Do you think we will ever see a game similar to Baldurs gate or Dragon Age: Origins from Bioware again? By that i mean another game in the fantasy setting, not neccasary in the Dragon age universe, which priority is to deliever a solid RPG experience as appose to a cinematic experience. Now i know people will intepret this the wrong way; that i am flaming the Dragon Age direction thowards a more cinematic experience as a bad thing which i am not. I can absolutely understand why people like the direction Bioware seems to be taking this franchise, after all Mass effect is one of my favourite series ever made.

Now, i might be an optimist but i think that we will see this from Bioware in the future. However, i do not think it will be a Dragon age game. So what do you think?

P.S . You have to excuse my poor grammar, English isn't my native language

No. Bioware has decided to make cinematic games.

No, they said it many times that there's no turning back.

Not exactly. But that doesn't mean they won't make good games. DA2 and ME3 taught them a lot of lessons.

I do believe that Bioware is moving away from the more "old school RPG" style games, and in to an era of more heroic, cinematic, visual games. But I also believe that as they perfect their technique, we will be pleased with their future games.

But only if you are looking for "a good game", not "a good old-fashioned RPG".

I don't know that it will be BioWare, but someone will pick up the underserved market as most other developers move into cinematic-kinect-etc. mode.

I absolutely think Bioware will make good games in the future despite leaving the old-school RPGs. It is still by far the best developer out there, however, it's been years since i played a non-Bioware game. But i think that making cinematic and visual games shouldn't hinder you as a company to also make the old-school RPGs. That was one of the reasons i was a little disappointed by DA2; i thought Bioware could make the cinematic and visual games, i.e. Mass effect, aswell as the more old-school RPGs.

But like i previously wrote, i think they will eventually launch a new franchise in the "spirit of Baldurs gate" yet still have two franchises that are more focused on the cinematic experience in space- and fantasy-setting.

Obsidian?
It would be great to see them work on an original IP.

It will likely be some never-before-heard-of developer. Steam, Live Arcade, and similar services (although mostly Steam, I admit) has really allowed the indie game market to explode. You'll be browsing random indie games on a Steam sale or something, and suddenly, Bam! What? That's the game I've been looking for all along! Someone finally made it!

They will, at a lower cost and with lower production values. Not that it really matters, I've probably had 10 times more fun with Rainbow Moon than I had with DA2.

They already are just no one knows what it is yet...

South Park looks fun for anyone who liked Costume Quest/Paper Mario.

I'm excited for South Park.

I hope they drop some clues about their original IP soon. I can't say I've ever been disappointed by Obsidian.

Ain't it great?  The variety is what got me to finally upgrade to a proper gaming laptop instead of being restricted to PS3 titles.

Good value, too.  They're cheap enough that even if you only find 1 gem in a dozen downloads, you still get your money's worth.
