Lawl, I thought I was good at this game. I completed it on Easy and Normal. I never died before, but I browsed around the forums, and I saw all of you peeps talking about Specs, Talents, Tech Stuff, Armor Combinations.

I was wondering if you guys could check and give me some suggestions? I just cant seem to complete iat on Hard or let alone stand Nightmare. I always just used the armor I got that was best.

I always used: Allister, Morrigan & Sten until Wynne came. I replaced Sten with Wynne. Then when the dwarf came, I replaced Allister with him. I know how to use strategies. I made my own Strategies. But I really need some help, I can't get past the basement in Redcliffe when you are on your way to save the kid. It's just too damn hard, can anyone give me some tips? Please?

Well, from looking at your character, you may not be optimizing as well as you can. Your highest level character has most of the dual-wield talents, but not the one that allows wielding two full-size weapons without penalty, yet you're wielding two longswords. Additionally, you have a lot of talents wasted in sword and shield and two-handed weapon use. It's usually best with warrriors and rogues to concentrate on one fighting style, maybe throw in a couple ranged talents (or, if primarily ranged, melee talents) for flexibility, and otherwise put points in general and specialist talents. I imagine your other characters are a little oddly organized as well.

I guess you're hitting Redcliffe last since your character is level 17?? I've never done Redcliffe that late, but the only thing that should give you trouble is the courtyard fight. (Well, maybe those nasty mabari.)

Alistair is probably (hopefully) specced sword and shield. Dump Oghren and get Alistair back. This will allow him to soak up some damage while your character concentrates on dealing damage. Hopefully then you'll need less healing. Tell us what Wynn and Morrigan can do and maybe we can figure out a strategy that will work.

there is only a few shades/unded in that basement, I can't see how those would cause any problems. there have been alot harder battle before you got this far.

My chars didnt update actually. I just used the respec talent to respec. And Alistair is fully Sword and Shield yes. Wynn is a Damage Dealer and Wynn is like 75% healer and 25% damage.

Is doing redcliff last harder? I know the mobs & bosses lv with you but didn't think it'd make much defference in the end. I'm thinking of doing redcliff/tower last.

I dont know, its alot harder then I did it the first time on Easy Mode. But thats probly cause I am trying it on Normal. Which still shouldnt be even that hard. I just dont know whats up. I thought I was a good player at this game, and I see people saying they did it like 2-3-4 times on Nightmare mode. Even a guy did it SOLO on Nightmare mode. I'm seriously confused about what the fook is going wrong with me. o.O

easy is ALOT easier than normal, you can for most battles just hack n slash your way through the game whilst normal you acually have to use strategies to defeat a large percentage of opponents., nightmare/hard are not that much more difficult than norm, only difference ive found is some high rank enemies resist your spells/talents more easily and theres full dmg from friendly fire

Yea, thats probably it. I'm working on it though, I got past the group just know that I was stuck on. And I made it outside. I also just finished the Mage things on Normal. And I am in the fade, having trouble with the smacking **** troll that smacks you down all the time.

Alistair can be one -hell- of a tank, if you set him up right. Partly, because as a shield specialist, he naturally has good defense - his flaw is his armor, and vulnerability to magic. You can fix those two, by focusing his gear on armor+ items, and getting the most important piece of armor for him from a human merchant on the entrance to orzammar: Knight Commander's Armor. There are other knight commander pieces, but the armor confers a tremendous +40% spell resistance. (Templar only)

During that playthrough, my main was an arcane warrior. She was tough, really really tough. Solo'd fully grown dragons, and just about solo'd the arch demon (everyone else got fried by her many castings of storm of the century). Alistair was just about as tough, even though I had him stick with a rather mundane weapon that weakens nearby darkspawn.

I usually kept Alistair with the party at all times, and swapped out the other two remaining slots between Shale, Lelianna, Oghren, and Wynne. Occassionally I used morrigan. Don't forget you CAN setup Morrigan/Wynne's tactics to cast combo spells. An easy one is to have them cast crushing prison on anything immobilized. Then, whenever they cast forcefield, you get a nice shockwave right after. Same goes for other tricks - like the glyph combo, or grease fire (check for movement impaired). Etc.

I actually dont have any Spell Resist gear for Alistair. Thanks alot of pointing that out. Right now I'm using the Blood Dragon armor for Alistair, and the Massive Dragonbone Armor for my main Warr Character. I'll go look for it right away. Thanks!
