Ashley and Kaidan are diffferent characters. What happens to one doesn't have to happen to the other.

Kaidan is apparently Bi. That's part of his character.

Ashley is straight. That is part of her character. My evidence for this is that she is not romancable for femshep.

Get over it already.

Thanks!  She first really came to my attention in Sarah Connor Chronicles, which was really getting good when it was cancelled.  She was pretty much the best part.

And to keep this on topic, I would pay handsomely for a f/f Lena Headey romance DLC for ME3.

They could call it the Imagine Lena and FemShep DLC ... if you saw the movie this would make sense for f/f.

There's nothing in the released game that says anything other than her not wanting to hit on FemShep.

I mean...we don't say since Zaeed doesn't hit on FemShep he must be gay. Some people just aren't into Shep. Case closed. Maybe some just are only into certain genders of Shep or Sheps that hit on them first. *shrugs*

i understand that, and am ok with it, Katherine likes Samantha anyways. but why would ash not even mention to femshep "do not try to romance me, i do not liek girls" other than bioware did not want her to? did she have some experiece with a woman that mortified her and she does not want to sound like a jerk to a gay femshep? or is it something else?

Because it isn't relevant? Speaking from strictly an in-game perspective - any of the characters sexuality doesn't seem to be a relevant subject that needs to be discussed.

Remember that in the future, being Religious is the equivalent of being gay today.

I've got two bi friends who I've been friends with for a long long time, enough to see them in all the various states of relationship, from trying to pick up strangers in bars to crazy in love to dumpsville and back again. One of them sees gender as completely cosmetic; he likes long hair, muscles, jokes, outdoorsy people who like animals, etc, and he hits on everyone in exactly the same way.

The other is different. She likes long hair on girls, but with guys she likes short, close cuts. The women she dates are usually curvy, the guys she dates are usually lanky. She only dates people who are kind of nerdy either way, but she gets way more interested way more quickly when a woman mentions being at a con than when a man does. And she almost always makes the first move with other chicks, but I've never once seen her do it with a guy. We've talked about it and her theory is that interested guys will always hit on her but girls are socialized not to so she knows she has to make the first move, but it's just a theory. She doesn't really know why she does it that way, she just always has.

I haven't observed any of my other bi friends through enough relationships to see it in person, but they self-report the same way - to some, gender matters in various small ways, to others it doesn't, and there's no real rhyme or reason to it. It just is. If Ash is completely always-known-it bi, maybe she just doesn't make the first move with women. If she's a really low Kinsey maybe she's never been interested enough before that she had to figure out how to flirt with women to begin with and isn't confident the way she is with guys, who've always been easy to snag. There's pretty much no way to justify it that wouldn't be realistic or even outright common. Sexuality is just that varied and random and poorly understood.
