I think Bioware has largely abandoned this forum, because we've all resorted to just repeating the same arguments over and over and over and over.

Believe it or not, Bioware, this is actually a positive sign. It means, despite whatever sense of loss or dissapointment the community felt, we're still at least interested. Even if pessimistic, we're at least curious enough to stick around and see what comes next.

So GIVE US SOMETHING ALREADY.

Give us something new to talk about. Even if you don't have everything set in stone, I'm sure there's more than just vague information about "Companion armor customization."

Here's the deal: We want to know more. We are interested in the continued future of the Dragon Age franchise, so we hang around these forums. But since we have nothing new to discuss, since no information has been released, we have nothing to say except repeat the same old arguments and opinions, over and over until we explode.

So at least give us something. Something we can sink our teeth into, and really talk about. At least put some arguments to rest. Something. Anything.

I NEED MORE. *twitch*

Hear Hear.

Some new info would be nice. Or at least the July question of the month.

Not much more to tell at this point. The game is still a ways off if they've only started main production last month.

Agreed. Not much to tell at this point. However, I feel your pain OP. I, too, feel the painful absence of news regarding the next product. Still, I'm glad they aren't rushing into announcing it before its ready. I remember when DA2 hadn't come out and the forums were reverberating with the outcry for gameplay footage so that we could see what they kept talking about.

And yeah, where the heck is July's question? I've been wondering about that.

They're BUSY.  Laidlaw in particular already talked about this--how they don't want to reveal anything until they actually have something to show off.  Right now they're at that productive stage where they have an enormous amount of organizational work to do, putting together a structure so they can start to create content which they can then iterate.  Unfortunately, it's also the production stage which does not lend itself well to fascinating gewgaws.

Also, I think they're probably sick of the 400+ page threads ****ing/speculating about things based on ONE SINGLE PIECE of concept art.  So they're letting us twist in the wind for a while.

Agree with everything OP has said. Many of us are disappearing or retreating into "lurk" status just like the devs have. Most of us will be back, but the BSN is like a ghost town right now.

As much as I empathize, I'd rather they wait until they have something substantial to show. Anything less will only whet our appetites, making us all the hungrier. In addition, any half-assed tidbits will only prompt wild speculation and pointless debate on these forums, further aggravated by the fact that people are either happy or pisssed off about whatever piece of news, even though they don't have complete information.

Meh - it's the same two-dozen people having the same conversations over & over again, mostly.  The vast majority of people have left, plus a few people coming back to check in after an extended absence.

Yeah, we're probably still about a year away from screenshots/gameplay.

this is very true.  Even when I wasn't commenting on the forums, I still checked in every couple of months or so.  More than half of the member in groups I belong to here haven't showed up in over a year. Which also says that DA2 lost a lot of Dragon Age fans.  Considering every other succesful video game series makes good quality sequels every two years,  DA2 was bad change in direction that has caused them to spend more time excessively fixing it.  A shame when all the had to do is say "Okay, back to the Origins formula".

Bioware should have let the Origins' formula fail on it's own right before making a lot of changes.  Instead of saying that nobody likes playing games like Origins and let's change 80% of the game, they commited the sin of changing too much and alienating the fans.

That's a huge expense just to test a theory. Although DA2 failed, it failed at a much lower cost. As DG said they can continue to churn out games like origins even if they only get those numbers.
If on the other hand there is a same drop from DA2 to DA3 as there was from DA:O to DA2 in sales. Then you can probably wave the DA world goodbye.

There will be that drop in sales. The number of people willing to buy on brand alone seems to have dwindled considerably; in the space of two playthroughs of DA2 I went from "will buy anything DA related" to "Unlikely to ever buy again, no matter how good DA3 is." I am not the only one. None of my gaming friends seem to particularly care that DA3 is on the way, because DA2 pretty much tanked the series for them as well.

Oh FFs.

Progress is being made on DA3, and they actually have no obligation to report their moves in to you. However, with a bit of effort, you can find information on it.

And if they're done making things for DA2, then they are.

^^^ What she said.

To the OP, creating threads in order to attempt to coerce some sort of response from the DA team has never worked before and it probably won't work now, unless you have amazing timing and they just happen to plan on dropping some new info right now... *waits*... ... ... I guess not. *sadface*  (I'm eager for some kind of news as well, so I can relate to your frustration).

The thread's title totally fits on one of those suggestive lady pics you get on some sites.

And this place gives me a headache if I stick around to long too, srsly people just run in circles with their respective picket signs demanding what they want. So I am not at all surprised that the devs have gone into lurk mode. I'm pretty sure some are still reading though.

Aren't you? ;)

After ALL the issues they've had with people scrutinizing promises and other such reveals they made before launch... Do you really think they are going to take a chance on anything by revealing info they don't really have down as they know yet?

The problem with giving any information or tidbits is that gamers on this forum think they become set in stone and is the WOG. If something that was announced gets changed everyone is up in arms (either happy or unhappy). Far better to say nothing and reveal information when there is something to show.

All I'm concerned about atm, is that the game is in the works. They're not rushing things this time around, which is a good thing. While waiting for DA3, go enjoy another playthrough or two of Origins/DA2.

Given the short development cycle of DA2, I'm surprised that EA is actually giving Bioware as much time as they are to work on DA3. Hopefully the extra time is well spent.

It hasn't even been officially announced yet. I'm willing to bet you won't see it announced until Spike TV Gaming Awards. But it will just be a teaser.

They need to take their time with it and just get it right. If DA3 fails, well, that's the end of the DA universe I fear. They probably will be hit with day 1 buyers simply from reactions on DA2. They're going to have to prove it's another great game this time around. Shouldn't be a problem though. If it's a great game, gamers will buy...they will not pass it up.

I personally went on a media blackout for DA2 because of Bioware's pedigree. But I was shocked at how different it was from DAO when I first loaded it up. DA2 isn't nearly as bad as some claim. In fact, I think it's a very good game in it's own right, just not as good as DAO. But this time around, I will be paying attention to the marketing and seeing the direction they're going in DA3...

I do think they should show us at least something. I would like to have a rough idea of what DA3 will be like so I know whether to bother with it or not.

Maybe they are thinking if there is no expectations then they can just catch everyone by surprise and the game will be better recieved?

Still, look at the game Tomb Raider.  They have been putting stuff out about that game since December of 2010, just to keep the fans excited and interested.  I really think that giving info out must just be for the fans.

I was thinking of an episode of Futurama in which Fry says that line, actually. I can't recall what episode, but I can clearly hear it in my head.
