Trying to save Connor at Redciff in the fade and not having much luck
I've given it about 3 goes and no luck. The second encounter always gets me. Any ideas on how to beat this with Morrigan?

I've done it twice with her. What's the problem? She doesn't have the right spells, or she doesn't say the right things? What..

I did it with Morrigan, and it was sort of easy. Cone of Cold is quite close to insta-win against the fire demons, and the Bossfight is easy if you know the trick when she splits herself up. However, you must be ready to swallow a few potions. And since the patch has made CoC weaker, it´ll be harder then what I experienced.

Morrigan has the perfect spells for that part. Try doing it with Jowan for a better challenge.
Winter's grasp 1shots the rage demons, If your health goes down you can just vuln hex + life drain and should you ever really run into trouble, look for a lyrium vein.

Cast spell shield and engage. Immediately cast glyph of repulsion on the demon then run back so your a good distance away. Cast glyph of paralysis on your repulsion. This freezes her solid for 10 - 20 seconds. Cast inferno so that it incorporates all the spawn points. Staff her and spam frost until shes dead. She shouldn't be able to damage you at all.

This is the only place where I actually used her transformations. It makes this part very easy.

CC then Winter's Grasp. Spam them other attack spells. Kite like hell until those spells come back up. Just don't get hit (duh) and spam anything and everything to ensure you don't get hit.
Hopefully you have some form of AoE CC. If not, Kite Kite Kite. And pop a heal pot instead of healing with spells.
Cone of Cold makes everything easy mode. Fireball is awesome, too.

When the demon splits, only one is really her. If you hit any of the others, you actually strengthen her. There are a lot of "puzzles" like that in this game. You watch the animation really close, and can see which one is her, it looks different. Hit that one. Bam. She's an easy take down with Morrigan. Yes, I used Cone of cold. But the trick is knowing which of the dopplegangers is really the demon, because when you hit the OTHERs, whatever damage you meant to do to the main demon actually strengthens her by that much, making your fight much more difficult. Turn the numbers on for that fight and watch what happens. You'll see you're strengthening her if you hit one of the dopplegangers. But one of them is really her. If you hit that one, you hurt her. It's a quick fight so long as you don't strengthen her in the process. At least, that's what I believe is happening.

Got to the last fight and now having a bit of a problem but working it out.
Thanks for the advise of using an ice spell on a fire enemy...duh *smacks forehead* I get tunnel vision so bad sometimes and it makes it hard to think outside of that box.
Now just to get cracking on the last fight, gave it to rounds, going in for a third. Spider works but can't get healed unless you come out of that. Guess spaming of spells and running around like a crazed women may work.

I only failed with her once on normal, and that is because the demon resisted a couple of things then got seriously lucky and downed morrigan when she was stunned. Did it again and had no problem, was just really unlucky that first time.

Unless I don't know how to read the damage #'s....
If you are hitting the dopplegangers of the demon, YOU ARE MAKING HER STRONGER and wasting your strength! ONLY HIT HER. When she splits...watch the animation. ONE is her. The other 5, when you hit them, make her stronger. You're healing her by the amount of damage your strike would cause.
DON'T HIT ALL OF THEM. Just figure out which one is really her, and hit her. It's an easy fight if you don't strengthen her while youre fighting her. Seriously.

I mean easy. I mean I can take her down without even drinking a potion. Just don't hit the dopplegangers.
This is not the only fight in the game where there are things like this. It's a puzzle, not a fight.
You know the fight in soldier's peak, where you get the Arcane horror that keeps healing no matter what? It's because the resurrected corpses keep feeding it...shooting power to it? You have to kill them and ignore him until they're dead or your wasting your energy? THIS IS THE SAME THING BUT OPPOSITE! If you hit anyone but the real one, you're feeding the enemy, not hurting it. You're making this fight much harder than it needs to be.
In the options menu, turn on the numbers that show damage. You'll see it that way. You can turn them off after wards if you want. This is a relatively easy fight, so long as you don't fight against yourself. But if you try to hit all 5 or whatever of these things, you're fighting against yourself.

I just cast Tempest so it covered as many of the "spawn points" the demon uses to duplicate herself as possible. Knocked her out REALLY quick that way.

I took the easy Road. I used My Main Character and just kept using freeze/fire combos...too easy.

I did it on my first playthrough, on Normal, and I hadn't even gotten used to the combat control system yet. Didn't strike me as particularly difficult, didn't have to reload. I just threw various spells at her till she fell over.

Pat,
I heard and understood what you said. However when I fought the demon I didn't see the same thing you're describing.

I used an AoE as well, though Blizzard in my case (with Wynne). She can heal from the collateral damage all she likes, but she's still taking damage and can't do jack while frozen, hah!

Also, I think the duplicates disappear the instant the real demon takes damage, anyway, so blasting her with Tempest takes care of the problem, anyway.

I figured it out when I turned on the floating numbers and spell names for a while to see what my enemies were doing, and here, every time I hit most of them, she was getting +numbers instead of just normal damage #s. I'm pretty sure.
Next playthrough I'll check again.
