IMO it was really close and had the same feel as the book. My only minor complaint was that it skipped over the ending where he explains the alternative story, so I don't think many people who just watch it would understand the two ending choices or what they meant. No Snakes Alive wrote...

When you are starting out you tend to spend money on things you think you might need. As you get accustomed to the camera, it's quirks, the lenses and all your accessories you start to notice most of the time you only use about 10% of what you have. I know people who call themselves "professional" and own thousands of Euros in equipement, yet have taken maybe 10-20 truly bad photographs in years.
As Ken Rockwell put it "your camera doesn't matter". You can take great photos with your cheap cellphone, what really matters is what's behind the camera. That's you.
Since I never had a lot of money to spend on things I love and too much hobbies, I had to make a lot of choices and sacrifices. I was lucky enough to start out with a cheap Olympus 35mm camera, one of those super simple models you just point and shoot. Then I learned all about the intricacies and when I was confident enough my parents let me grab the OM-1 with it's great set of optics. We then moved to the digital world with a Ricoh Caplio RZ1, witch still works and still takes amazing photos in manual mode (auto white balance misses too much). After that a cousin of mine gave me a Nikon Coolpix 5400 (still works great in the hands of my best friend), and with that I took some of my best photos ever (at least my favorites of all). Now that I settled down somewhat I had some cash to burn, so I found a great deal for a used Nikon D3100 and 18-55 VR for less than 350 Euros (witch is half as much as buying new). I don't really like the lens being a zoom, it makes me lazy most of the times so I was thinking on moving to the 35mm DX but that would cost me a lot, even used, so I'm waiting some more and using the lens always at 35mm (witch is like using a 35mm camera with a 50mm lens).
Since you already spent and bought a lot of stuff I imagine then go with it, but if it were me I would concentrate more on taking pictures with a minimal setup. Camera body and one prime lens should be all you need to get started.
