I have the official soundtracks, and somebody who knows how to splice music. The only part that might therefore be fiddly is getting the voices into the breath scene. That is seriously all I need for closure in that regards, and a really good concept you've decided to add. If the last thing the players hear is their LI or best friend in the game, then that's more than was in the end of the first two games, excluding epilogues.
Good thing is that the LI's and closest party members all have plenty of dialogue there to work with. Once I figure the basics, I'd like to build the music up at that point so it runs smoothly into the credits and ends the game on a high. Both ME1 and ME2 did that nicely and some of the uplifting music there might work. Going out on that high is the key I think.
One other Idea I had might be to look at the crewmate shots in the credit music, or as part of a fade to black involving some final shots of all the gang from ME1 and 2. They did that really well at the end of LOTR, and something similar might work here. I might look at some stills from iconic moments or the like, as a background to the credits. It beats trying to add something like that into the game, but gets the message across and brings things back to the crew and Shepherd, without messing with the endgame pacing.
Just thinking this one through, and maybe getting ahead of myself here. Feel free to use these ideas if they sound good to you as well\\. Its good to share these and I appreciate the tips. At the very least there's some useful skills to learn that will come in handy for other projects.

Actually I like the endings.. not some hollywood clichè ending where the hero saves everyone and then they all have a party flooded with rivers of alcohol..

Aaaaah, and Shepard becoming god-emperor or pushing the utopia-button is not cliche at all?
Don't make me laugh, there is also none of what you outline there in this, so you can just elect to ignore it altogether.

This isn't made by hollywood.
There is no party.
There is no alcohol.
You don't have to view it?

Plenty of people die in this ending, both main characters (Mordin, Thane, Legion, Chambers, Anderson, etc.) and the anonymous millions (billions?) on the invaded planets. Tons of things are destroyed - the Citadel (and the people on it), most of Earth, the Mass Relays, etc.
The ending is bleak, but it has HOPE. Plus, it did what all games MUST do in order to be considered games - it gives us a way to win. This ending says that if you worked hard enough, hit all your goals, and played well enough, you could destroy your enemy while minimizing your losses.
I don't think Bioware wrote bad endings. I just think that they worked in too much sacrifice and too many plot twists for them to be fully satisfying.

The camera pans over the rubble. We hear the sounds of a search party in the distance.
LIARA: (yelling from off screen, part of the unseen search party) OVER HERE!
The camera stops on the burned chest armor of Shepard.
LIARA: (surprise and amazement in her voice) Shepard??
Shepard gasps.
Fade to black.

Ha! Once again, it's Liara that finds and saves Shepard after s/he should have died.

The only unfortunate side effect of this solution IMO is that it shifts the final confrontation from the reapers to TIM. I always thought TIM and Cerberus got way too much focus ever since ME2 (despite the fact that Martin Sheen is an awesome voice actor). I think after dealing with TIM you need another section that really focuses on the reapers.
However, this section should NOT be the star kid so taking it out completely might really be the best solution.
In any way, kudos Vuduu!

Any ending that removes the spacebaby becomes 500% better and more coherent.

I do agree that I'd rather not have the final confrontation be with The Illusive Man. However, I think the final actual fight with all the Banshees was a satisfying end to the battle with the Reapers. I actually found myself dreading having to do MORE or tougher fighting after that.

The Hero ending wasn't the one we wanted, it was the one we deserved.
I like this much better than any of the official 3 endings pre or post E.C.

I don't get why they made Shepard die in the first place. It's a much better story if the hero lives. And why the Crucible A.I take on the appearance of a child?

Because people these days think that only tragedy merits the title of Artistic Achievement. People want to be mired in misery and despair; they want characters they've come to know and love to suffer; they want to have it reaffirmed for them that nothing they can do will ever be good enough; they want to bathe in the pain and suffering of the characters because getting a 'happy ending' in any way apparently negates any and all sacrifices made up until the ending.
In essence, because people are stupid.

Agreed! That, and there has to be ENOUGH tragedy for something to be "shocking" to people. I mean, heaven knows that Mordin, Thane, Legion, and Anderson dying just isn't enough. I get that ME is about making tough choices, but come on, after three games of hard fought victories, we wanted to WIN in the end!

I also love the Refuse ending; it could have worked really well if the equivalent of Refuse had been the only possible ending in the game. Mass Effect 3 is very depressing, and such an ending would fit well, storywise. (Three of my favorite movies have bad endings: Arlington Road, The Mist, On the Beach. Figures, huh?)
