The bit you mentioned from PS:D was the main inspiration for free-form choices: I still want to have pre-prepared choices for those who aren't interested in making up their own, but there's an opportunity for better roleplaying and genuinely building your own story. With Normandy Trail and PS:D, it's mostly just picking what's already there. I did what I could to make it more open, but I could only go so far.
I've got some basic concepts of where it's going narratively wise, but I want to make sure people will go for this before writing thousands of words to be sent online. I've no intention of rushing it, so we can really have something special to play once it's done.

“Dexter?”
Almost out of morbid curiosity before being corrupted by the wiles of campus life, you gaze into the rear-view mirror. The buzzed haircut is hardly much to look at, but the long-haired look never seemed to suit you, regardless.
“DEXTER!”
Clearly, your attention was too focused on idle meanderings through the recesses of your mind.

Your father can feel the blatant distaste in your words. The last thing you want on this trip is pointless banter about watching out for yourself on campus. He waits a moment with a grimace on his face before speaking.
Anthony - "Just giving you an update. We're about 10 minutes away - it shouldn't be very long now... so you're still sticking with the major in dramatic arts?"
(1) "That's right."
(2) "Nope, I'm focusing on underwater basketweaving. It's all the craze."
(3) (Choose Another Major)

Dexter - "Nope, I'm focusing on underwater basketweaving. It's all the craze."
Your father turns his head back to the road. The van slowly pulls towards the side of the diminutive rural roadway, and your journey has been brought to a halt. For a brief few seconds of time, the only response you have is cold silence. Turning back to you, his face looks almost flushed red.
Anthony - "Dex, we've spent thousands of dollars of our money to get you into eastern university. We've always thought you've been full of potential; we knew it ever since you were young. But goddamn it, Dex, now is not the time to feed me this [----]. I know it's been a long ride, but please just give me a straight answer this time."

Anthony - "Thank you, that's all I wanted to hear."
The engine roars, albeit sputtering for a few seconds. Your father had always been a practical man, and it took quite a bit for him to lose a temper. Embracing the return of the once-broken tranquility of solitude, you put on your iPod and start a song for the remainder of the drive; If at least for some level of escapism. The blur of auburn shifts into a flowing tapestry of greys and blue - It's a world of concrete and formation, structure and awe.
Welcome to Eastern University.
(Loading Campus.)
It's an unmitigated safari of backpacks and parents. The droves of newly-born freshman of the collegiate wilds move in waves throughout the streets of EU. Your mother jenny decides to pipe in.
Jennifer - "You certainly won't have trouble finding friends here, I'm sure there's people out there for you, dex."
At long last, you arrive at Voldt Hall; the home for english, lit, and drama majors. And so begins the inevitable unpacking to your newfound home. The narrow hallways practically give you claustrophobia, with the closely-positioned fluorescent lights beaming down towards your fresh-off-the-van pupils. After having both you and your parents walk up two flights of stairs, you eventually find room 302. The compressed nature of the hallways were nothing compared to this. Fitting all of 4 people in one room, it's a potential nightmare come true; the only solace you find is the fact that you're the first one here, meaning you can pick the first room. Unfortunately, both of them are near identical, outside of which view of the window. The leftmost seemed to have a more scenic point of view, and thus it is done. After a few hours of unpacking, and saying goodbyes to your parents, this world is now your oyster. classes start tomorrow, so you have time to explore the campus or what may come to mind.
