In fact, is there a replacement for Samara at all on her side mission if she dies in ME2?

Maybe Morinth.

No, Morinth just turns into a Banshee on Earth.

Lol, still funny. No one except Bobobo liked her anyway.

This would be the one DLC I'd be willing to buy, if it has more Thane in it.

TAKE MY MONEY PLZ!

Speaking of which. Still find that hilarious XD

Samara: "You will regret your decision."
Shepard: "Pffffffft."
Morinth: *Banshee screech*
Shepard: "O****..."

Hell yeah, ME3 needs an option to save Morinth from getting turned into a Banshee, just like it had an option to save Jack from getting turned into a phantom. If Bioware does this, I will love them again.

One question.

How? Especially when a quarter of the Mass Effect 3 cast is needed for the main quest-line, and is not guaranteed to live or die through the adventure?

The only one's I see available are Zaeed and Kasumi, and maybe Samara depending on certain actions. Everyone else either dies during the game at certain points, or has a very solid reason for not joining you.

You could make it work for some of the others, albeit perhaps not for the entire game, without having to change things around too much:

Mordin - Let him be a squadmate for the Sur'Kesh / Tuchanka sequence (barring, I suppose, the final "summon the thresher maw sequence"), just like they did for Tali during the Rannoch sequence even though she can die at the end.

Miranda - She joins up after your initial meeting on the Citadel and continues chasing leads on her father and sister from on board the Normandy. Right before the Thessia mission, she gets an urgent communique and leaves in a hurry to pursue the two of them, then you catch up with her again on Horizon. (Or she gets in a fight with Liara over the XO quarters and Liara kicks her off the ship. ;))

Grunt - Could join after Utukku, as long as he survives. Somebody else can take over whatever's left of Aralakh Company.

Jacob - Could also join up if he's confident that Brynn and the rest of the Cerberus defectors are all somewhere safe now.

Jack - Similar situation, have the students go with Kahlee instead.

Thane (poor health) and Legion (highly scripted role in the Rannoch sequence) are the only two for whom it probably just couldn't be done.

Wait, does that happen if you just skip Samara's loyalty mission altogether, or only if you do it and :shudder: choose Morinth over Samara?

I do have one playthrough where I skipped Samara's mission and she died on the Collector Base, and I think I'd have noticed a banshee named "Morinth" in the Earth sequence, but it's possible I missed it.

Those three can all die too. In fact, the only ME2-introduced squadmate who cannot die is, somewhat oddly considering how his romance was handled, Jacob. If you kept Mr. Taylor alive for the Suicide Mission, his survival is essentially a lock.

There are ways around this, however. As I've said in other threads, and others have proposed as well, utilizing some of these terrific characters in replacable fashions which develop them as individuals and in relation to Shepard and the overarching plot would be the best way to go.

An example I frequently use is Miranda and Jack potentially showing up for a portion of Retake Omega. They both have strong ties to the Cerberus plotline, but Miranda in particular was sidelined to hell and back given her ME2 relevance.

Both characters could show up for Retake Omega, should it indeed come to pass, but they could also have replacements with less player investment. Already on the vanilla side of things, this is how Mordin is handled. This is how Jacob is handled, kinda. This is indeed how Legion is handled.

Wouldn't having Aria as a guest character be better for the Retake Omega stuff?

It would be cool to have a new Asari in the mix there if you ask me.

Aria would of course be in it. And Aria could of course become a temporary squadmate if that's how the designers feel the DLC would best be served. But Miranda, Jack et al don't need to be playable to get more content. No one does. It would be nice, but it isn't necessary.

I waaaant this. It isn't just Jack/Miranda/Thane/[ect] romancers that want them to appear again. Some of my absolute favorite characters are the ME2 squadmates. They could easily do more with Thane [pre-citadel coup], Jack, and Miranda. Even Kasumi, and Zaeed could have little cameos if you had them, just to make it feel more connected.

You're absolutely right. The only ME2-introduced squadmate I've even romanced is Miranda, but I'd be down for more of all of them. Many, many fans would be. :)

This better not be Bioware's idea of a joke. It would be very cruel to 'Tease' us with a comment like this and give 'us' hope and then take it away.

Kinda like what they did to us Thane fans....

I agree I hope it isn't a joke either!

I say more Thane....more ME 2 squadmates!

This doesn't mean anything. If Bioware were really interested in this they would have had Priestly ask the question, since that's sort of his job.

If Miranda and Jack were to appear in some way on the Retake Omega DLC, I think it would be cool if at certain points in the content we could bring them with us (ala LOTSB) while accomplishing objectives and having the rest of the squad in support roles. Bringing them would be optional and you could mix and match the party to you liking. Like having Garrus and Jack, or Ashley and Miranda (this could also make the romance dynamic more interesting)

A bit like the Suicide Mission but instead of losing squad members, if you don't pick the right people the station is more and more damaged, impacting how effective Aria's force would be.

From a gameplay standpoint it would be as such:

If you fully "save" Omega, you get a new armor set made from recovered technology, a few new mods and more credits and Aria has her empire back.

Depending on how damaged the station is you lose access to some of that gear and money.
And Aria may not recover Omega at all.

It would be a bit of a throwback to the Suicide Mission and would be an interesting gameplay feature that would, IMO make the content much more appealing.

I think I'm one of the few people who would want thane to remain dead. Perhaps add some sort of dlc before the citadel mission. :/ I thought his death was good. Same goes for Mordin and Legion. Although, in comparison.. thane's death wasn't as dramatic. Still, he died protecting the councilor.

I would absolutely love a DLC involving Miranda and Samara. I never thought much about Miranda in ME2, but when I brought her along to the final boss and she quit Cerberus, it got me interested in her character progression for ME3. Plus I like Yvonne Strahovsky (is that how you spell her name?).

Samara would be awesome fun! I was so excited to see her during that banshee mission - hoping she'd be a temp. But she wasn't. I felt like the missions involving the ME2 squadmates should have been handled differently. They should have all been temp. squad. Perhaps even include a second mission for everyone where they can be allies then.
