EDI went from a cool AI character in ME2, a character that was a unique addition to the roster, to just another squadmate/oversexualized female. She devolves into a lovesick bimbo mooning over a boy. You don't hear Joker asking Shepard how to please EDI, she does all the work in trying to make her man commit, like some pre-feminist Donna Reed caricature. And her role in Synthesis doesn't help. BioWare's idea of paradise is physically inferior men getting in on with sex dolls instead of real women. If that isn't blatant wish fulfillment/subconscious insecurities on display, I don't know what is. Who needs a real woman when you can have a robot to fulfill your every whim? EDI is the ultimate Stepford Wife.
Wow, really? I mean, really?
For one, her body was designed as an infiltration unit. That's why it's hyper-sexualized. And it does actually make sense. People are more inclined to trust you or believe you if you're attractive, regardless of your or their gender. But it is especially effective if you are the preferred gender of your target, and since most Alliance marines are still males, and most males are straight, it makes perfect sense to send Eva in as a hot female.
As for her behavior, that was present in ME2, especially after Joker unshackles her. You can even comment on how comfortable they're becoming with each other. And just so you know, EDI hardly "does all the work." Joker pretty much asks your opinion on pursuing a relationship with EDI. The only difference is that he asks more of a "should I" question, whereas EDI asks "how do I?" The relationship is mutual, and since EDI doesn't understand enough about how relationships work, her questions make perfect sense given her character. To her, Joker is a person, but she is designed to solve problems, and she approaches Joker as a problem to be solved. This isn't really her conspiring to "get her man" as you so acidly put it.
Furthermore, I don't know where you got that idea of synthesis. Not only is it not supported by anything said or shown in-game, but it's completely absurd. What makes you think that synthesis is designed for men? Are there no such things as "male" AIs, insofar as AIs have a gender? Wouldn't that make synthesis equal opportunity then? This whole line of thought is sexist in the extreme anyway.
