DA2 obviously suffered from environmental limitation. I'm hoping the article just meant "more open" as opposed to stuck in Kirkwall, and not "open-world." (Of course, I'm pretty sure that the article doesn't mean anything other than someone is spreading unsubstantiated rumors.) I don't need another sandbox game, there are other developers who have already made the world their main character and done it very well. And while I enjoy a good dungeon dive as much as the next girl, I'd rather not spend days wandering around the country side trying to check out every nook and cranny. What's compelling about BioWare games is their characters and the story. So as long as they don't lose sight of that while creating a more imaginative and interactive world, I'm sure I'll be pleased.
Without a doubt. I don't want that to change. However, their level design is mediocre and theur level designers turn EVERYTHING into a hallway, even outdoor evnvironments. Mass Effect, Dragon Age... it doesn't matter. They do it the same way regardless of the game.
Hallways. It's the same reason I hated DOOM 3. I don't see why BioWare can't open up the levels a bit more. It doesn't have to be open world like Skyrim for that.
