What Would Be Wrong For The Paladin To Have Slow Movement Speed Like The Cerberus Guardian?

Well I' mean it is not even hate really its just he can't provide the good support or defense as a shield sentinel if he just can't move

I always assumed that anything that came from an omnitool was weightless.

On the other hand, the Paladin can retract his shield to move at full speed (can he roll? Haven't tried him yet), whereas the Guardian can't, he's stuck carrying that door XD

Yeah but then you easily get destroyed by ravangers primes and anything else you that can shoot you from a distance it would be more of a better solution or idea to slowly walk up with the shield while taking fire until your shield breaks then getting annhilated before you can even put the shield up.

He can be good support and defence, but it can get a bit tricky at times.

Out of all the "tanks" in the game, he has by far the best control. Most things that aren't armoured get frozen very fast by me, and a CC'd target is better than a tanked target defensively speaking.

If there's a way to tank with something, I guarantee you that I will find it =P

I've considered making a video guide if I have the time, since so many people can't seem to make him work defensively.

and it would more sense because the Shadow Broker could move and run with the shield

Another reason why it kinda doesn't make sense why you can't even slowly walk with the shield.....

It wouldn't make him OP, but I also wouldn't expect it to happen since it needs a full patch to do. If they think he needs to be better, they'll buff him through the weekly balance changes somehow most likely.

To be fair, the Shadow Broker could also 1 hand a Revenant, and was twice as big as a Krogan =P

I was really disapointed with him. I won't be playing him again unless they allow movement. Right now, he just feels like a gimp Engineer without any form of decoy or ability to support the team when it matters. The only time he is useful for helping the team is on FBWGG, as they don't move, and can sit perfectly still behind the counters while he sits in front of the counter.

I love this class, a lot. Snap freeze is an amazing debuff, but as he stands right now I don't think he's tanky enough to compensate for his low damage output. The shield does not help this cause at all. In my experience it's actually pretty dangerous to use on gold and platinum.

You just can't be really a good tank if you can't even move with the shield and the shadow broker at least was able to run with the omni shield so why can't humans do a slow walk with it?

The Paladin is not a good class all things considered. The shield is a great idea that is terribly executed. He's absolutely useless on Platinum.

Suggestions

1) Make the shield regenerate a certain number of hit points per second. Maybe based on his number of shields. Or even based on the difficulty level, to keep the shield viable in each difficulty level.

2) Allow the paladin to move slowly with the shield deployed. He should be a tank, not a stationary wall.

3) Give the paladin some damage reduction when the shield is deployed. He is easily flanked or gibbed from behind.

4) Allow the paladin to use his powers when the shield is deployed, but at a higher cooldown rate.

5) Allow use of one handed weapons when the shield is deployed.

He really should be able to move while using the shield, as it is the shield is pretty bad and extremely situational.

I would like for them to buff him in other ways though, preferably by giving incinerate higher damage and making snap freeze and cryo blast debuff more, the shield movement thing would probably require a patch.

Cannon fodder guardian is better with his shield than elite N7 operative. He can move AND shoot. Ain't it funny?
Paladin is more or less useless on gold too. Throwing him into platinum is a bad idea. He's good against geth because of energy drain, that's all. Freezing is okay too. His trademark shield gets him killed.

I'm really not sure why Bioware designed the Paladin the way they did. It doesn't particularly good shields and it's health is sub par. The immobility makes the shield's offensive traits pretty much useless. They could have used the Guardian animation and let the Paladin move and maybe even use a pistol or SMG while the shield is up. Maybe if you don't have a pistol or SMG then you can use a weapon while shielded. It would take the Paladin from mediocre to great. As it stands the Paladin is the worst of the N7 classes.

i think i've said this on most threads related to the paladin's shield, i don't have him but from what i've seen people do when he's used

it should really be like the Boom Shield of Gears, where you can move with it protecting you, OR set it down and leave it so teammates can hop on it like regular cover, given how fast the shield breaks neither of those is enough to make it overpowered, now unlike Gears i would say no shooting while moving, and no carrying the shield around undeployed w/o a penalty (ie its there but 1/2 the size still slightly protecting you).

it really should work as a mobile cover platform (drop and someone else uses) or a moving self cover platform (again no shooting just reduced movement speed with the shield deployed)

although has anyone tried doing shield walls on Gold? its pretty funny against Reapers because banshees will get stuck teleporting trying to get over someone with a shield to get to someone without a shield

i had 3 guys all paladins box me in a corner (i don't have it so i was the only one without a shield out) and a banshee kept going for me and getting stuck mid teleport like on FBW counters, no magnet grab too lol the 3 paladens killed her by bashing her as well. fun but impractical
