In Mass Effect 1, Let's say I lock in Ashley but then save Kaidan on Virmire. Will Liara be switched to LI after that?

Isn't it too late to pick Liara romance after Virmire? There's possibly only one major mission remaining and I don't think that's enough. And Liara romance ends permanently if one picks Ash when the "catfight" occurs.

I haven't gotten that far.
I just finished Noveria (have Feros left) and both Liara and Ash are at their Lock-in conversations (Ash asks if you want her baggage and all and Liara confesses an attraction to you). I was sitting her wondering if I were to lock in Ashley and then she died on Virmire, if the romance would then lock into Liara because Ash had died. I think I remember that happening on my first playthrough and I'd like to do the same thing but I don't remember what I did to cause it. I also didn't get the catfight scene on my first playthough. I'm certain of that.

If you lock in with Ash and Virmire her, you'll lose both of them.

Maybe its not too late then but the cat fight scene wont always trigger, it doesnt always for me, I dont know why.

Hmmmmm....In my first playthrough, I did Liara's mission last and...Maybe I locked in Ashley and then locked in Liara resulting in the catfight supposed to happen afer Virmire, but, because Ash died there, it locked in Liara?

After 3 main missions (getting liara, Fero, Noveria Virmire) you'll get the catfight, so i'd suggest do virmire until last so you can get ashley then virmire her

Yeah, I think (in my first playthough) I locked in both Liara and Ashley inbetween the Digsite and Virmire. So, The catfight would have to be held off till after Virmire. Except, by that point, Ashley was no long alive and Liara was still locked in.

Uhm.... I clearly meant as male shep since you can't romance Ashley as fem shep and as I have stated else where I am not a lesbian even though I hate men I am not a lesbian. I understood that it was your "perspective" you meant, I was just telling you mine.
