I'm really glad to see that I am far from the only one finding this game disappointing.

I honestly didn't realize that there were more dialogue options if your companions reached a certain "rival" status, I thought the higher the rival status, the higher risk of the companion in question to leave you.

I agree on the re-use of "floorplans". It has also been a subject of great annoyance to me.

Isabela is a clear sign ( in my mind ) that BioWare is heading in a new direction. Her enormous breasts and ****ty comments are just not what one would expect in a BioWare release. I'd be tempted to say that Isabela was put in as a distraction like "Ohh darn... Our game is quite bad.. Let's put in some eyecandy to distract the player!" but maybe that's taking it too far. Some of her comments, while ****ty WERE actually funny, but I just find the Isabela character to be annoying because its like there is too much focus on sex with her particular character.

A positive feature I must say, is the talent system. I liked the new setup and the amount of variety. And the spellanimations were good too.

My favourite companions in DA2 were Fenris and Merril. Fenris because he is vicious but fair, and very inspiring. Merril is funny and innocent in her behaviour, but yet also very dangerous because of her blood magic. I found her to be very sweet.

The renegade/paragon "interactions" in the middle of cutscenes (as seen in ME2/3) might have been useful for some of the DA events, but in any event this is not a must. Just an idea.

As a last subject, I'd like to thank everyone who has taken the time to respond to my post and I am actually surprised to see how many serious replies this post has recieved.
Maybe it's just me I'm just used to trolls and a lot of arrogant kids wherever I end up on the internet/games. Nice to experience good behaviour for once. :)

Ignoring your prudish comments regarding Isabella, the fact that you didn't get the friendship/rivalry was your issue. NOT something the game did wrong.

Don't blame your ignorance on the game.

That said, the reused areas were the only thing in this game that bothered me. And the lack of more customization options, but then, Bioware has never had the biggest character creator, and it's hardly horrible.

Faux - I did write that I honestly didn't realize it. That means that I now know that I missed it. A mistake on my behalf, but to label me as ignorrant is a little harsh I think. :)

Yeah, because it makes total sense that your companions keep helping you when you make them angry and treat them like dirt.

Either way, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the devs themselves thought it could have been handled better, and is currently leaning towards going back to the DA:O system with approval/dissapproval in DA3.

One of the most disappointing games I've ever played. If not the most disappointing.

Honestly I found no redeeming value in it at all.

Terrible game.

Hmm...I wouldn't say this. I would rather replay DA2 than ME3

And honestly, I didn't get that annoyed at DA2. Yeah, it wasn't as great as Origins, and the reuse of maps annoyed me too(all those identical caves..uuugggghhh) but the companions were ok(I could even be mean to them!)
I personally see DA2 as a bridge between Origins and awesomeness that has yet to come :)

I feel like the game has been simplified a lot and made more "action-based" maybe to try and reach a wider playerbase. But I dislike this idea A LOT in fact. This is a new "trend" which I tend to see a lot in BioWare's recent releases. I really hope that BioWare will start to focus on what got them this far, and once again make epic RPG's and not actionbased massappealing moneymakers.

They won't. That's the tragedy. :crying:

I actually enjoyed DA2...but I feel that DAO was a much better game storywise. It seems that Bioware "dumbed down" the RPG aspect of DA2 in favor of increasing the action aspect of the game to reel in a wider playerbase. There are already enough action games out there. Bioware should stick to what made them a great RPG game developer. Make a great story and they will come.
