I was under the impression they did, but a super elitist I met yesterday insisted they didn't.  I have no idea which is right.  Input?

Grenades do benefit from +power damage so they should be receiving bonus damage if they're working right.

C'mon guys. No one else has an opinion? The more "yes, they do" posts there are the more relaxed I'll be able to feel when I use a power amp. If anyone from the BioWare could put this issue to rest id be appreciative.

I have heard yes before on these forums and I am inclined to believe so.

Of course, they are powers afterall, do tech amps affect arc grenades though?

I have been told they do since they are assigned to a power button and therefore NOT a weapon but I am not sure either.

Just based on these few comments I feel like BioWare confirmation is the only way to know for sure. There's a lot of uncertainty regarding this BW, help us out, please?

Yes thats a 100% sure. If you have GranadesCapacity V its worth it to go for powerdamage instead of Weapon Damage. Amplifier for maxed out power damage is just amazing.

I always assumed yes.
I hope so since I've taken pwr dmg option on a few grenade using classes.
The new N7 Engineer being a perfect example.

Narida's class builder shows them working on grenades. Those guys are usually pretty accurate with their code.  Seen here: narida.pytalhost.com/me3/classes/#00BAAAA@0@0AA@@

Grenades are a "power" so the answer is yes. You owned him good, bro.

Now to be clear, are we talking about power damage upgrades within a class' passive skill, or power damage bonuses from equipment and gear? Or both? I thought that grenades fell into some weird limbo where power damage from the passive tree works, but some grenades are neither tech or biotic, thus making them unable to benefit from things like Operative and Commando packages.

When you upgrade a class' passive power and force upgrades you will notice it increases grenade damage so therefore you can also use power amplifier equipment to increase grenade damage even more during a match

From equipment.  What you just described is what the guy from yesterday said.  I don't care if he's right or wrong, I just want to know for certain whether or not power amps are wasted on grenades.

Its actually quite simple and what i gathered from playing

First it depends on the power type, tech, biotic or combat.
A overall power bonus is applied to all types (example, if i take a power amp bonus my gi's pm can kill a husk, pm is a combat power)
A tech bonus in damage only applies to "tech" types or powers, snap freeze, ed etc
A biotic bonus ofcourse then to all space mage types of powers (even barriers)

Also.
A power amp does boost all types of powers, a specialised only the specific type of power.
(why theres no gear for combat power bonus?)
Also grenades always semm to count as "combat" power

Ok did a quick test. I ran a test on arc earlier when someone denied that cloaking increases the arc grenade damage.

No amps uncloaked i got a silver marauder for all shields +1 health
With cloak i got a silver marauder for all shields +3 health
With power amp 4 uncloaked, i got a silver marauder for all shields +3 health

So yes power amps affect arc grenades. No sure about frags. That would take longer to run

Frag ,multi-frag, Inferno grenades are combat powers thus only recieve bonus from + power damage
Cluster & lift Grenades are biotic and recieve bonus from both +power damage and + biotic damage
Arc & homing Grenades are tech and receive bonus from both + power and +tech damage

No prob. It cost me nothing except a few minutes anyway. Some people might not know but if you don't complete round 1 and alt f4 instead, you don't actually use your consumable

Evolution made to power damage (in the passive tree) effect the damage output of your grenades.
Since Amplifiers are additive to the power damage that means they add to your grenades damage.

Power Damage = Base Dam * (1+ Passive + Evolutions + AMP + Gear) * (multipliers such as [X%] damage to [defense])
