With permanent bans? That will ruin their income as time passes. This week they probably lost 1300+ potential buyers, some guilty, some not.

I find it hard to believe anyone cheating would ever buy packs for this game as they all have the 'why pay for something when you can get it for free mentality'

I'm pulling figures out of thin air here, as thats all I can do, but lets assume 10% of players actually buy packs and 90% of players who were banned in the last wave were guilty. Which leaves just 1% of people banned who would potentially buy packs, the loss is negligible. You could alter the percentages to work more in your favour but either way its not going to be a big figure.

I could also argue that by banning cheating players, people are more likely to spend money on packs. It leaves a lump in your throat if you're paying real money for something when you know someone else is getting it for free for no effort.

I appreciate your post, but again, you said it: you're talking in hypotheticals. You probably are right, but the point of this thread is that this guy isn't getting anything than a creepy Orwellian answer as to why he was banned.

I don't think he stole the game, so it's safe to assume:

1) He (or someone who cares about him) paid 50+ for the game.
2) There is no splash page (when signing on to EA servers) explaining what's "wrong" in a virtual non-pvp game.
3) No splash page explaining that you can get banned, even.
4) He got banned from a significant portion of the game that was paid for with real money.
5) He has yet to receive a specific answer as to why.
6) He's not fabricating customer services' creepy responses - because let's face it, the mods would have booted him for lying.

If you were banned from a part of a game that was paid for, you would at least expect a satisfactory answer.

Good points.

1) True.  I personally paid £70 for the CE
2) No splash but the Origin Terms of Serice outline what they class as cheeting.  I know i have not performed anyof these
3) True
4) again true
5) This is very much indeed true, atleast in my case.  the responses i have had are terribly rude and vague.

I dont think anyone could possible comeup with any arguments for your points, unless they just wanted to flam or pick a fight for the sake of it.

Lets not get derailed though, people were banned who shouldnt have.

Even if they SHOULD have been banned, a simple explanation as to why should suffice.

Agreed.
If they are banned, have the common desency to tell them why exactly.
They're perminently banned, right, so telling them wont hurt you in the slightest.

And you'll never know why you were banned, that my point exactly.

As for your DLC issue, you need to contact them and get it sorted.  All my stuff still works, Javik, the argus&armor, and the Firefight pack are all still functional.

The only one they should have stripped off you is the OnlinePass (that you can rebuy for £9 for console or £30 for PC!)

You know what, this whole fiasco is started to make me understand what "exploitation" realy means..

It's bad. The industry is getting pretty gross. If they don't give you guys an answer I will be really turned off from ever buying a Bioware game again. The heartbreak began back when I read a review of DA on GameInformer, where they said you needed to buy a DLC just to get A LARGER INVENTORY. Then all of the ME3 problems. And now the way they treat their customers? Gross. Thank God for Ouya.

This kind of reminds me of an article detailing how the Halo movie fell apart, and a big point of the article was Microsoft's inflexibility. Videogame industry is full of engineers who couldn't think their way creatively out of a paperbag (in terms of "people problems, the non-quantitative, etc). Qualitative, empathy is on short supply. I see that a lot here. A lot of customer squashing, Devs just stamping the Company Line before making some kid feel like garbage for trying to assert his right/opinion as a paying customer.

Agreed.
I'm 34 years old and will not be pushed around or silenced like so many kid customers.
I'm going to take this as far as is needed, out of principle.

I work in customer support for a university so I like to think I know what I’m talking about here.
And i can tell you now i would not accept these kind of responses from my staff, and my bosses would kick my ass if allowed such behaviour.
And guess what; we dont sell computer games, we sell educations.

Yes I am aware someone like Redjonh woudl have said a lot of credits, is he banned, nope. The two people in this thread have now said in some way or another that they had either used modified files, or were in a game with people that have had modified files. We do not discuss individual cases on the forum for all to see, so people get to hear one side of the story.

Probably already asked, but is there a way to know if someone else has a modified .ini file? This kinda has got me paranoid now...

Wait, so your saying to me. I'll get investigated as I continue to fill out my manifest by extensive, fair play?

Ha - good luck getting another answer from the Mods - ever since that post, they've been pretending that this thread doesn't exist.

My account use to be hacked ages ago on Org ion i did change my password many times. I am not really good when its comes to PC and technical stuff i just play the game. I paid £60 for me to get banned online without proper reason other then exploiting not good enough, i been robbed of half the game for something i don't even know what i have done. Like one of the previous guys said Bio ware should warn uses first starting to issue bans and not given response, why they did it. I Hate cheaters and i always like to play the game fair and properly, if i get accused of it then i want sufficient evidence instead of just saying exploitation as i don't even know what that means in mass effect 3 multiplayer

Hello,

I have taken a look into your account and can confirm that you have been banned for exploiting multiplayer. We take cheating very seriously and we have decided that this ban will be permanent.

Ernest Tse

They won't answer that question, because they already have done so...

But I'm hoping you don't go on that indication
alone, are you? Had it not been for the Particle Rifle released last
week, I'd have had the Typhoon at X already, as I saved up almost 7mil
credits before Earth DLC hit and got 13 UR out of my 67 PSP - meaning
without the PR I'd have the Typhoon maxed in a matter of an hour by
spending the legitimately earned credits.

I'm
sure they just look and see if the credits were optained legitimately.
People think turning off feedback hides credit glitching from BW....but
it doesn't.

Indeed we investigate, not just ban on the spot

@ Siran

You're not considering the context of this thread.

So, yes, the mod who works for EA said that they take all necessary precautions when investigating, but if that was the case, what is there to hide? Why not just tell someone (specifically) why they were banned?

That's why people are re-asking about their policy regarding maxed Ultra Rares and investigating. Yes, they said that there is much care taken, but people are still uneasy about them when they won't divulge specific reasons as to why.

And honestly, I was referring to the main part of this thread - no one has received a specific answer as to why they were banned.

the reason they're afriad to tell anyone why they are "banned" is that they think

that that person will try harder to avoid detection.

which is just silly
I mean really cheaters will find ways of cheating no matter what you do.
I mean just look at the rocket glitch. they say it's fixed but poeple found a way to bypass that fix...

oh and just being in the same lobby as a cheater is grounds for a ban. complete rubish.
I mean all any cheaters have to do is, alter something that no one can notice and just go to as many lobies as possible and get poeple to play more than one game in a row and, wala insta huge ban wave.

Basically they escalated my issue so lets see what they say
hopefully i will know by today :). I dont even no much about computers then to go cheat online game which wouldnt much difference to enjoy myself, its was call of duty game then fair enough, why would someone want to hack to cheat in mass effect 3 multiplayer is beyound my understanding.

They are not afraid. They know if they keep telling people why/how they were caught people will figure out the detection methods. It isn't rocket science, BW is going to look at the game stats and see how many missiles were fired and who fired them. They are going to look at the other players, then they are going to look at other games the glitcher played and if the same people were there.

BW has said many times if you continue to play with a cheater, you have a higher risk of being banned yourself. I was in multiple matches with missile glitchers, but it was always just one match because; A) we kicked the glitcher or B) I left the lobby.
