what does this have to do with a apoison pill??

I got no clue.

Or wait, I think the essence of this thread is: Somebody downloaded some quick fix from somewhere and now complains its not a fully tested patch.

Darth_Trethon, you are a troll and an idiot. I would have thought you learned better from the old forums. The PC version is superior if only because it was developed for the PC.

Heh in consoles you get bugs that never get fixed! Hahaha

There are no srious bugs on consoles and they are indeed working on a patch to fix those but console bugs are just two achievements not unlocking and petty stuff like that that mostly doesn't mean squat. Overall DAO runs flawlessly on consoles. I've had 6 playthroughs without a single problem.

while I tend to avoid whining about the game, the console version is certainly not "flawless" and while yes these are primaraly game issues

some bugs I have run into:
the map wheel is really quit buggy, often times I will open go to the talents screen, and guess what ? it wont open and then when close out of it my charecter runs to a person to chat, theres also this really weird bug that I encounterd that caused the game to work normally with the wheel up but then when I closed out of it the game would pause !

they need to fix the dexterity, the issue with shapeshifter forms using strength, several talent (like chain lightening, disoriant, duel striking)  need to be fix etc etc.

p.s it's almost 3 in the morning here were I live so if I sound very incoherant I  apologsie

It duped me to patch and viola! weapons and armor are now constantly in place even if you are replacing them with other items. I had to reload just to fix it. OI BIOWARE what's with your patches? What???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the game MADE you click on "download", then made you double click on the file, then click in install...
Wow, Bioware must really rock if they built mind control into all those little 1s and 0s!

Meh doing a double click instead of a single click is all too easy to do by accident. BioWare should be able to account for these kinds of simple and common mistakes.....but they can't so there you have it.

The PC version of the game is all too sensitive and easily broken if you as much as sneeze while it's running........and you're 50 feet away from the PC running it.

I do not know if you can truly call him a troll though. Remembering him on the old forums, plus these forums, he is simply a blind console fanboy, while also a PC gaming hater.

Generally, I consider trolls to usually be someone who just says things to anger and annoy other people without really having any feelings one way or another for the specific topic. They just simply go on a thread, or start one,
and say something that they know will ****** off a certain group of people, even though that person doesn't really care about the topic.

Darth is just a console fanboy who spreads rumors and myths regarding shortcomings of PC gaming, and then makes claims that consoles, or at least the console of his choice, is virtually flawless.

I remember in the old forums when people were having the "console vs pc" debate on an hourly basis, and whenever someone would give a potential positive for the PC version, Darth would make a false statement to attempt to refute.

Example; when someone says PC version has the toolset and user mods, Darth would say something to the effect of, "I do not care about the toolset, and user mods almost always cause more damage/harm than they
are worth and can cause serious damage to the game." This of course is not true, 90%+ of the time. But Darth makes a statement without anything to back them up, and whenever someone refutes his statements, he comes up with another false statement to make it seem as if PC gaming is terrible, and that console gaming is virtual perfection.

He isn't necessarily a troll, just an idiot.

- Weapon and armor graphics get "stuck" until reload (my character kept Helm of Honnleath equipped regardless of what I actually put on him, and when I tried to switch between the staff and the swords I had equipped, the staff graphic remained - my character was suddenly wielding a staff as if it was a sword.

Actually I had this bug the first time I loaded after 1.02. I ended up stuck in the stupid looking "Racoon on my head" helmet and fugly Red Dragon Armour for a bit. Saving and restarting resolved it, happily.

So it's NOT a 1.02a bug.

I installed 1.02a and so far the only problems I've had are that my mods don't work... why is it everyone else seems to have problems? -.-

I've noticed no difference in load times - the memory leak has existed for me since 1.0

I've noticed this on 1.01 as well (or perhaps earlier, but definetely prior to 1.02).

Yeah, the weapon/armor graphics "stuck" bug existed before this new patch (there are tons of vids around of sex scenes in full armor, etc) - because I've seen it and I refuse to patch to make my game easier. I won't patch until they fix the memory leak.

The console kiddies are right though... I guess I'm going to go back to my game with 25 tactics slots and a respec mod. =D

People are so ignorant and stupid... with the more options on PC it is so much easier for the user to screw everything up himself with eg different custom made modifications and content.

PC version is always better, but often as it is, it is the person behind the PC that often is responsible for alot of the different bugs that come up in a game like this, the console version you get no toolset and no player made mods or worlds/areas/campaigns which means the console has to wait for the release of factory made content which is more thorough tested, so it is a false statement saying that PC in general is more messy, it is if you do something that ruins something in game, but if you got the ability to install something or modify it, then you for sure got the ability to uninstall or remove those improvements as well.

That is about it in general, also look up on who whom created the mod, maybe he knows some issues that has come up and then fixing his or her mod with a custom made patch.

EDIT

As for now even with the new patch not had a single issue yet to come gamewise on the PC, so what are people doing with the stuff out there that does it mess up?!?

Damar, I installed the patch and haven't seen the issues you describe (well, I get the load time issue, but that's only after playing for some time and that was happening before). I switch weapons fairly regularly, and I've got a few mods installed as well.

I've not done the drakeskin quest on this run yet, so can't comment on that one.

I've had the problem of the weapon models not swapping, which also prevents armour models from changing if you switch equipment. It comes up in combat at unpredictable intervals, and if I go into Shale's inventory after it happens, the game always crashes (i.e. unhandled exception). Saving/loading fixes that.

I don't have 1.02a

I'll take botched patches (you don't have to install) over not getting access to a gazillion mods any day of the week. That's why gaming on consoles is generally an extremely bad idea. ;)

Definitely had the weapon model bug before 1.02a. Its quite funny watching my character using his bow sword and quiver shield.

I can confirm that one of the OP's bugs has been in since at least 1.01b. It's not new.

I love shooting arrows with my sword.

Console vs. PC? Who cares. Pick what you like and stfu. Why pop in and comment on a thread having to do with a version you don't even have?

Haven't had this issue after downloading the patch either. I do have a playthrough that is fairly close to the drakeskin portion so I will check that at some point.

3 - mem leak old issue yeah they should fix that. Although i never experienced overly long loading times. Like the 5 mins people are talking about.

So it's not only me.  I can start a reload, walk to the kitchen at the other end of the house and fix a snack, and find the game still "loading."

Eurypterid: thanks for checking it out, I'd say that Wade bug is the worst of them all, hopefully there can be confirmation and fix.

But what about all us others who first experience the load issue after 4 hours or more by playing the game?

If you got a leak in your computer somewhere that does it happens as soon as you have loaded the game from a fresh start, then it is a personal issue... the real issue is though.. the loadtime that happens after hours of gaming when it just has eaten up everythign posible.

Just a quick note down from top of my head...

CPU Intel 6700 Duo Core II 2.67Ghz <-- Old

4GB ram Dual Chanel <- 1066 FSB, old

Geforce 285GTX card <- todays upper class card still.. and no issues with it.

WD Velociraptor Disks 2 150GB and 2 300GB <-- Never seem to become old in anyway :P

Only thing I have upgrades is my GFX card a year ago or something because the old one burned off because of me being stupid basically, the system is in general around 2-3 years old and teh stuff just runs, even new games runs very well without any problems.

My problem is though that the experience with this lag issue in this DA:O game starts bugging me in around 3 to 4 hours of gameplay with all the zoning, it is like that the old zones does not get thrown out of the memory with maybe having one of them as a previous buffer if going the other way or whatever.

Just did the Drake Scales part with the latest patch - got gloves, boots and chest piece for both sets. Admittedly, this was on a game that didn't *start* with the new patch, but I don't think that should matter - the whole Wade section was done on the newest patch.

The stuck equipment bug is definetly in the game at least since patch 1.01. I believe it is there since the first version. To me it seems that the bug appears whenever you advance a level, egardless which party member. (Quick-)Saving and reloading definetly solves the problem...
