What Would Be Wrong For The Paladin To Have Slow Movement Speed Like The Cerberus Guardian?

Espically during escort or delivery missions you can't be defensive with the paladin because you're grounded in one spot while your whole team is moving with the objective and getting shot up you can't provide the proper support or the support that would keep your team alive.
Also how would slow movement speed make this class overpowered his shield breaks after enough projectile damage and shatters mostly immediately from melee the ability to move slowly should definitly not cause this class to be overpowered but to be the defensive support sentinel that he is suppose to be.

I assumed that he could move slowly as well. The promotional image for the Earth DLC implied movement.
I mean you can't really provide good cover for your team or being that good defensive shield if you can't even move a little bit lol.

Would be nice, I like him how he is but he cant do Escorts so easily
I mean you can barely do anything to be the shield for your team if you can't even move,

Movement with the shield deployed was a point others made however. There was quite some nice ideas flowing in there until it got swallowed up by the FTL forum.

I still haven't got any of the new characters but agree the inability to move seems very strange. Movement at a reduced speed (like when you're carrying the delivery object) would make more sense.

Exactly slow movement speed when you have a objective or slow movement like the guardian and it would be perfect

The paladin on the other hand, has a forcefield shield (much lighter than metal) so it makes more sense that he'd be able to move with it and carry a small side arm.
Bioware should make it that the paladin can move slowly with shield out IF he's carrying a small pistol or SMG. You only need one hand to fire those types of weapons, hell you could probably get away with a low-recoil shotty. AR's and SR's though, u would need both hands to aim properly.

What if the shield could absorb damage and throw it back at enemies when it is destroyed or toggled off? Maybe that damage could prime a BE, making the paladin a little more sentinelish.
I'd go with that lol

I think it would be too late to add movement, they'd have to animate it and patch it if they didn't already have animations done for it. I really would like movement, but at this point I'm just happy the class is good enough to plat with.
Actually they could easily patch espically if the paladin is a model off the cerberus guardian but with a different appearance they could add a patch to incorporate the guardians movements as the paladins own I don't think that would be too hard to do and still not have to change the over all progaming to accomplish it.

Yeah, I believe that will be the nail making this permanent. Plus, mechanically, I kind of guess that it would not be easy to do since they have it implemented as a heavy melee attack. No heavy melee attack goes beyond two phases of animation: the initial seeking (movement) and the final attacking phase (without movement). Making it a movable thing may not be straightforward to do given the nature of melee attacks.

It depends on how their models are set up. They might have to do some extra animation work.
I'm also guessing that the shield is hard-coded to prevent movement, so they would need to revamp that part of the code.
At the very least it would require a patch, so I probably wouldn't expect it to change soon if it's going to change at all.
Personally, I think the Paladin is quite good, but I suspect that they'll buff him in a weekly balance change due to the hate he's getting right now.
