Actually, Sirian encouraged me to mention this; I wasn't going to.

After I left school I enlisted in the British Marine Corps.

I was later denied entry as a result of my medical history making me ineligible for service.

During my time in basic training the people I met with did not have the same qualifications that I had...

In fact, most of them weren't clever, they weren't brave, they weren't tough, they weren't heroic. Most of them wouldn't be able to tell you a damn thing about the world; they couldn't quote shakespeare; they couldn't speak foreign languages..., and it made me realise that they, like most soldiers ever, are nothing more than cannon fodder for old men to use in their power games.

Most of the "bravery" associated with the armed forces is just stupidity, a pipe dream which deluded me, and continues to delude people so governments can waste the lives of young, untalented and not particularly bright individuals.

We need fewer soldiers, and more doctors, teachers and historians.

For it is the mums, dads, brain surgeons, cancer research scientists and the school teachers that are the true heros in society. Heros that go unappreciated, unnoticed.

I I'm sorry I didn't realize Annomander was some famous humanitarian or something, please pardon me...

Nah, just kidding, I really don't care. I have many family and friends in the military, and to say its just "push-ups" is flat out wrong and insulting. Annomander deserves any ridicule aimed at him, Sirian. No one really cares about his history.

Correction: I know the United States military is very tough business. Not sure how foreign military compares, but there it is.

But everyone's military experience is different. Some don't even see combat, some do. But I've been through a hell of a lot more then just the U.S. Army. You can damn well sure count on that. But THAT is NOT something to share publicly. Let alone to someone I hardly know.

I just hate assumptions.

All this crap started by assuming that I was 16.
Why not just ask me how old I was instead of betting?

Had a Galaxy S first, now I have a Galaxy S3. Rooted, and considering putting a custom OS on it. :D

Do it. DOOOO IIIIITTTTT.

Currently on a Galaxy Nexus, previously had an Evo3D and the original Evo4G. Rooted them all and put (many) custom ROMs on all of them. It's like an addiction, you become a flash-a-holic. Choose better battery life, moar/different features, faster performance, or have it all. It's the main perk to running android, customizing it however you like.

I should do that to my S2, but I'm so lazy... XD

I'm planning to do it to my original Galaxy S, but I can't find a Rom I like, I've been all through XDA developers, but none catch my eye. What do you guys use?

Hmmm, what choices do you have? Lately I've been all about AOKP (the only ROM with a SWAGGER button, lol) and Euroskank (a CM10 kang with cherrypicks). I've run Slim before, **great** battery life, but he does some weird stuff to the DPI (so you can run in tablet mode) & the market/play store so I've occasionally run into issues with certain apps.

For S2 and S3, I've heard only good things about the SuperNexus ROM. Haven't checked it for updates in a while though.

I'm still waiting for the Official JB update for me S2, even though it's rooted...I flashed CM10 and Resurrection Remix, but had some issues and decided to go back to stock ICS.

Is the S2 going to get a JB update?

ICS is a really good choice for those phones that cant get JB. There is a thread on XDA where you can get a modded version of the JB Google Now app. It has it's "quirks" but Google Now is just plain awesome. That and Project Butter are the top 2 reasons in my book for getting JB.

Perhaps if the entire middle East read the collected works of Shakespeare instead of the Qur'an more often, there wouldn't be a war on terror taking place in the middle-East.

This is a pretty cool thread though. At first it was all burn though.  Its interesting to see how people are truly interested to see what you look like. I kind of like the mystery but hey, its cool to know as well.

I had a buddy that I gamed with quite a bit and in my mind he looked totally different than what I expected when I saw him on facebook when he and a lot of the N7 Spec Ops group connected to me from there.

You get to imagine all sorts of strange people, but when you see them they all look like you coul've met them at the grocery store. Still I don't have the guts to start a conversation with a stranger about possessed abominations. :?

Folks, it's off-topic and pointless. Just drop it. No one here knows enough about anyone else's background to be passing judgements. Let it go, and get back on track. Meaning post some pictures of yourselves, or find another thread that fits your discussion.

Better to read a story with significance than reading about the vitriolic filth spewed by an illiterate, hate mongering schizophrenic who arranged a marriage to, and f*cked a child under 10. Who spent his entire life being nothing more than an intolerant, hateful bigot, spreading violence and hate masqueraded as a religion of "peace" like a plague across the middle East; brought to you by the edge of a Tulwar.

It's interesting to see how people's faces match up to their voices. Some people look so different to how I'd imagine.
