 Seriously, this class is almost great. Snap freeze is a fun power, sure its not that damaging but going through walls is cool, and energy drain has it's uses. But seriously, the shield is ridiculously underwhelming right now. Planting it prevents you from doing ANYthing, enemies often hit you all the time even when it's up, and if you get flanked thats it, your done. Plus the melee you do setting up the shield has almost no radius, and it's kind of lame spending all those points in a fire or cryo shield, only to be useful in those rare moments when you can safely melee an enemy. 

The shield needs to cover more of you're body, at least up to a forty-five degree angle from the front on both sides of the paladin. The heavy melee that puts the shield up should also do a wider radius attack, like the destroyer or ex-cerberus, as it would give actual incentive to melee more often, otherwise you can just snap freeze spam and not bother with trying to melee more often than any other caster class
