You will lose it. But you keep all the money you have, so you can sell it before going to the deep roads for the first time.

wait if it's an DLC item you will keep, only main game items are taken awa during the dwarfs arrest...
although you should sell the Mace but to the dwarf mechant in derinim (Gorim) he will buy it for slighty more and with 625+ coins you will be set for the game
