Title is what some guy said to the rest of the team before quiting the platinum lobby 0.25 seconds.
So i need to vent.
I guess our weapons and equipment were too low for his highness. I was a 20 MQI, with widow X, not packing any other equipment than grenades I, because i never use consumables on my first game with people i don't know.
I just wanted to say to that guy, if he comes by, with that setting i went to wave 10 on my very first platinum game, scoring second, so i don't call that "not standing a chance... at all".
So that rude statement was just false, and I will not say what you are, because you know.

That guy is rude. I would just leave if I truly feel less confident about my PUG team. And congrat on your nearly successful platinum attempt. You will beat it in no time.

to be honest if you're not using equipment in platinum i wouldn't stay in the lobby either. wouldn't be rude about it though

I had someone join a platinum lobby with a level 1 avenger and... some other unleveled basic gun I forget. I just assumed he was lost.

People really should never under estimate what others can do. At the very least give them a chance first. I mean unless it is something severely underpowered I can understand. But otherwise....

people are rude and stupid (had my fair share this past weekend.) why can't everyone just play for fun? i always just go for it regardless who's in my lobby and what they're taking. everyone gets a chance with me.

The best guns for Platinum tend to be:-
Krysae/GPS/Reegar/Harrier/Typhoon/Biotic Explosions/grenades
The reason for this is coz these guns can trash hordes fairly well. And in Platinum u get swamped by hordes.
BW/Widow/Valiant/Paladin/Claymore are very strong weapons and do great in Gold. But because the enemy gets so close to you so quickly in platinum, means that u need something that is better at crowd control.
The fact that you were able to score up to wave 10, OP is probably because the rest of your team had crowd control weapons and your arc grenades would have been helping a lot too. If you'd chosen a more suitable weapon im sure you guys would have won faster.

yeah i understand but you can make a game to get acquainted with each other... if everyone is up to the challenge, then you can start using consumables. Even if you die between wave 7 and 10, you still get enough money to make it up for the time, and second game you can gear up fully.HOWLER_77 wrote...

Not everyone thinks that way and unless you communicate this to all players and they agree all they see is an ill prepared player.

Yeah, I always laugh at claims like these. A stranger can't know your capabilities. I've been told plenty of times in the lobby that I'm gonna die a ****load as a drellguard. First couple of gold matches, that was true, but once you get used to the class, it's win.

I don't like playing with people that refuse to use consumables on Platinum.* That's fine on Gold. However, on Platinum I want every reassurance that your DPS is going to be high enough. I would just leave the lobby. No need to be rude about it.
* There are a few very good players that are of course the exception.

I disagree on the higher levels. If you are using your best equipment and upgrades you can't afford to just see how a person does and wipe on an early round. Bronze? for sure, Silver? Probably but above that there is an expectaion that you will have reasonable equipment and mods to use. This is especially the case if you are just starting to play a harder level.
If I use my best cryo ammo, my best pistol upgrade, my best armor upgrade and I croak on wave 3 because I took a chance on a person not well equipped it is not a good feeling.

Nonsense. His comment was not warranted but his actions were. The op was using NO upgrades at all.

Yeah piranha too if you're shadow striking with Shadow Infiltrator. Its good to let loose that gun at point black after your initial charge

Understandable. But at the same time, the same thing can happen in reverse. You can have someone walk into the lobby with best weapons, gear, and consumables....only to find out they are terrible players who do not know how to handle the character or the match and is making really dumb mistakes.
