Well with all this talk of the sequel, I'll throw out my opinion.

The baby seems like it is going to be a key part in the story line and my guess it will not be good.  Baby could grow up to be a real threat to Fereldan.  Either wanting to take revenge on his father (assuming Alistair) or maybe something more dire.  Lets assume Morrigan gets the idea of possessing the body of the child to become immortal or binding the spirit of the child to her own body (she mentions this is possible in talks with Wynne and staying young and beautiful forever).

She would get the know how through Flemeths grimoires that we got for her or we could see Flemeth return to try and take the child.  Morrigan could return as a villaness and Alistair regret deeply of making the choice to spare his own life to rule on the throne.  Maybe the final battle we get to see Alistair cut off Morrigans head and Alistar as an "end" character.

Either way I think its pretty obvious Morrigan will play a part in the sequel, and I can't see Morrigan playing tender "mommy" to the child of an "old god".  No good will come of this.

On the contrary I think Morrigan would love her child fiercely. (assuming it behaves as a relatively normal baby would and not like Stewie Griffin)

Maybe it is just the opposite. I cared little for the institutions of Thedas. Maybe Morigan does intend to raise the child to be a force to set against these things. Good for me, bad for reverend mothers and nobility.

Or maybe we see a glorious return of a Tevinter style Imperium of sorts that springs from Fereldan. With the child as spearhead or empress (powerful dragons are female no?). Strike down Orlais and the Tevinter remnant, crush the Qun and the Chantry, venture against the very source of the Blight until the Maker himself turns to attention.

somehow I can totally see Morrigan as a fiercely protective mother. There might be a some kind of plot like king Arthur's child with Morgana...

She's one step away from being a vegan hippie selling hemp purses on the streets of Portland, doubt she's going to eat a helpless creature.

I think it would be more interesting for Morrigan to end up loving her child, regardless of what her initial intention was. While she is indeed amoral, this does not render her incapable of emotion or love, even though she probably wishes that she was. Motherhood certainly gives an interesting opportunity for character development with her, cant wait to see what direction bioware takes.

All her talk about finding love being a weakness is just that, talk. Her dialogue at the end if you are in a romance with her is probably the most genuine "I love you" rant any characters ever made to the PC. I agree, Morrigan would probably be very protective of the child, Oghren's the one that eats babies, don't you remember his opening dialogue?

I don't think the game will be about protecting or destroying Morrigan's child.

I think there will be some big problem affecting Orlais which you need to solve. And maybe at some stage you encounter Morrigan and need her help.

If it is set in Orlais, there could be more schemes, plots and twists. And you don't know who to trust. They may not reveal the main save the world quest at the start of the game. There will be probably be more initial mystery about what is going on than there was in DA1.

Considering that She is seen heading West with child (Ritual done), or is seen in the Empress' Court in Orlais (Ritual refused), or at least someone that looks like her (Epilogue Wording of Both), Orlais is next on the Dragon Age: Hit List.

If Morrigan always ends up in Orlais. I wonder if there is some special reason for her to go to Orlais.

Or it is just because it is a big powerful nation where noone knows her.

I also wonder what she is doing in the empress's court. Whether she enjoys the power games and influencing policy. Or she is there for some particular reasons.

maybe flemeth already placed (part of) her soul/spirit in morrigan and the child is just the continuation of flemeth's obsession with immortality and power

Either eat its soul or have naughty time with it O_O

yes I could see there being incest overtones...if Bioware desires... John Boorman had it sorta.

There are endings where she doesn't have a child and the Main Char lives....

IMO Flemeth is going to be the big problem in the second one.

There seems to be so many plot twists and turns possible in this. Here is just one! Whoever the father is he will quest to find her and the child. The entity of the archdemon didn't die but is trapped in the child's body and struggles for domination. Morrigan tries to stop it to save her child and in turn is found by the father who's help she now needs to stop the archdemon from completely possessing the child. She is, at first angry that the father has violated the agreement and won't talk to the father. The archdemon gets stronger and she finally has no choice. And this is just one possibility...

Come on , numbnumb. Is a dad trying to reconnect with his kid really compelling enough for a violent epic :)?

We need Grown up dark god. Or at least Teenage dark god.

Well if Morrigan and the baby are indeed in the next game it will not take place in Fereldan. Morrigan promises you that nothing bad will happen there.

That is just the kind of thing I was talking about.   By the time the father finds them the kid is not a baby anymore and older (maybe a lot) than the boy in the fade episode.   What father would not want to find a child he knew was his?   But we are talkiing about a whole lot more here..

Ummm the whole point was for the Old God to posses the kid.  Morrigan worriing about it would kind of defeat the whole point of having the kid.
