No it's not. People seem to think the fans are utterly blameless in this, but they aren't. And really, overanalysis was STATED as a reason they don't come and say much here unless they have something important to say. Because every little thing they say gets picked apart.
Just like what's happening here.
Which is a directly precipitated consequence of their actions to begin with. Had they produced a narratively cohesive, fleshed-out and elaborated upon ending that fully addressed their intentions, as any writer should do, the overanalyzation of the game--and their statements--would be rendered useless.
To put in simple logical terms, a (poor quality ME3 released) occurred, b (fan outrage) occurred in consequence. C (terror of overanalyzation) could have been avoided as a consequence.
So, they are now blaming fans for over-analysis when they released endings with "lots of speculation for all"-a bare bones ending that people kind of did a "fill in the blanks" with, that the writers then used to create the EC?
And they don't want over-analysis when they have gone on twitter and told people there'd be a reunion in the game that people couldn't find, then said it was clearly there since it's implied, and that they now say really can't happen because Shepard died in an ending that another dev says is a "beacon of hope". And then, they say it's purposely ambiguous and could mean s/he's dead or alive, but it's meant to be head canoned, which requires over-analysis because the whole destroy dialogue is a pile of stinking dog crap.
And then, we aren't supposed to analyse or try and figure things out when on the game's release day, Mac Walters says the galaxy is a wasteland and people agree and think it's horrible with the relays destroyed that everyone will die. But then on twitter they retcon that and say that didn't happen. And then in releasing the EC, they say they don't know how anyone could have possibly thought the galaxy would be destroyed or dark since they clearly never meant that to be the case.
Ok, in what parallel universe have they ever worked to avoid analysis and over-analysis. Fans were given crap endings and had to write the whole damn things in the first place to try and get it to make some kind of sense and it still doesn't. All the EC did was add explanation for the garbage that was already there and now, NOW after fans helped them kind of sort of partly fix the junk they knowingly released that no 2 year old would think was good, fans are over-analysing. That's a good one.
They have never come to this forum an any way to actually try to have a dialogue with registered owners of this game. They have helped to create a toxic atmosphere between their customers in order to protect what I don't know. We are customers and they have ignored, insulted, and allowed their proxies (paid reviewers) to treat us like crap so they can't handle analysis. They get paid to handle this stuff, just as celebrities must find a balance between getting good exposure and unwanted exposure.
Fans (customers) are not the problem. Fans, by and large, even when complaining have expressed the love they had for the games and even Bioware and put the blame on EA. You know what fans got in return? Lies, insults, and silence. That's really mature for a business.
