Concerning MP bans

Hi, I'm one of the 1300+ people banned few hours after the Earth DLC download.

Before anything, I had 2.9/3.0 million credits when Earth DLC came out, not thousands of millions as others declare.

Sorry for any conjugation errors but English isn't my native language :D

¤  After spending my credits, taking a glimpse of the new features, I got banhammer'd. For what? I really don't             know.

I've been playing ME3 all this week farming credits and saving them for the DLC. Perhaps I've joined a match where someone was hacking or whatever (didn't see nothing suspicious apart from a Geth IIRC constantly dying and respawning at the landing zone in FBW)but since I've been banned I think that the reason is credit glitching or something like that, because I don't cheat (especially in a Co-Op game)

I never look at my credit pool, I've been saving them since I've unlocked the Phoenix Vanguard, except for some PSP from time to time and some Reinforcement packs to refill medigels.

When Earth came out I went shopping-spree like everyone.

Now let's be honest. Even if you notice that your credits are changed, you can't possibly refuse to buy packs just because some idiot edited his .ini file and the whole team got hundreds of million credits in one match, not with a DLC baiting you. The best thing to do was reporting the issue, but the last one that did that got banned.

That said, I didn't do it on purpose. I thought I had those credits all along. Not to mention hardcore cheating like aimbot and stuff because everyone that has played with me knows that I don't cheat. For what it's worth, I apologize for "cheating", whatever I've done.

¤   Now, moving on to the heart of the topic, two things baffled me since I got banned.
  • Proof

There is none. I don't know why I've been banned and can't discuss any details with nobody. I've just recieved a mail from an EA bot that said "ohlolyou'rescrewed, contact Bioware". I've tried mailing mr. Tse to no avail.

  • Confusion

I've contacted EA support and they told me that PC users can buy another code for an online pass (I.e. just like Xbox360 and PS3 users) without buying the whole game. I've tried to make him post a link of some sort to this service but ultimately he couldn't give me a straight answer.

If someone can give me a simple answer please do.

¤   Moving on.

Why I think banning users is pointless and counter-productive.

Because they have actually paid for a full game, not for an half. The user doesn't deserve such an harsh punishment (really? perma-ban?) for being a jerk or in my case an effin' victim.

That's why I'm asking mr. Abrams (I take that you're the leader of the ban section) to rethink his actions. A permanent ban is like a death sentence to a player, especially for a fan like me and others.

But, I have an ideal solution to this. One that gives fair warnings and fair punishments. I call it  the "Sheldon's three strikes" method.

Strike 1: You got caught cheating, your profile is completely erased (deletion of all possessions and unlocks)

Strike 2: Profile Erase & Temporary Ban (three weeks are enough)

Strike 3: Permanent Ban, has to buy another license (or another ME3 copy)

tl,dr: Read the whole damn thing, it's important.

You should have patience. I'm sure they've gotten a  lot of emails about wrongful bannings.

Edit: Beat to the punch :(

I think it will take a little while, because Thomas Abram said that when they receive an email, they review that mentioned case from scratch.

We've concluded that this behavior has a negative impact on the Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer community. The exploitation that took place on this account directly violates the Mass Effect 3/Origin Terms of Agreement and/or Service. This.

And no, I'm no rocket glitcher, I don't even know how that works. Isn't it a console-only exploit?

Didn't you post yesterday saying you noticed your credits not diminishing when buying packs, and you kept buying them? And that you figured you had enough for 20 packs...yet you bought another handful after that ?

Seems pretty clear cut to me. If I've got you mixed up with someone else, I apologise.

Did I just read that you found out that you had 100 million credits and didn't want to report it because you were afraid of being banned and instead choose to spend it?

Ok...

Whenever these happen yes there is a pretty large influx of emails that happen. Wave went out yesterday meaning most people would have emailed last night creating a very large backlog. We do not discuss individual cases in public.

If it's true that the cheat of a team-mate affected you as well, would you accept having all your MP progress erased? The 1st strike should alway ever only be a warning or temp-ban (few days, week at max.). Resetting unlocks should be the (semi-)final punishment only. Perma-ban is barely harsher IMHO.

Being completely honest, I definitely can refuse to buy packs because some dude caught me up in cheating, especially because spending those credits means that I have profited off of cheating just as much as the person who executed the cheat, meaning I could get banned. I would definitely not even risk the chance of being banned from playing a game I paid for, especially since I'd effectively be getting banned for not wanting to spend time playing.

Yes and no. I'd gladly take a mp progress erase rather than a ban, both temporary and permanent.

Mr. Johnson, is the ban permanent?

And if you have no way of knowing whether you were affected by someone else's cheat? Does BW investigate cases like "I think I got credits because of someone else cheating. Please reduce them to the correct amount!"?

It was 2.9-3 million credits in total, not 102201301k

Seems pretty much normal for one that saves them since two weeks post-rebellion.

To all the haters, I hear you, I'm one of you. That's why it hurts so much.

You thought you earned over a 100 millioon credits....really?? You knew the credits were glitched, but you close to spend them.

And yea, if it happen to me, I could easily refuse to spend them.

Guilt by association.  They have to assume that you were complicit in the cheat; i.e., the guy who set up the cheat is a buddy of yours.  It's kinda like a police raiding a strip club because some...illicit activities were going on.  Regardless if you were involved or knew about it, the cops are going to round everyone up and possibly haul you in.  After sorting a few things out, if you truly weren't doing anything wrong, then they'll let you walk.

Wow. I'd be off BW games forever if I were perma-banned or reset without warning or proof of any cheating. Which I don't do and luckily didn't end up in a game with someone else cheating so far.

A glitch reset my profile a few weeks ago. Luckily it was restored a few hours later. I wouldn't go through unlocking all this stuff again. Disclosure: I spent 15 EUR on packs so far. Might be more, if BW's bug fixing, modding and unlocking policies were more sensible.

And this is why I always look at my credit count before and after a match.
