I installed NWN + AddOns 1.69 on Fedora 17 KDE and I don't have any sound. When I go into audio-options, there are no sound devices to select. The list is completely empty.

When I install and play the game with Wine, sound works and there are about 6 devices in the Options to chose from.

My sound-card is a Soundblaster Audigy. There is also onboard-sound on the mainboard, but I disabled it in bios because it kept messing up the audio-settings every time I boot the computer.

Can anyone help me to enable sound when playing with a Linux-Installation?

Did you remember to remove the ./lib from the line starting with
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=
in your nwn start script? It seems to me that your NWN uses the libSDL version that was shipped with the install instead of your system's version. The version shipped with nwn is now very old and outdated.

I did, but then the game doesn't start.

[user@host Neverwinter Nights]$ ./nwn
./nwmain: error while loading shared libraries: libmss.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Edit: Ah, now I finally get it. I have to delete only the five letters "./lib", leaving the letters both before and in front of it in place.

And now, does it solve your sound problem?
