I'm thinking about it. I haven't visited a true gaming convention and, of course, haven't met anyone from BW, so it's tempting. Gamescon doesn't provide any useful information about events on their website, so for now it isn't enough to start haggling about a possible vacation at work in the most inopportune period of month, lol. I'll wait and see.

Yeah, last year was no problem parking-wise, even though it was the Saturday (where they had to stop selling tickets at the counters as there were so many people there already). Just make sure you're there early enough as traffic is really bustling once it opens. They have several big parking lots near the fair cleared just for Gamescom.

And btw for those wanting to buy tickets at the counter: If you go Saturdays you have to buy the tickets online. You won't be able to buy them there. Any other day is fine, but they learned from last year where Gamescom was practically overrun on Saturday.

I'm very tempted to go. Cologne is only about 1 hour away by car from where I live in Belgium, and I've been willing to go for the last few years already but always had stuff come up at the last moment.

Sadly I can't quite commit to it yet at this point however.
Which probably means no alcoholic beverage-related community party for me. And that makes me a sad three-headed monkey!

I just took Friday (August 17) off, so I'll be there Friday to Sunday. Apart from Gamescom, if I feel like it I will also do a bit of Cologne sightseeing, depending on the weather. If you're there and up for that too, let me know.

And hopefully, Chris can get me on the list for the community party...

I just hope it won't be as hot as last year. I had to wait for two hours at 30 degrees © on Saturday (result: sunburn), and the poor guys who didn't have a pre-sale ticket waited for two hours only to be turned away.

I recommend getting a pre-sale ticket. Should be easy over the GamesCom website.

I'm pretty sure I'll be there on Saturday! It's only a half an hour drive... if I were stupid enough to visit Cologne by car, that is. So it will be 45 mins by train...

Speaking of which: If you take a regional or national train, make sure to drop of at "Köln Messe/Deutz" NOT Cologne Main Station. Otherwise you'd have to take a walk over the Rhine to get to the fair. Most high speed trains also stop there, so it shouldn't be a problem for international visitors as well.

Hi Everyone

Spots for the Community party are now all full, so no more invites this year.

If you will be attending, make sure you follow @bioware @bioevilchris or @jessicamerizan on Twitter as we'll be tweeting out or locations throughout the convention in the hopes of meeting with our fans. We'll also be doing interviews with fans sites and such while we are there (if you run a fansite and will have people at GC, send me a PM and we'll arrange something), and we're looking at doing some live chats to take advantage of being in the EU timezones for a change.

More details to come.
