If you are on a PC, the game is bugged and the boots are not there.
There are 2 mods out there to fix this but both of them are bugged and cause the game to break down (+2 attribute points every other level, freezing the game during dialogue cut scenes...)

You need to trade for the helm from the crazy hermit outside in the woods. The gloves you find while doing the Redcliffe questline.

lol that sucks, I already finished the mission in the wolf lair/ruins, when I went to check on him after wards to trade, he wouldn't speak to him. He just says the same thing just like any other minor computer people. hmm can you buy, or is this the only way to find them. Anyway I thought the 1.02 patch would fix these bugs and junk. Well where can you download this patch, is it on the bioware web site?

**** like this really needs to stop. the Ancient Boots mod works just fine. either do a better job diagnosing your game's problems or stop handing out bad information.Gelmirthebloody wrote...

Boots: Found in a cabinet in the Lothering Chantry (unless you're on the PC). Key is obtained from the head Templar, who is also located inside the Chantry.
Plate: Found in a sarcophagus in the Werewolf Lair. To find it, you either have to tell the Guardian that you'll talk with the Lady of the Forest, sit through that conversation, then head back to the room where the Guardian stopped you and explore the side rooms; or, you have to kill the Guardian, then explore the side rooms.
Gloves: Found during the Urn of Sacred Ashes questline (which is it's own separate quest, not part of the Redcliffe quest). It's in the Ruined Temple, in the room where the path splits.
Helm: Trade for it from the Mad Hermit. This must be done before completing the 'Nature of the Beast' questline. You will also be unable to trade for it after getting the Werewolf Pelt if you side with him to get through the barrier in the southern part of the western forest.

Not in my current game, the only things in the cabinet were a health poultice and an injury kit

Just my opinion of course, but the sad thing about the Elven set, the Effort set, and the Diligence set, is by the time you've gone to all the places to get them you've already surpassed their usefulness. Its a lot of work for mediocre armor. By the time you get them they only function as RP or 'fashion' sets. I usually just sell them.
Effort set isn't bad if you don't have the DLC. (I think it's the 4th best set after Legion of the Dead, Juggernaut and Wade's Superior Dragonbone).
The Gloves and Boots of Dilligence are the highest armor gloves and boots in the game (tier 6, +3 to armor from the boots, +4 from the gloves). The chest piece is crap though. If you want the highest armor rating in the game, you'll need them.
The ancient elf set has some spirit resist, making it useful for the final battle. The Chevalier and Ceremonial sets are crap though.

some people have issues, others don`t. And actually with all the different system setups, problems are guaranteed to appear here and there. No need to be upset by that, is it?
My problem is that I deactivated the mod after obtaining the parchment and the boots, according to advice provided by a forumer and it totally ruined my game, forcing me to start all over again.
If there is an accessible console, would it not be simpler to provide instructions how to add these items there?
I`d be very happy if someone did that.

What you say about the Diligence gloves and boots is true, however I was commenting on the sets and not the individual pieces.

Patches are over here.
If you missed your chance with the crazy hermit, this mod puts the boots and helm in your camp merchant.
I got the helmet from the hermit but I can't have the boots cuz I'm playin on the PC.
This really sucks. I'm playing the game now for the second time and this armor might be perfect for my arcane warrior mage or for Leilana or Zevran.
Speaking of armor: The best I found was the Warden Commander Armor Set in the Wardens Keep DLC.
