit with others." This makes sense in the notification email that they send out stating when someone's account is banned, but if someone emails in to appeal the decision, I don't see why they can't tel you if they have determined that you allegedly performed the exploit deliberately.  By withholding the reason for the ban, they would be showing doubt of your guilt which means the appeal process should not yet be final.   /shrug

I don't necessarily agree with their non-disclosure policy, but it's there.
My sympathies to anyone who may have been wrongfully banned.  Here's hoping any and all accused players out there successfully get their accounts unbanned.
Cheers.

Whose to  say they're "legit players". You don't take Bioware's word for it that their exploits were rightfully handed out but you'll take the word of a stranger who claims "I'm a legit player why was I banned."

EDIT:

I've also ran into two games where a player hacked the game or something. Unlimited ammo, or rather ammo kept receting from it's normal amount to 19, no recharge on powers, and what seemed like a hell of a ton of health. Pity, I thought this stopped in beta. Kind of sucks where the only ones playing platinum at the moment are the ones who can't play the game.

At least in the United States there is a presumption of innocence. In other countries (like France) you are presumed guilty. I prefer the presumption of innocence and as such prefer to take forum members at their word unless given strong evidence to the contrary.

Because EA/BW refuses to give any proof or even indicate which rule was violated, all one is left with is an ambiguous "you violated the TOS/Rules". Thanks. Apparently EA/BW can get away with this but it makes me very wary of ever buying any more products from them.

Thats all well and good, but that is a community. I'm also a CSS admin for a large UK group and do the same as you.

The difference is however, that this is BioWare (the devs). Valve do not tell people exactly why they are VAC banned.
