I'm actually quite curious what PJ did to draw out the otherwise rather thin story. There is undoubtedly enough material in the Tolkien canon for more than 3 movies, so I'm looking forward to seeing what he inserted from the other works of the great JRR.

Wasn't disagreeing with you greg. Just having a different PoV, explaining mine and hopefully respecting yours. As for what you said (and didn't make the above quote for brevity sake) I agree with a lot.

By the way, how was the lag (or lack of lag) in our game last night? I was tired and frustrated (i.e. not on top of my game) so couldn't really tell if things could have gone better (we all gelled too much and too soon I noticed; lack of trust I guess).

Unfortunately I think Mr Jackson is just dragging it out cos he doesn't have anything else to do. Read both the Hobbit & LOTR - 3 films for the hobbit is just too long for me. LOTR is split into three sections with cliffhangers etc much easier. I resent having to pay 3x to watch one story.

That said, it's still go gonna be interesting...

I think it's more a case of all citizens of former British colonies knee-jerking towards antagonism by default. We get our digs in when it comes to sport, because we are better at the games 'The Empire' instilled in us. And our players are better looking for the most part. And all of that is just an example of said digs.

I read some reviews saying PJ took some elements form outside The Hobbit (novel) for the movie. Based on how he handled Lord of the Rings, he probably did a decent job of choosing stories from the Tolkien things that are not Hobbit or Lotr.

I love tLotR. I even was part of Middle Earch IRC channel back when I was in college. We had so much fun. Loved the books and loved the movies.

Actually I only excluded HOLDEN, since he was already banging everyone and I reckoned I should not get him too excited.

Greg was included in my Krogan headbutt fest (hmmm not sure I said that right.)  Do you like rugby? or you and your hubby only cricket fans? I really enjoyed the english beating new zealand recently.
